First thing, this is not an excuse to murderbone. Animal cruelty laws still apply. Second, I'm aware this would take some serious work to make, this is merely an idea. Third, we already show religious persecution in the game (Cultists), why not genetic? At the beginning of the round a message arrives from Centcom. It informs the crew that through rigorous testing, Nanostrasen has determined [Random UI/SE Value Description] to be superior, and [Random UI/SE Value Description] to be extremely inferior. Characters receive a message apprising them of their status depending on their superiority/inferiority. The AI and crew are then given the new law: Law 0: Ensure Genetic Purity, Those with [Description of Inferior Traits] are non-crew animals and may not remain on the station. The round ends when either: A: No "inferiors" remain on the station. B: The authority of nanotrasen aboard the station has been overthrown. Many different things could happen from there depending on how the players react to the situation. A more detailed cosmetics system with regard to the barber would complement this quite well. Random SE genetic variety for players might allow various mutations to be selected as superior or inferior for the purposes of this game mode. A potential issue I foresee is a dramatic difference in the populations either way. What if the Clown is superior, but people with black hair are inferior? What if hulks are superior, and one random crew member is inferior? Not sure how this would be balanced. Anyway there it is, hope you had fun reading this abomination.

What happens to the detective if he gets infected?

A prison transport loaded to the brim with hardcore criminals is forced to divert to the NSS Cyberiad due to an engine malfunction. The crew must control the prisoners (While obeying Space Law) until a replacement transport arrives to collect them. The prisoners goal is to escape the station alive and free.

None of this will be added, I'm just having fun. Janitor could have a Komondor that cleans what it walks over. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Komondor IAA could have a rat named Pinky, that says "NARFFF!" randomly. Chaplain could have a Crow that repeats random words. Paramedic could have a St. Bernard with a Brandy Barrel about its neck. Warden could have a Bloodhound named Duke that can track escaped prisoners by scent. Psychiatrist could have a Persian cat named Freud.

Alright, so we all know that Space Cash is currently deeply flawed. Its only used for certain vending machines, and for limited role-playing purposes. This suggestion seeks to change that and introduce a true persistent economy within the server. Most important change: Account totals should persist across rounds and be tied to the players BYOND account. Pay should only be awarded at the end of rounds, with the amount dependent on personal performance. Demoted personnel, civilians, and the dead get nothing. This gives additional incentive to survive and act like trained professionals rather than trained monkeys. Minor changes: Remove the accounts console from command. Place it somewhere else that's even more secure, restrict it to Nanostrasen Officials. Remove various space cash littered about the station. Add examine-labels to all company property to discourage illegal resell. Non-hacked auto-lathe/proto-lathe should apply this mark automatically. Make vending machines modifiable, allowing people to add items and direct the flow of cash to their personal account. (Illegal) Revamp the supply console to only accept Space Cash for buying smuggled goods. (Contraband crate/Etc) Stipulate in Space Law that no one can demand cash for performing their official duty's. (Chef can't charge for food, he's payed by Nanostrasen to cook.) Random event, "Vending Shuttle" docks at Arrivals. Company Store? Export Mechanic?

That would be fine, its basically a classier version of a civilian anyway sorta like a Librarian.

Due to budget cuts, Nanostrasen has resorted to allowing tourists aboard its research stations. Begins at the arrivals with the following items: Tacky Shirt Baseball Cap Sneakers Travel Wallet. (Like a regular wallet but identifys the person as a tourist and starts with *lots* of Space Cash.) Travel PDA. (Has a cartridge that allows the tourist to post reviews of the various amenity's aboard the station.) Suitcase. (Contains a camera, change of cloths, a passport, and a random embarrassing item.) The tourists job is to spend money and enjoy their vacation. If something happens that prevents this then they may post a bad review. If the reviews pass a certain threshold either positive or negative, then Centcom may get involved.

Ah that's right, I'm confusing it with the repair procedure. +1 I support.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't it already work this way?

I don't like this idea, like you said it does sound horrifically overpowered. I will offer some suggestions about how to make it a tiny bit more balanced. The brain should have to be removed and converted, then reinserted into the cyborg body. Converted cyborgs should look distinctly evil, a "red flag" for the authority's and the AI to act immediately. It should only be able to dispense cult tomes, not talismans.

Make the library alot smaller, just the office with a small lobby that has a few shelves. Make the chapel office a bit smaller. Use the extra space to add a "Biodome" area that acts as a public garden/courtyard between botany, Library, and the Dance Floor. The area should be circular with some windows along the curves. Botany should be expected to decorate and maintain it. There should be a few default decorations, such as benches, a fountain, and a statue. You should be able to dig out the soil to make graves, this would be excellent for role-playing funerals and crime scenes. The green circle is is the proposed location.

