  1. This. Is. Amazing. What is it? (For those who can't visit the wiki page...?) It's a complete overhaul of our current assembly system (the thing that's created when you unscrew an igniter and a timer and shove 'em together). Among other things, this will allow for stationary health scanners that automatically heal people from a limited supply of chemicals, automated announcement systems, custom screen displays, or attachable assemblies that can do any of the above and more. The devices can be painted to look like other items, too! The PR on bay hasn't been made yet, but when it does, we really should look into getting paradise compatible with it! [spoiler2]And if someone (maybe me if I ever move beyond changing single lines of examine code) adds attaching signallers to computers and other machines, we'll be able to make some REALLY intricate contraptions :3[/spoiler2] Thoughts?
  2. Name: N.O.V.A Age: 22 Gender: NULL : //Female Sexuality: NULL Race: IPC Blood Type: NULL General Occupational Role(s): Science! (heehee!) Is okay with taking other jobs, but will frequently neglect duties to perform more experiments. Biography: Extremely outgoing, and absolutely loves any kind of science, but tends to lose herself in her work, becoming almost mad-scientist style absorbed in whatever she is doing. Adores testing, and pretends to be completely without morals, but turns out to be a friendly person in the end. Very, VERY excitable, but when 'lost' in her work, becomes focussed to a fault and can begin to ignore interesting phenomena, which she chastises herself for. Tends to lag out and stall when presented with an excessive amount of information, or when particularly mentally stimulated. Name Acronym: Nonregistered Observational Virtual Android [spoiler2]don't judge me, i had to backronym it really hard.[/spoiler2] Qualifications: Masters in General Sciences, Bachelors in Robotics and Implantation Surgery, Doctorate in Research and Chemical Formulation. Four-Year Runner Up in Most Unethical (But Legal) Sciences competition. Employment Records: Takes almost any work in the Science department. Security Records: Follows most laws, but will pursue scientific advancement with reckless abandon. Suspect for an unregistered posibrain-integrated personality. Medical Records: Please direct medical treatment to Robotics. Frequently discovered nearly completely nonfunctional due to self-experimentation. Personnel Photo (Appearance text): She's an IPC, and so has a mass-produced chassis size. Her chassis is sprayed a lighter shade of grey than the standard brand. She frequently utilizes a rainbow monitor display, but will change it to suit her mood. Commendations [only to be added by admin]: Reprimands [only to be added by admin]: Other Notes: Long story short, her posibrain wasn't meant to have a personality, so she's frequently cheery to a fault, until she suddenly becomes very focussed. This is what causes the fault when she is particularly mentally stimulated, causing her to experience reaction lag or complete stalling. [spoiler2]is this too snow flakey? i bet it's too snowflakey. ban this sick filth.[/spoiler2]
  3. We could look into having something like goon does, where you can program chemical synthesizers to automix chemicals. Just not have them coded in freaking Brainfuck
  4. I feel like greys should be the dump stat for any "useless" psychic powers - Nothing powerful like xray-vision or telekinesis.
  5. You could have day progression tied to last round's crew score. If it's a really poor crew score, increase by a week, or even a month. This'd keep RP, as well as give players a day/time to talk about, and still retain the logging ability.
  6. It would certainly make sepia slime cores more fun.
  7. Here's an idea- Automated injection units, creatable in R&D with a moderate amount of biotic research. Works like a grenade, with attachable mechanisms, but instead of exploding, releasing the reagent everywhere, it simply injects whoever is holding it or has it implanted. [spoiler2]InB4 advanced mutation toxin injectors set to activate on critical condition. I shall be preserved as a slime![/spoiler2]
  8. I want disabled limbs (and spawning with appropriate cane/wheelchair) just to be Dr. House or a generic anime Sick Girl archetype
  9. We're going full touhou, now.
  10. I'm going to be honest here, I've seen maybe two rounds where voxen actually managed to be raiders and not traiders. And even then, the skipjack is sucked clean dry and catapulted into the sun to the asteroid about half the time, at least from personal experience. Anything to stop the odd greytide with a little too much spare time and perflurodecalin from screwing over an already difficult and frequently disliked role.
  11. These are all reasons why I made these suggestions; They suck now, let's make them unsuck.

    Statues.

Even better if you can make a statue of anyone in sight! That way, you can honor the Craptain by making a statue of him out of gibtonite, then throwing him into it.
  13. We really don't have enough character customization, besides color. This'd be amazing, especially since it'd give bored spriters things to do, since most of our recent code has been mostly just... code. Also, if you ever feel like adding goon's minorly robust traits system, I'd not be opposed at all.
  14. An idea I had a while back was that the pAI door interface could be used on consoles and machinery as well, so the pAI could control equipment for its owner, as long as it wasn't moved. Simply looking at the consoles could be cool, too.
