  1. Clickbait title woo. So let's talk about shaming culture. Shame is an important social tool to indicate a societal attitude towards behaviour. Go look up sociology shit on wiki. As crew, comments on your coworkers shape their actions. As admins, it can be our job to shame people for their behaviour. This can be done appropriately some times - but someone shouldn't feel too ashamed over a simple mistake, especially newbies. This needs to be done carefully and correctly to ensure that it stops the behaviour, and teaches people the correct action. You should avoid direct insults to the persons intelligence. This can cross IC/OOC boundaries, where your IC insults are being reflected at the person behind the screen. Several people have talked to me recently about how they've been shamed by admins OOCly and ICly in a variety of circumstances. Some of these times have been appropriate to shame someone for their behaviour. The degree to which this has been done and ways has not always been to my liking - I'd like to take this opportunity to remind admins that even a minor comment from someone with the power of a banhammer, comes across very strongly. Calling them an idiot in front of the entire station can be mortifying, and totally turn a new player off the game. This is something that should be remembered when you play the game too. Everyone has off days, and abusing the CE for messing up the singularity isn't going to stop anyone getting sucked into it or make the shuttle arrive faster. When you criticise someone's actions, try to do it in a way that teaches them what the correct thing to do is, and doesn't humiliate the person behind the screen too much. Over this weekend especially I'll be collecting various feedback etc on this, so feel free to message me. If you're reading old forum posts a year from now, also feel free to message me. It's literally my job to talk to players and the community about things like this.

  2. There are some full body civilian uniforms for female characters that could be considered elegant, why not add something for male characters? See I've been going through paradise files and found things like: Navy suit, Burgundy suit, various mafia suits, or this thing called "sl_suit" that looks cool and fairly customizable. Adding a waistcoat would be great too. I understand that there are bigger priorities on hand, but I and quite few other players would be very grateful. :>

  3. One Extended Round ago, the crew was relatively peaceful... and that was boring as hell! When it's extended and you have no antagonists, you gotta make up your antagonists. So security finally gets an alert from the mining crew and AI that there are a bunch of syndicates stationed at an outpost in lavaland. Security knew it was finally their moment, so they geared themselves up, went down in groups and prepared to lay siege to the syndicate outpost. I was late to the assault and I decided to join in after hearing how bad our security department was doing. Our Head of Security fell down a chasm. Our Warden went looking for our Head of Security; he fell down the chasm, too. Two of our officers got their heads deleted by a sniper rifle. I arrive to lavaland, find two officers there, and I basically tell them, "I'm Bolton Grey, pod pilot. You know I'm better than you because I get my own office. Now you two wait here, and I'll-" And then I get my head deleted by sniper rifle. So now most of security is either a spooky ghost or stranded in lavaland. I get to talking in dchat and then I find out something... The lavaland syndicate outpost was an elaborate bait that gambled on annoying the Cyberiad station so much that they would send down their security team by themselves. Turns out this Extended round is actually a stealthy Nukestended round. So the nuclear operatives pose as pizza delivery men. They get the captain to open the pizza box and "bam" a locker full of nukies come out, kill the captain, steal the nuke disk, and proceed to nuke our station. Everyone gets played hard.

  5. Hello everyone. Back in April, we paused our Patreon for a month, and instead encouraged our patrons to donate towards real-world charities aimed at helping the victims of COVID-19. Now, with COVID-19 on the rise again, and winter expected to be difficult in many countries, we're pausing our patreon again. Only this time, we're pausing our patreon for the remainder of 2020: November and December. During this time, existing patrons will continue to get their perks, but won't be charged anything. We hope that our existing patrons will consider donating to charity instead. We suggest charities related to helping tackle COVID-19, or help its victims, but there are plenty of lists of good charities online, such as this one by CharityWatch.org, or this one by GiveWell.org. We're sure you can find a worthy cause to donate to. Note that due to the way Patreon works, any new patron who signs up during the pause will still be charged for at least one month. This is an unavoidable consequence of patreon handles pausing. Remember, the coming months may be stressful for many people, but you can help. You can help by donating money to charitable causes. Even if you don't do that, though, you can still help by remembering this is a difficult time for many, so making an extra effort to be nice to others goes a long way.