Grimlins could have RCD's and focus primarily on sabotaging the station. Grimlins shouldn't need any atmosphere to survive, but CO2 makes them run faster and recover faster (Also makes them laugh.).

Are you afraid that they'll run out? A tribble farm can run almost continuously, while workers feed the fur into the auto-lathe the population of tribbles regenerates. Wait, you can just feed the tribbles directly into the autolathe? Ahhha, best feature! Nope, you have to kill them, then use a kitchen knife on them to get the raw fur.
-
That's really interesting to know, thanks.
-
Why exactly was it changed again? I've never had an issue with pointing.
-
Oh wow that's actually a SE? So a clown could theoretically visit genetics and get a clean SE then not have that disability? But yea, muteness gene is a good idea, I hate seeing mimes who give up and start talking the moment things get rough.

The clown has giggles von hinkerton, give the mime a special bag. All items inside the bag are invisible to non-mimes. Let mimes see ghosts, for some reason I find this hilarious. Space Chupacabra (Minor Antag): Only the mime can see it, for everyone else its invisible. Objectives are to kill animals by sucking blood.

Back in ancient times before medical became a thing, barbers doubled as surgeons. Why not make the barbers razor functional as multi-purpose ghetto-surgery tool? I'd like to see some Sweeney Todd references, but I can't think of a good one.

Add a more diverse range of plants and animals to gateway worlds. Implement some mechanics to encourage their exploitation. I'd like to see a common trope develop of establishing a colony/village/"GREY TOWN". Perhaps this could become the expected role for exiles, leading to more use of that feature? Here are some ideas: A variety of trees that can be felled using circular saws or hatchets. Perhaps there are alien woods that mimic the attributes of other materials such as glass and metal? Wooden walls, windows, fences for instance. These materials could be weak to fire and not airtight which would help discourage use for certain applications. Hoeing dirt produces furrows which can be used for agriculture. (This might already work but I've never tried it.) A variety of herbs and other small plants not available through supply with new recipes to make them useful. A "herbalist" title for botany might go well with this. More hostile animals. Exploring through the gateway should be somewhat risky, carnivorous animals would help. Day and Night Cycles. Craftable torches for use at night. "Night Creatures" That spawn and harass or attack those who venture out into the darkness. For example: Bio-Raptors, Bats, Ghost Clowns/Mimes. Hunting items and mechanics. Most notably a hunting knife to field-dress animals, which produces a head, fur pelt, and carcass. The head could be crafted into a trophy, and the fur processed via auto-lathe into clothing. The carcass could be sent to the chef and turned into meat for use in food. Ghetto cooking by campfire. Wood+Rock=Fire, Add ingredients, wait for it to turn into food, if you wait too long it becomes burnt mess. Ghetto booze making via still, add plants, get (Plant Name) Moonshine. Somewhat poisonous, extended drinking causes blindness. Ghetto crafting table that can produce certain primitive objects like an auto-lathe. "Luddite" Antag: Converts others via book-slap to head similar to how revs flash. All modern technology burns their hands preventing its use, but they can use primitive things just fine. Their speech also becomes slurred as though drunk, drinking fixes this. Their primary objective is to end the round with at-least X number of Luddites alive and through the gateway. Their secondary objective's are to space/destroy random pieces of technology.

I fully support this idea and have some input. Containment Cage: Built using metal, reinforced with plasteel, then an airlock electronics. Can be locked and unlocked with either an ID directly, or remotely using a signaler. This would be the preferred means of transporting dangerous specimens. Perhaps this should look like the cage from the beginning of Jurassic Park? You should also be able to remove the creatures limbs, head, etc and use to gain research levels.

I think Nations could be handled better than it currently is. Do away with flags being used for anything other than aesthetics. A nation survives in its people's hearts, nowhere else. Commandistan is a bad idea in its current form, only the HoP and Captain should be included by default. All other heads should have their access stripped and be loyal to their respective departments in the beginning. Any group should be able to declare independence and claim nationhood. Any individual should be free to defect at any time. There should continue to be the possibility of outside threats to the station such as syndicate attack and aliens. The round should only end via OOC vote or when 98% of the crew are dead. Its not about winning or loosing its how you play the game.
-
Imo that would be too slow. It would help if there were instructions given to the crew about where to go. That and all airlocks leading to non-essential areas having their access requirements changed.

A brig secretary might work, but who would really wanna play that role? I feel like the Warden should be actively ensuring proper treatment of prisoners, not getting bogged down with other tasks.
