  2. I'm not sure how feasible this is in the code, but shouldn't a mask also hide your flavour text? It's kind of meta to act on flavour text, but it's hard not to act exactly as if you didn't have that information. Equally, flavour text should change when morphed into somebody else.

  8. A big part of being mime is actually thinking of the best emote for what you are trying to convey. Having a dedicated mime language would detract from that.

  10. Stunlock is shitty and needs to die, but I do kind of like that large pressure differences shove you over. It would probably be easy to make it so you can't be pushed over again when you're on the ground. Walls melting in fires make fires more dangerous and something to actually fear. If this is a big problem then the numbers could probably be tweaked so that only the really hot plasma fires melt walls, or make it so it takes a little bit of time for walls to melt.

  13. Just because people don't vote on the polls doesn't mean they have a valid opinion on the subject. They might not have voted for legit reasons, for example: not seeing the poll, not agreeing with any of the options or having split feelings about two options, or not having a strong enough opinion to vote on the matter. As necaladun said, the polls are a really small sample size and are unfairly biased towards people who have strong opinions on the subject. However, that being said, you can *generally* get an idea of what the community wants, but it's in no way scientific.

  15. What exactly would a different map offer in terms of benefits? Other than offering up some excitement, what's there to gain?
  16. Currently, outer space has a lot of easy-to-obtain loot and is therefore very, very powerful. For example you can get: Lots of space suits Lots of power cells A laser gun A stunbaton (from Buzzsky, but he spells death should you get accosted by him) A spacepod And a lot more stuff. At the moment outer space doesn't really pose any challenges apart from requiring some way to survive in space and doesn't feel very interesting once you know where everything is. Adding in some syndicate NPCs on the DJ station, derelict, etc., or maybe some combat drones on non-station z-levels would help liven it up. I appreciate that this would make it death for anyone who's accidentally spaced, though.

  19. Oh actually I reread SOP and it says demotion if no threat manifests so that's fine. Still, often as CE I find I'm doing other things than sitting in engineering babysittng the engine. I get the intent but it's a line that rarely if ever comes up. Either it's enforced and you have most of sec's job on code red being to catch and brig people without suit sensors, or you don't have it enforced in which case why have it in the first place? I feel it's just too stringent to have on a 70+ player round. True. Good point, I guess allowing crew out for a drink is a little nonsensical for a code red. Dorms is fairly central though so I don't think it'dt be that big of a deal, it just feels a little strict for a large server such as ours. Lore-wise, tajarans are loyal and cooperative but I don't really see that in our server population. I meant disallow an early launch - after the shuttle docks, but before it is scheduled to leave.
  20. CE shouldn't be demoted if the singulo is sabotaged, and indeed if the singularity is eating the station then the last thing sec want to bother with is the CE's demotion. The code blue / red suit sensors stuff is very hard to enforce and even check, wastes sec's time, and hardly anyone bothers with them anyway. Change to optional. AIs don't bother with bolting down secure areas, this could probably be removed. Change the requirement for crew to be in their departments to allow them out of it if needed (e.g. paramedic responding to a medical emergency). Allow crew to be in dorms or the bar. Allow AIs to be brought back to Centcomm for whatever reason. Disallow an early shuttle launch if no threat to the shuttle is evident.
  21. Simple, add a cigar vendor (in the bar?) to sell cigars of varying types and prices. Cigarillo (Price: 200) - "A short and narrow brown roll of tobacco. Laugh at cigarette smokers while smoking this." Havana cigar (Price: 500) - "A large brown tube of what you can only assume to be tobacco leaves." Premium Cuban cigar (Price: 1000) - "Imported after NT lobbying to the Space Cuba Trade Embargo. Looks highly smokeable." (When hacked) Suspicious cigar - "Warm smell of this, rising up through the air." These could have a little meds inside them or something.
  22. I had an idea the other day for a coffee lounge to replace the vacant office. Make it open-air and have wooden tables, and comfy chairs, and a bit for a barista to serve coffee and snacks behind (alt-titled bartender?). Add bookcases and have them spawn with a couple random books from the library database, and add a couple of newspapers so people can read stuff while drinking their latte. Add storage with some coffee beans so that botany aren't immediately pressed to grow beans. Make the floor wood / carpet to look nice. Another idea (which ties in with this and was mentioned on another thread) is a coffee system! New item: coffee machine, lots of functionalities such as: Dispense normal coffee, ice, and water. Make frothed milk and steamed milk out of milk. Make espresso shots (add a glass and coffee beans to the machine, click it and out pops 15u of espresso) Add syrups and sprinkles to drinks. Other items: Handheld coffee grinder, makes ground coffee from added coffee beans. (maybe you can specify the grind and it extracts different based on how finely you grind it?) Amaretti biscuits, for a nice little snack. Cigars? Recipes: Espresso shot: add espresso to glass. Americano: 1:1 espresso:water. Latte: 1:2 espresso:steamed milk. Cappucino: 1:2 espresso:foamed milk. Mocha: 1:1 espresso: steamed milk, finish with chocolate sprinkles. Macchiato: 2:1 espresso:foamed milk. And other such coffee-based drinks. Have beneficial effects from drinking coffee made like this so it's not just completely aesthetic. (Hyperzine obviously, how about some tricordrazine? Maybe methylphanidate for the funkier drinks?) Thoughts and criticisms? Would you use an area like this?

  24. Non-player-controlled carp makes going into space when there's carp an absolute deathtrap as they don't generally attack the station if they don't see a target and will swarm you in groups of two or three. Whether this is intended or not is another matter.
  25. I was the surgeon who fixed you up. I remember having several EMP grenades being waved at me to, uh, "entice" me into doing surgery. We then ran into maint as soon as you were fixed up to avoid certain death. Whee. Of the crew left on the shuttle, only some random dude wearing an engineering hardsuit, AREN, and myself (TRIS) escaped. IPC masterrace <3
