  1. Not sure if bug or not, but the HoP has Construction site, maintenance and engineering access. I don't know if he is supposed to be able to move round in engineering but to get inside engineering (even the foyer) he would either need power equipment access or atmos access, engineering access is not going to cut it. I have just tested it with a bunch of IDs at round end. If HoP is not supposed to be inside of engineering that's fine by me, just wondering why he has the engineering and construction site access.
  2. A hand labeler only adds to the existing name and is also subject to the 26 character limitation. 1024 character limit would just be to much for everything. Also just flat out allowing like 50 characters for all names will most likely lead to odd behaviour when displaying names in all the different device on the station, like Crew monitor, PDA messenger, ... But considering that the Autopsy device already creates papers with names like "Autopsy Report: Unknown (as Makkota Atani)", which are definitely more than 26 characters, i don't see why a player shouldn't also be able to do that, at least for Paperwork.
  3. Not saying that vox cloning was anywhere close to beeing perfect, but it was possible. You could eject the body early out of the cloning machine hook up internals and throw him into cryo. There should also be a guide on here that describes the process. The fix to a badly implemented feature should never be just removing it entirely. Here is an easy fix: Make the clone spawn with a masks with a small tank attached, the tank has 3-5 minutes worth of nitrogen supply, use the sprite of a normal mask, done, fixed.
  4. What are the options for dead players now anyway? Pets Most of the time confined in their office and when outside you are basicly try to survive on a station where 50% of the crew is out to kill you, god knows why. Maintenance Drone You can move around open airlocks and interact with your enviroment. Biggest flaw: no interaction at all with other players, except for them smashing your circuits to pieces. I mean i get that they are not supposed to impact the round via opening airlocks or repair/destroy vital stuff, but if i want to ping happily at someone who pets me than let me fucking ping at him! It's a multiplayer RP game after all. Diona Most likely one of the best choices because you could evolve back into the game. Golem, cultist summons and other rare stuff Gimmick and not reliable. ERT If you like playing ERT, this would probably the no. 1 choice. Admin Spawn + Random events Very rare, but most likely lots of fun. The first 3 options are fairly common / accessible, but are weak substitute for a normal character and are meant for player that are dead to have something to do until the next round starts. Not letting a player be revived / cloned to play a weak substitute for the character that he is no longer allowed to play doesn't make sense to me. The last 3 options offer gameplay that would be equal or maybe better then your dead character but they just happen way to rarely to be a valid reason to not let someone get back into his character. Ok, ERTs are called fairly regulary but often they are called in the wrong situations and i am probably not the only one who dislikes playing them. Edit: Guess i forgot to mention pAI, which are great if you like this sort of RP and get a decent partner / master. Very good but also sort of rare and definitely not everyones thing.
  5. I looked that up in the code, the character limit for almost all names is determent by the constant "MAX_NAME_LEN" (26 character). papers, folders, chaplain religion, floorbots, everything... Bodybags for some reason use "MAX_MESSAGE_LEN" (1024 character) for the character limit.
  6. I really don't like playing ERT in general and try to avoid it. It's a personal thing, to much chaos and usually very bad RP. I would enjoy beeing spawned in as ninja or xeno, but this almost never happens. I don't think this sort of things justify a bunch of players not beeing propperly cloned or revived. If you would announce it in dead chat, i have the choice to avoid beeing cloned and wait to be spawned as ninja or xeno. Give me the choice, because chances are high i won't accept beeing spawned as ERT anyway.

  9. Well i stand by watching Vox beeing nerfed bit by bit, because i aggreed that they were overpowered when they were first introduced. I am kind of meh on removing the already weakened leap, but i could accept that. What i can't accept is the fact that they can't be cloned anymore. This has little to do with game balance but more with removing players from the round. (I haven't tryed cloning vox myself, but i was a vox about to be cloned and two doctors aggreed on the fact that the DNA scanner is refuseing me. So i can only assume vox not beeing able to be cloned is a thing) There are only two ways for you to get back into the game: The first is beeing brain transplanted and cloned into a random body. Which requires more effort from medical staff then a simple clone and just won't happen because people are either to busy or to lazy for that. Even if it happens you most likely end up in a randomly colored retarded looking furball. Sorry but i can't play serious like that and even worse, you get a different name or you get a vox name and look like a furball. The DNA change just doesn't work correctly accross races. So you get this whole issue of your ID not matching your name, beeing arrested, going to HoP and stuff. You are better of just asking the geneticist to make you a monkey so you can go and derp around the station. The second would be borging, which also requires more effort and materials and it's a very different gameplay, which i don't enjoy beeing forced in.

