Hi! I'm Hylocereus, also known as Hylo on discord. I have a tendancy to do dumb shit while playing on 2 hours of sleep and consistently dissapointing everyone who relies on me. I roll antag a lot and usually make a nuisance of myself rather than greentext. Despite being pretty average in the robustness department I tend to get insanely lucky or unlucky in the oddest situations. I've actually been on para for over a year now, but I've always sort of lurked oocly and never bothered to get involved with the community much. ICly it's a bit different as I play that irritating bucket of issues known as Sam Aria, who you'll probably have run into at least once gettin' muh snewflek on, being the world's wimpiest antag, complaining about incompetent chemists and getting into hilariously bad situations due to a desire to be reasonable overwhelming any kind of robustness. I also play a vox with a ridiculous name, a catbeast and a few less edgy characters, but only sparsely when I feel like being anonymous. Engineering is witchcraft to me so you'll see me in any department except for that one on my various characters, though I usually play medical or security on my main.2 points

Hey nerd, Maya here. Good to see you on the forums. Enjoy your stay, and remember: your opinion doesn't matter, salt goes best with cheese, and the proper response to anyone who wants to nerf something is "git gudder".2 points

Name: Tetra Vega Age: 37 (2529-present) Gender: Female Race: Human Blood Type: B- General Occupational Role(s): Primary: Security Pod Pilot Secondary: Security or Mechanic Biography: Born on a space colony, she has never set foot on a planet. The station her family lived on was older and run down...it did not have access the resources or technology of the newer stations. Her mother died giving birth to her. Her father died of heart disease when she was 11, forcing her older brother Zeke to raise her. He was one of the engineers trying to keep their old station functional, so she spent much of her time around him and his co-workers learning and helping where she could. He was very strict with her due to her being the only family he had left, which led to her being quite rebellious. When Tetra was 17, she stowed away on a supply frigate visiting the station and set out on her own to escape her brothers restrictive grip. She skipped around from one station to another doing what she could to survive, not really having any purpose. While on her travels she got word of a horrible engineering accident that nearly killed her brother. It was later discovered that the accident was caused by and act of terrorism by the Syndicate. This led to her deciding she needed to do more with her life. She signed up to the military academy and shortly after found herself employed as a security officer on the NSS Cyberaid, where her story continues... Qualifications: Expert knowledge in the operation and maintenance of small space craft Advanced combat training and knowledge of Space Law Intermediate medical knowledge from working with and learning from brig physicians. She learned ghetto surgery during her younger years as a mechanic. Employment Records: Prior to becoming employed on the NSS Cyberaid she spent her time as a mechanic, surviving off of whatever odd jobs she could find, hitchhiking her way from one station to the next. Looking for more of a purpose she became part of the NSS Cyberaid's security force, beginning her career as a security officer. She primarily serves as the Security Pod Pilot but will take on various security roles based on the stations need. When she wants some down time she will go back to her roots and tinker with a space pod or just hang out as a civilian. Security Records: Major Crimes: 1 count of Manslaughter As Head of Security, Tetra Vega caused a vampire suspect to ignite by force feeding them too much holy water without sufficient extinguishers present, resulting in the suspect dying. She served a permanent sentence for the duration of the shift and was further reprimanded upon returning to Central Command. Minor Crimes: From time to time she is reprimanded by Central Command for using unnecessary verbal force on prisoners and hurting thier feelings. Prior to being employed on the NSS Cyberaid she has various counts of vandalism, petty theft, trespassing, and battery. [Clearance: Security] There is evidence that suggest that, despite her loyalty to Nanotrasen, she has been working for the Syndicate from time to time. It is believed they are forcing her to work using some sort of leverage they have over her. When questioned she appears uneasy yet conveys that nothing is out of the ordinary. NT continues investigating. Medical Records: Father: Negeroth Vega (2497-2540) Mother: Kraesha Vega (2499-2529) Siblings: Zeke Vega (2520-present) Organs: Mechanical Heart Family has an irreversible genetic defect that can cause them to suffer from sudden and severe heart failure. The only solution with current technology is to replace the organic heart with a mechanical one. Name: Derek White Age: 25 Gender: Male Race: Human Blood Type: O+ General Occupational Role(s): Head Of Personnel, Civilian, Bartender, Chef, Journalist Biography: Derek has a long history with working for NanoTrasen. He started off as a security officer upon one of their stations, and he was very loyal to his employers, as he thought he had found his place in life. After a couple of years of service, the station got attacked by a group of people calling themselves syndicate. Derek never really saw these himself, as he was assigned to the western checkpoint. However, when heading back to Security he heard a loud sound, glass breaking, people screaming. The doors were bolted shut by the A.I to contain what had happened. There was a hull breach, and some sort of gas had been thrown in from the breach, the ones Derek called his friends and collegues, were screaming in agony, some of them had already passed. Whatever attacked them, was ruthless, they didn't care for life at all. And the way NanoTrasen dealt with this situation, despicable. They probably could have saved about half of the security staff, but the doors were bolted to make sure that no further damage could be done to the station. It was all about saving money. After this, Derek resigned from security, and is trying to live a quiet life. He would however not hesitate, to pick up arms once again, to defend the ones he call friends. His first command job, Head Of Personnel, was filled with bureacrucy. The war was on paper, no casualties. Qualifications: Security experience. Basic weapons training. Trained in efficent paperwork Employment Records: Worked as a Security Officer for a couple of years, before he decided that he wanted to change his life around. Enough death White has also previously worked as a HoP on occasion, as it is something that really suits him, with paperwork and what not. Security Records: Has been arrested a few times for being very outspoken in regards to NanoTrasen. He used to be a loyalist, now he's on the list of people to keep an eye on. Medical Records: White has a history with anxiety and clinical depression after what he witnessed in his previous line of work. He's suffering from occasional relapses, but not very frequent Personnel Photo (Appearance text): A bald very torn man, doesn't seem to sleep much as his eyelids seem to weigh heavy. A bit above average heigth. Looks to be mid-age Commendations [only to be added by admin]: Reprimands [only to be added by admin]: Other Notes:1 point

