Okay, I JUST got this idea, looking back at this good ol' game called "Destroy All Humans". What if, the Greys have this ability to create an illusion to others based on their appearance? They would be given a modified CMA menu with the spell that would have a heavy cooldown and would require the Grey's to stand still for a solid minute so they can focus their mental ability to form this illusion. They would be able to alter their racial appearance(WITH LIMITS TO WHAT SORT OF RACES THEY CAN PICK, NO SKELETONS OR SHADOWLINGS) as well as customize their appearance just as a CMA would allow you to. What would separate this ability to the normal admin triggered CMA would be they could not change their DNA, fingerprints, name, or stats with this ability, only giving them the appearance of a different being. Now, before you say too op, this ability requires them to use tremendous concentration, making them weaker and slower with this ability active. This ability can also only works so long as their form is not touched. Meaning any physical damage while using this ability would double the damage taken to them and also bring them out of the power, returning them to their actual appearance. So to state clearly, this ability would be AESTHETIC ONLY with a heavy debuff at the cost of having it active. I would really love some feedback on this idea.

Seems a bit like Diona 2: Electric Boogaloo.

Thanks Fox for only covering just one of the two suggestions. Like the server is just teeming with high RP in this somewhat deluded Medium RP server. I can really tell by everyone that slime person is really difficult RPing. This is getting real silly. Imagine if the Mechanic's Pod, it can be build and all that fancy shit, but it can't move on space tiles after a pod nerf to prevent nuke ops having a chance to be revealed after landing at telecomms and or the station or general antags being discovered in maint by a passing pod. Would you expect people just sit on that for half a year? Of fucking course you wouldn't, Fox, because that undermines the concept of a mechanic, their only trait. You'd be getting yelled at from left and right by upset people spending 30 karma for the job's only skill to be useless until you fixed it back to it's working order. Having a race with their only noticeable trait being made completely useless, what is the point of even having them in the code? You might as well get rid of them if you're not even going to touch it. A race with a special ability such as project mind should not be looked at as something that needs a nerf but rather a race that should be planned around if you're really going after one, and perhaps a bit more skill if you seem to keep getting caught by someone who could just shout over radio that you're fiddling with a holoparasite and your pda in maint. I consider you a friend and a good coder Fox, but this shit is getting old. It's like the only way you see everyone being happy is if we make every race a grey stat reskin of a human.

Give Greys the Empathetic Thought power alongside telepathy
nickcrazy replied to Scrat's topic in Suggestions
Here's implying that anyone gives even half a fuck about their in-game currency unless there is a claw machine around. Hey now! If Jonah Bright doesn't have any money in his account, how am I going to win it all via blackjack when I set a table up? -
Nagging at Johannhawk, I realized Greys have become laughably overpriced for the abilities they have now. Back then, let's say half a year ago. The Greys were able to talk with each other across the station and at other people, although non-Greys would not know who it was speaking to them, along with a weaker melee attack and weaker than other people. Now, Greys are still as weak, but their project mind no longer has the effect that it once had, only able to speak to a person within visual range. To make it clear, you would be paying 30 karma, to have SUPA SECRET!!11! conversations with some guy you could easily just whisper to. Not to mention this nerf to their telepathic talk goes against their lore that states they are a hive minded race, undermining the core concept of their most distinct trait. Looking at a free race, say, a Diona. The Greys race abilities are significantly less powered than a dionas. Now I'm not stomping my feet here asking for someone to give Greys this long winded list of new powers and debuffs. I'm just saying that perhaps Greys should not cost karma in their current state or that we could instead replace their project mind with the Wyrns(if I'm spelling it right) ability to use hive mind with each other. Also as a side not, would anyone ever like to fix that one pixel that hangs off a Grey's left hand as well as their ass sticking out through their jumpsuits? EDIT: Here's this new idea that I thought of on the second page and I'm putting it here just so people don't have to look for it. I agree completely, especially now that shooting them with a pod has become slightly more difficult since they can dodge. I think the possibility for carps to show up should at least be lowered down so that not every round will have the issue of carp appearing.

Pure and simple, add a sprite of the security jumpsuits that would fit a Vox. With the port of the Vox sprites like swat helmets and syndicate hardsuits, I believe we should at least give the Vox a proper fitting security jumpsuit sprite.