Definitely wouldn't mind this to be a bit easier to use, i do aggree that clicking the pads can be a little clunky, especially if you move back on it and try to click it below the hologram to make it go away. If this could be also made a verb or a click button on the AI UI with little effort, this would be neat. But i am already happy with more holopads on the station. Thanks!

  15. The AI got default listening access to all station channels right now and the idea of coms shortcuts (like or :c) have been floating around for quite some time. I was wondering why this shortcuts weren't implemented for the AI yet. Is this is there a balance issue or a coding issue with this one? The Station can get quite a high player count and switching channels is so tedious and a waste of time. I mean, you allways have to hit the AI core button to return the camera to your core, click the global coms to switch the mic off, click another coms terminal and switch the mic on and possibly change frequencies. Just to write on sentence and revert the coms terminals back again. Resulting in AI answers beeing delayed for no apparent reason. Immagine forcing this on every player when they want to use their headset, everyone would flip their shit. For an AI that can hack into airlock controls and electrify them with a click of a button, switching coms should be a rather easy task, but it's not.
  16. Every time i play AI i kind of wish that there would be many more holopads on the station. AI holopads seems to have been overlooked somewhat regularly when the map was changed. At least for me holopads are a big part of playing AI and them beeing so limited right now really annoys me. I don't think there is a valid reason not to have them around, they are hardly gamebreaking in any way, they just allow more RP possibilites for an AI player.
  17. Yep, i could see a engineering / cargo - sec guard protecting their crew in E.V.A. with a hardsuit. It's just that this two hardsuits would almost double the current amount of availiable security hard suits (depends if you want to count the pilot hardsuit). Not sure how this would end up balance wise. The combat gloves as replacement for insulated gloves would make sense, but i don't think giving a sec guard insulated gloves would send the right message. They are supposed to protect the department and not to actually work as an engineer. People are very focused on stuff they get by round start. This whole "i have access to it = i am supposed / allowed to use it in any way i want" mentality is very stronk. If the CE hands you insulated gloves and allows you to do minor repairs, that's something completly different, but people hate it, if someone (especially security) invades their workspace and thinks they can do everything better and faster.
  18. Ah, no, do you realize how damned deadly their claws are? If they are really that bad, then they should be nerfed in general. The cutting of nails seems more like a gimmick (that definitely would fit into the crazy world of SS13).
  19. I am defenatly a fan of this idea. Security is understaffed almost every round considering how much player are online. So it's not a bad idea to add some more fun to security, or at least mix it up a bit. This will definitely drag more players into security. From the few times i did something similar ingame, i really noticed that people accept you much more if you are "their" security guard and not just a random sec officer. You can work much much more efficient if you are around that department a lot and get to meet all the members and get a gerneral feel for the overall situation of the department. You can make much better decision as if you are called to science because two guys are fighting each other 1.5 hours into the round. For this to work it's imperative that you have access to the department radio channel and basic department access to walk around. The non department security guards could mainly patrol the hallways and the other non department areas. The department security guards can call for assistance from the non department security guards if shit goes down. With the added benefit, that they actually could let them inside and security doesn't need wait at the department entrace anymore, screaming in global coms for someone to let them inside. I think it's debatable if the department security guards should get added equipment like insulated gloves (combat gloves) and hardsuits. For the sake of actual implementation, they don't even need a dedicated office. I mean it would be neat, but if that's blocking this idea from happening i would rather do it without the offices. Edit: I would defenatly dial down on the karma cost, or even better, make it a single unlock for like 30. It's actually really difficult to gain karma on this server if you gain it the "legit" way, because people tend spend it only for the person killing the malf AI or their friends (ooc or IC) and stuff like that. It should be somewhat available since it would be part of the core gameplay and not just some nice to have once in a while job like NT Rep or magistrate.
  20. I was thinking about the filter only beeing damaged when it actually has to filter harmful gases. It would be to much of a balance chance if the filter would protect continous 30 minutes against plasma. But it could also be made that normal usage of the gas mask slowly destroyes the filter too. Actually that could help to not make everyone run around with a gas mask, because it would be tedious to run to engineering like every 30 minutes to get a new gas mask/fliter. Something like: - a filter has 40 durability - every minute wearing it removes 1 durability. - 1 Second of the filter filtering plasma reduces durability by 1 - other gases could have smaller values like 0,5 or 0,3 per second... If the durability of the filter is 0 then the gas mask looses the passive protection and you start breathing plasma (when internals off). Using gas mask with internals would not damage the filter and even if the filter is "borken" the internals still work. What do you guys think?

  25. It would be great if we could make the labor camp usable and save for both security and the inmates so we could mabe get to the point where prisoners could requests to be transferred to the labor camp if they have a timer 15 min+.