The current PR uses tint=2 which is the same as the welding mask. Doesn't seem like it's going to be merged though. I love your description of real world experience of gas masks. So cool. And I think it really hammers home the point that if you don't need the gas mask, you're not going to want to wear it. Anyways, wrt the filters idea, I know @Anticept also thought filters might be the right way to go. Though the voice idea does have the advantage of being simpler and I feel like would be better at incentivizing proper use of gas masks.1 point

As someone that absolutely loves IPCs and plays the everloving shit out of them here and even on a few other servers, let me break this down: -Toxin damage = Residue damage, granted this can only come via the form of the two IPC drugs that currently exist. -Clone damage is resolved with organics in about two minutes with cryoxadone + cryopod, which most chemists usually make at the start of each round. Not many things outside of the unupgraded cloner at the start of the round cause cloning damage (and science generally tends to go on an upgrade rampage within the first half hour or so, pending supplies from mining.) -Suffering from pain is irrelevant when I can just cut off a leg in three hits [spoilertext]or EMP it[/spoilertext] with a welding tool or metal rod and laugh my ass off as the poor IPC tries to flee, but to no avail as it is now slower than a diona and falls over every three seconds. -Blood on Paradise rarely comes into play, and if it does then you got pretty damn fucked up or you're making bloodborne viruses. Or vampires, but vampires in general need some sort of rework honestly. -Immune to instadeath decaps? Well sure the head can come off but what does it matter when they go blind, lose the ability to speak over the radio, and/ or could be killed/ put into crit by five shots with a laser gun to the chest [spoilertext]or be EMP'd to death immediately[/spoilertext]? -Immunity to most chemicals, but the ones that can effect them can be used to utterly destroy them, with the exception of the two healing chemicals that serve as a yang to the yin caused by IPC drugs (And yes, the IPC drugs can very easily destroy an IPC. Rig a grenade with those and toss it into a crowd- fun for the entire family!) -Can't utilize DNA manipulation? Great, I can't have superpowers. Nobody, not even geneticists, go around giving people defective DNA injections very often, so anything "bad" you could do to someone with one doesn't really apply here. -Death? Depends. Sometimes you get amazing people and they can revive you within 5- 10 minutes, all parts reconstructed. I commend those people, because 7/10 times you get someone that doesn't know what in heck to do with you, or they go extremely slow, or there's just so many parts to repair/ put back on that it takes 3x the time that cloning or defibrillation does. Or all of the above! [spoilertext]That or you were really terrible while alive and literally drunk yourself to death and fucked everything up. I swear I haven't done this.[/spoilertext] Now, when I say this, I mean this respectfully, but I advise you to try the race for yourself a bit, Fox. It's not as amazingly overpowered and Godly as you perceive it. I actually started playing Kei again these past few days, somewhat to remember what differences I get by playing a non-IPC. I gotta say, it's a MUCH brighter story overall for organics. That said, I enjoy the difficulty that IPCs get in some of these regards. I have always felt that EMPs, however, are a tad ridiculous. Especially considering, say, Revenants, which are merely supposed to be an annoyance, but turn into a murderboning eldritch horror to IPCs every time they come by (although I've been told to ahelp any Revenants I see doing such a thing.). Or the flashlight EMP. What to do with EMPs? I know Baystation and Polaris have it so IPCs are dealt a decent amount of damage, and knocked out for a bit (much longer than a taser electrode, so finishing off an IPC in this state is a non-issue), when hit with an EMP. They can take about 3-4 direct EMP hits, if memory serves. Would it be simple to code? Perhaps. I'll take the time to try coding it myself once I'm more settled in, if enough people think that's an alright idea.1 point