This a very simple, simple suggestion. Can we just make it to where the fax machine WON'T use toner to fax messages to Central Command, but have it use toner to receive faxes?
-
There's a suggestion up for chaplain abilities that might give ghosts something to do.
-
I'm going to disregard the inb4s. That being said, anyone who isn't an admin being able to spawn stuff is generally a REALLY BAD IDEA! But, I do believe an area ghosts could respawn into that would be on a z-level of it's own that would basically look like some sort of recreation place. Maybe a pool, bar, garden maybe. Stuff like that would be cool. Of course people would use it as a way to be dicks and just start beating the shit out of each other, but it's a place ghosts can respawn in, meaning you can't exactly be killed in that area. Just put some disposals and space cleaner/soap around the recreation center to clean up after a purgatory brawl. tl;dr: The dead can just chill in an ooc area that they can interact with with other ghosts.

I absolutely support this! But does that mean we would have to lockbox the airhorn?
-
You know, funny enough I believe Kluys expressed interest in making a race that had powers that would grant buffs and stuff like that to others but not themselves. I believe if we took the initial idea he had for some of the buffs which I can't remember because it was a long ass time ago, it would be sort of cool for the chaplain to be able to hone their abilities to learn those powers and actually be less useless on the station. However, I believe there should be some side effects to any buff a chaplain can grant, like a 10 percent chance to backfire and a 40 percent chance to fail giving only 60 percent chance to successfully buff another player.

I like the wig idea more because then the vox, kidan, and grey can also get in on that.
-
This all the way!

I was thinking while one holopad conversation is going on, the AI can join in if they want.
-
Love it.

While yes, this will be under used in comparison to other forms, I think it is a good idea to have in the server as a way to enrich the roleplaying experience, such as it being a neat form of private communication with other departments and heads, or being a way to safely allow a criminal to stand trial while also be confined in a secure area of the brig, appearing before a trial as a hologram.
-
This might be a bit of a crazy idea, but what if there was a better way of communicating with someone in a way that would make use of the holopads in every room of the station besides the AI? Here's how it would work, a player character would step onto the tile that the holopad is on, clicking it underneath them. They get an option to either request the AI's presence or to send a holopad communication request. After selecting the send a holopad communication request, you would get a list of all the holopads on the station. Selecting one would then send a request to the selected holopad. The holopad in question would state something along the lines of, "Holographic Transmission Request from [holopad origin] by [character name]." anyone in earshot of it could approach the holopad and click it, giving the option to accept the communication request or decline it. If accepted, it would use a holographic image of the player character that the AI also has the ability to use. The person sending the request would then have control of the hologram and be able to speak through it just as an AI could, though they may not be able to interact with their inventory or use any items in their hand at the time while the communication continues. At any point, either party can stop the transmission by either clicking on the holopad if they are recieving or go to the object tab and hit end transmission if they are the ones sending it. Of course, I believe sending a holopad communication request should have at the very least the same cooldown time as a fax machine would with sending a fax to central command. I also believe that if we wanted to broaden the scope of this idea, Central Command itself would have the ability to instead of having to waste precious fuel to investigate a situation, they could simply use holographic communication transmissions to get a better scope of the situation and then decide to waste the fuel to go or not if they deem their physical presence is necessary on the station. This is just an idea though but I believe it is possible with byond and could be something that would further enrich the roleplaying experience.

That being said, I'm all for turning the holodeck into a VR area if we can find that coding for the VR.
-
That is already a thing admins can do I believe.
-
I would love making these races public, but the wryn one just seems silly and useless.
-
I completely forgot about the Skrell. That being said, if this would be a new race, how would it be different from the Skrell?
-
I am all for adding races as long as they are balanced. Perhaps instead of a crawling thing, just give them a small thing like being unable to be slipped by wet floors. That being said... do you think they would be taken aback by a space carp wall mount?

If not nerf, at least increase it to a 20 TC item

Proposal to bring back the Supermatter engine.
nickcrazy replied to Citinited's topic in Suggestions
Basically, if the super matter shard is eaten by the singularity, it starts a rapidly moving super singularity that is really big, sets anything that is 25 tiles away on fire, and throws objects into it, smacking anyone in the objects way. If I remember correctly that is.
