On green, its considered powergaming, and not okay. On red (ie: with a known threat) its permissible. Drones should probably not do it regardless of code level. They should focus on repairs. Drones installing new cameras comes across as ghosts just trying to make the antags fail.4 points

I would genuinely be very sad if it was removed. It's an opportunity for some of the most unique roleplaying experiences I've had within the game, and most importantly, an opportunity for people who get thrown in isolation, or get treated like shit by security to get a little compassion. Perhaps it's during the hours I play, but I have rarely, if ever, seen my treatment area turn into a holdout/safe space for sec officers. I think this is partially due to the fact that this server doesn't often see the entire sec team getting wiped out due to murderboning rules that are not present on other servers, but also due to the fact that the role often goes unfilled so sec officers don't immediately retreat to the brig when injured because they often can't expect to get patched up there.2 points

A few potential ideas for rewards I've thought of for this goal. Unlockable Cargo Crates A couple of select cargo crates that only become available after certain point thresholds are met. The first few could be ones that aid in further drilling, such as Oupost Defense crates with gear for fighting off enemy swarms or defending existing pumps. Later crates could be things like exotic material crates containing diamond and bluespace crystals, to make up for mining being distracted by defending the drills. Uncovered Artifacts While drilling, there could be the possibility of unearthing valuables and treasures. The most common would be mined materials, but there could also be a chance of unearthing Necropolis Chests, and in extremely rare cases, a boss chest. Rare Enemy Spawns Drilling could increase the chance of rare fauna spawning, giving those xeno-collectors a fun time trying to catch 'em all (And then force them to defend the very thing they sought to destroy.)2 points

So do I, but I am considering the average person who needs this guide is nowhere near confident enough to not panic while trying to keep someone stable.1 point

Actually forgot to refer to this. First of all, revive drops cuffs, so that does quite significantly change the dynamic, because a reviving cling can and will overpower an officer given the chance, if they're the better spaceman. Second of all, being dragged to the cremator gives other clings an opportunity to save you, like the cooperative antag they are. SRing or decapitating clings immediately upon capture cheats them of their entire revive mechanic. The SOP clearly states they are to be cremated, so presumably they are meant to be lifeforms that can regenerate from anything less than that. It feels incredibly gamey to do something else due to game mechanics working like they do. Clings are weak, their abilities generally suck in comparison to the other antags' analogues, and they're meant to make up for that with persistence.1 point

What do admins think of people constructing cameras in maints? when/when are they not okay. can maint drones make them? is it powergaming? a couple different admins have given me different answers and I always feel weird ahelping about it because there is no general consensus on it. I would love to hear the communities/admins/heads thoughts on this. In my opinion I believe they shouldn't be built on blue/green under the powergaming rule.1 point

The fact that removing a cling's brain somehow stops its regeneration is pretty weird. On many other servers you do in fact have to cremate them (like you are supposed to here). Feels kinda exploity that you can just decap, especially with some officers LITERALLY CARRYING CIRCULAR SAWS OR SR PILLS.1 point

One idea that I thought was very interesting was something along the lines of what this thread suggested, but more expanded upon: Allow Changelings to be decapitated, gibbed, etc. But let them survive anything up to the complete destruction of their body, or at least anything which wouldn't kill a generic horror monster in a movie (Gibbed by an explosion, or dusting/cremating). I can't speak on the coding difficulty of this yet since I haven't actually looked into it, but both decapitated and gibbed changelings still have a fully intact head which their ghost possesses. Maybe that head could grow legs and skitter off, grow a full body back out of the remains of its neck, or just turn into a regular old headslug and escape. I believe that this would fix the majority of the issues plaguing Changelings at the moment, primarily because the only way to be sure that you've killed them would be cremation or dusting. Still not exactly hard to do, but it would solve the annoying "cheesy" methods of beating them and make clings a lot more of an interesting and scary threat to the station than the slight annoyance they currently are. (Not actually a finalised suggestion obviously, just a cool shower thought I had.)1 point

Very much this. Escalate things based on the context - nuke ops coming? Go nuts to spot them. Antag hanging in one area being trouble? Sure. Pre-emptive escalation is shitty, but doing it in direct response to a specific threat is something else entirely.1 point

If there's an actual threat that somehow requires this, that's one thing - same as any other response and preparedness. It very much counts as 'overprepared'. If there's something very bad like slings, or cult are continually using the incinerator as a base - then it comes under 'an attempt to fight back', and thus should only be done with authorisation, overseen by security etc.1 point

I actually prefer those airlock sprites over our current ones, if I'm honest!1 point

I personally feel it should fall under the powergaming rules. Especially for maintenance drones, as this sort of thing violates the spirit purpose behind them being a thing. It's done explicitly to prevent antagonists from 'winning' and is fairly poor form. The only exception I can see is if an antagonist has obliterated security and the last line of defense is the AI.1 point

Finally, settled on a character. Name: O.R.A.N.C.H.E Age: 19 Gender: Identifies as male Race: I.P.C Blood Type: Irrelevant General Occupational Role(s): Psychologist, Coroner, IAA/NTR Biography: O.R.A.N.C.H.E was manufactured on Sol as a retooling of an extremely outdated maintenance-drone hack-up (known as DR-801). Proving to be very intelligent early on in positronic evaluation and testing stages, O.R.A.N.C.H.E began seeking out a career in criminal psychology, with the goal of entering the Trans-Solar Federation's Corporate Investigation Bureau. However, he found that he lacked enough work hours logged within corporate companies to be considered for the position, and the TSF recruiter recommended him Nanotrasen. He accepted, and now works at the NSS Cyberiad. Qualifications: O.R.A.N.C.H.E is qualified in the field of Criminal Psychology, having a bachelor degree in Criminal Psychology and an associates in Forensics. O.R.A.N.C.H.E also expresses an interest in telecommunications and emergency services, and seems to read about those topics often in his free time. The following information is also visible in-game, because I like consistency. Employment Records: O.R.A.N.C.H.E is qualified in the fields of criminal psychology and forensics. He has been employed at the Cyberiad due to a desire to join the TSF CIB (Corporate Investigation Bureau), and plans to work until he meets the TSF CIB requirements for further education and training. Security Records: O.R.A.N.C.H.E is hyperactive and jumpy, leaning heavily towards the "flight" side of the "fight or flight" coin. He seems uninterested in serving Nanotrasen fully, showing loyalty to the TSF rather than Nanotrasen. He seems especially fond of his homeworld, Earth, and it's rural areas. This leads us to believe he's more environmentalist, despite the industrial upbringing. Medical Records: O.R.A.N.C.H.E seems to possess a form of robotic ADHD, and subsequently is very hyperactive. He is also able to generate heat and make a wider variety of noises. His chassis is a relativeley new model of Morpheus Cyberkinetics, designed to resemble the older chassis but be more pleasant to interact with physically. Personnel Photo (Appearance text): He's tall and lanky, with a peach/salmon colored chassis. His screen is a orange heart, and his antenna fold foward. He has scratches and damage all over. His body structure is far more geometric rather than cubic, with more shapes and corners. Other Notes: Criminal Psychology is actually a field I'm studying in real life. Yeehaw.1 point
