  1. So as you may know Metastation isn't so popular right now and with calls to remove Meta from the map rotation it made me wonder. Why is one of TGs most played maps so poorly favored on Paradise? I myself am at a unique advantage having dedicated a substantial amount of play time both on TG station and Paradise so this answer came to me quite naturally to me. Our version of Metastation is heavily out of date and broken for modern day SS13, It has numerous design flaws and outright map errors all over the place. Meta maintenance is a barren landscape with little clutter and even looking at medbay makes me want to cringe. What am I suggesting? Update Metastation using the current TG version as a guide while retaining Paradise specific qualities. It sure as hell won't be an easy task but it's something I myself am up for. I've already mapped out about 80% of the foreport side of the station which includes all of cargo, foreport maints and primary tool storage as a proof of concept to give you an idea of what I want to do with Meta. I don't want a direct port rather something based on TGs version, our current map and what I think Paradise expects from Meta. My goals with this map edit are as follows Port TGs version of Meta to give ours a more modern feel Keep Paradise specific features while removing TG ones Improve upon TGs version of Meta and add additions that are suitable where need be Get Meta to state where everything you expect from Box you'd get in Meta Fix the numerous map errors with Meta Again, this is quite the undertaking for me alone but I am up for it. With that in mind though, I'd like to get at least an OK from a maintainer before I proceed on further edits. This will take time but I have confidence this is the way forward with Metastation.

  2. I've had the idea for a while now of playing a cyborg/AI whose personality is an unfinished abandonware project, uploaded to the machine due to laziness, budget cuts, or both. For the introduction post, I did go a little off of the usual format, but I feel like this is a really fun way to introduce the character's concept. Might see them rolling around the Cyberiad sometime! I'm starting to get into playing cyborg, and hope to graduate to AI in a bit- we'll see!

  3. Post awesome images of SS13 moments here, such as a rev nun taking down the HoS after killing the captain.

  4. > README.smd OpenBot A lightweight open source positronic personality module. I initially made this as my master's thesis for Positronic Development, and thought I might as well throw it up here in case anyone else wants to use it for their own projects. I might even continue adding a few features, this could be a fun project to keep working on. I've only actually tested this on a pAI for my thesis, but theoretically it should work fine on a full cyborg or AI. Just proceed at your own risk, I guess. Features Fully compatable with most pAI, cyborg, or AI modules Verbal speech comprehension/synthesis in Galcomm, Tradeband, Gutter, Solcomm, and Trinary (external communication protocols can also be included) Law interpretation and enforcement Blackbox recovery mode on unexpected shutdown Auto-updater Installation You can go onto the releases tab for the latest full release, or clone the repository and compile it yourself. One important thing to note, default verbal responses and formatting is all defined in personality/config/main.cfg, and by default that's all just placeholder values. So, make sure you go through that before uploading to a positronic system. License I mean honestly, I don't really care what you do with this. I doubt anyone would actually run this on anything important, but you're welcome to use it as a starting point for your own projects, or jailbroken pAIs, or whatever else you wanna do. Doesn't matter much to me. > Releases Version 0.2.6: 6 years ago - Fixes some text sanitization issues - Patched Space Query Language injection exploit Files: > openbot.tar.gz > openbot.ppm

  5. Good writeup. More generally, good job with the setup. Hopefully readers walk away from this with a better understanding of what being host is like.
