Proto-Kinetic Harpoon: A tube-like artifact that hides within a small-matter compilator that turns the carbon around the air into mono-filament spearheads while using the same method of compiled kinetic energy of the accelerator to create a mining explosion on contact with tough surfaces.
Methods of use: Throwing it at a wall of rock in a low-pressure enviroment creates a 3x6 mining explosion in the direction it was thrown in, allowing for expansive mining ops, using it (but not throwing it) to attack a mob instead will attach an explosive spearhead onto them, the explosion is treated as a PKA blast point-blank but can be weaker or stronger depending on a proper timing of its detonation by using it at hand.
Why this would be good for the game: Often, the mining explosion mods are overlooked over the DPS provided by a full-cooldown setup or the ease-of-use of a plasma cutter, as well as the protection of a ripley, so, to actually feature it more prominently a small little buff to its mining capabilities as well as offering a new combat style can encourage the under-used mechanic much like the Kinetic crushers emphasis on melee and aggression as well as extra mining range at early game can do.
Addendum: Though I haven't thought up what adding trophies from fauna could do to the harpoon and its functionality, Combat while present is supposed to take a bit of a stepback of the tool being a mining tool in special, as well as it mining voucher starter kit offering jump-boots for greater mobility and incentive to try with the safe-net much like the Crusher's pocket extinguisher.