  15. Er, xenoarchaeology is in the process of being reprogrammed and made 10 times better than it was. We'd still use the science outpost for that.
  16. Even just fixing the paintings disappearifying would be nice enough for me, but if someone added saving paintings and drawing on paper, I'd be SO INCREDIBLY HAPPY. I'd be 50x happier if drawings on paper could be made into books so I can have picture books in the library.
  17. My point was, rather, that the original concept for the race was overpowered, and this is possibly a better balance. Yes, this is obvious.
  18. So, it's definitely too early to pull a Thread Necromancer card on Sigholt's Resomi thread, but at the same time, I wanted to propose a few ideas that I found (probably?) more favorable than replacing the vox with an admittedly broken race. Pulling from my list of suggestions (which are totally not mashups of others'), 5x5 Vision range, the fifth being halfshaded like the welder overlay. Any living thing outside vision range has a greyish silhouette marking its location. Adorably small sprite. To help with spriting, you could give them a single Resomi uniform, or two uniforms, one for command. Allow them to be picked up, but too large to be put in a backpack. We don't need someone carrying around an army of Resomi on their back. At best, make their weight enough that the backpack could only store the one. Screw the whole small eyes thing, welding tools hurt like hell. However, becoming blind would still allow them to "see" via hearing, and in fact allow the overlayed grey sprites to show up everywhere on screen. A few other suggestions that I found of note Garoon suggested: Modified hardsuits - However, this becomes moot if/when Fox gets the hardsuit mods automatically happen. Fragility - This will be addressed later. Mouse Eating - This is necessary. For adorableness. Fox noted: They have half the health of everyone else - This is ABSOLUTELY ENOUGH when it comes to fragility. We wouldn't need damage modifiers if this was put in, since it's essentially a global 2x modifier. They gain hallucinations and shock stages when alone - I love this idea, it encourages group travel and lets people roleplay better! Also, overall just a nice little effect. Shock stages, however, may be a little overboard. Specialty clothing - You could take my earlier suggestion, or you could make your own clothing. Do as you wish, I suppose. Something I'd like to stress, though, is that I am heavily against movement speed buffs. Unless a race is sufficiently debuffed to make it worth it, I'd veto most suggestions for it. The essentially ESP but without names makes these guys a little too powerful to also add movespeed - even counting the half-health. Post any other suggestions in the comments! Hopefully this'll rekindle the debate going on, and potentially make Sigholt's suggestion at least partially fulfilled!
  19. The question we really ought to ask more often is what would it break? In this case, not much. Not only that, but if we do ever upgrade to the better virology that Fox suggested, it definitely seems more of a science thing. I'm for it.
  20. You are able to delete your own threads, now, I believe.
  21. Reading through the thread, if we accept the changes some people proposed, these guys are actually a fairly good idea - Not to replace Vox, but as a new race. However, I already feel the school systems cancelling school days from the sheer quantity of snowflake code. I kinda picture them with: 5x5 Vision range, the fifth being halfshaded like the welder overlay. Have I mentioned how adorable the sketch is by the way I love Fox's notes, as well, such as loneliness causing hallucinations, and the half-health. However, if they have half the health of normal, they should *NOT* take more brute/burn than normal. Also, the movement speed buff should not be absurd. The whole plastic-flaps-abuse is a *no* for me. Finally, on the subject of genetics usage, I think they should not react to the dwarf gene, so they don't get any smaller.
  22. Perhaps give them a small chance of doing either clone damage or electrocuting them to fit with the slime theme? Clone damage thing probably wouldn't mean much besides the person fighting them needing to stop by medbay. We need this. So badly. Maybe even apply this to the little slimes so that they can "evolve" using consumed nutrients. I am a little iffy on this one, since I tend to wait around until my hunger's red to actually eat something. I do like the idea of nutrient = blood, though, but maybe make it so they don't actively lose hunger levels unless healing themself or bleeding? Just for sanity's sake, make this have a delay before activating, and make this delay restart whenever you're attacked. We really do not need another diona. Super big proponent for this, though. We could really use some more diversity, especially with how amazingly the recent IPC changes went.
  23. Remember when we had the DJ room? Shove whatever got put there outta the way and insert glorious capitalist vices.
  24. IPC MASTER RACE, PERFORM OPCODE: TOWER OF AWESOME >Every IPC on the serve piggybacks one another into a tower of scrap metal< IT IS COMPLETED. Maybe there should be a max amount of people in a piggystack ride, but maybe not. Crawling is needed. Forever. Even if only to become solid snake. Personally, the more ideas we take from other servers, the better. Para is (from what I've seen) SUPPOSED to be this supermassive amalgamation of ideas shoved together that work for some reason.
