  1. The majority of these items exist (plasma-injected lights, fake gloves) already and are fairly easy to get. Why make a kit of it? Also, why would you use disappearing blueprints? Where would that help? The idea of sabotaging a power cell would be a cool one, though I wouldn't make it a traitor uplink item.

    Laptops

I believe what Orelbon is suggesting is to be able to wrench or weld the laptops to a table, so that not just any old civilian can come up and take your frequently used laptop off your desk.
  3. This, only if the ability to build holopads is added, so that we can have holographic assemblies of heads of staff in the Captain's room (every sci-fi ever)
  4. Chaplains tend to call me a demon. As a bartender, I shot one in the chest and flushed them. I was surprised to see them come back. Edit: Interestingly enough, a chaplain worshipping satanism called me an angel.
  5. Name: Spirit Age: 26 Gender: Female Race: Plasmaman Blood Type: N/A General Occupational Role(s) (In order of most to least common): Scientist / RD (When applicable) Engineer / CE (See above) Chemist Librarian Bartender Biography: She left her home world to escape it's overbearing theocratic society, and joined a Nanotrasen research vessel which had landed to study her people. She has found work enjoyable since. Of note is her particularly 'clinical' speech pattern, which she adopted from having learned Common from a computer learning software, as opposed to a sapient tutor. Qualifications: Despite a lack of degree, she has proven quite capable in remembering procedure and performing higher-level math calculations, making her fit for the measurement-heavy engineering work and scientific work which she normally resides in. She uses her chemical knowledge to be a potent bartender in her free time, and enjoys reading on the side. Employment Records: She has worked with Nanotrasen since leaving her home planet; Being a tech-level 1 society, there were not many job opportunities afforded to one of her insubstantial physique. Security Records: She tends to side with the law, rather than against, though has been seen making casual, ineffectual threats to those who insult her based on her race. Medical Records: Though she is generally quite fit, she may occasionally stop by with burns, which is common for one of her kind. As for medical knowledge, she is a potent chemist, and has also studied cloning in a successful attempt at finding a way of cloning her own kind. Personnel Photo (Appearance text): She is, like most plasmamen, a purple, glowing skeleton. She does not generally wear adornments or fashion equipment, as she finds them to be unnecessary and ridiculous when she already has a full-body suit. Commendations [only to be added by admin]: Reprimands [only to be added by admin]: Other Notes: [OOC] Taking after a trend started by Leaflet, her flavor text is a short blurb of text I found meaningful. "Undying Soul," since she is Spirit.
  6. Which would be a part of why we can't use goon's system. The other part being, goon refuses to release code.
  7. This will be freaking impossible to code, but, hear me out. This idea is for all electronics (computers, PDAs, even doors) to be programmable and interfaceable in a similar way to Goon, but obviously in a unique-ish way. This could make hacking an interesting new mechanic (though, if it were to replace hacking, the coding style would have to be easy to understand). This would also allow enterprising players to use computers and create new GUIs for existing jobs, or even automate jobs. A few examples of where this would greatly help: Telescience, where one might be able to code an automatic coordinate solver, or PDA-based control of the telepad (or both, of course) The brig, where one could automate time and record updating, with the end user needing only to choose which crimes the prisoner is being arrested for. Cargo, where requests are routed to the QM's PDA and accepted or denied easily. Engineering, for easy monitoring of the SM / Singularity, control of emitters, output of solars, etc. Chemistry, where one could preprogram all of the chemical recipes, making life easier. The library; no more does the librarian have to babysit the computer and print books or do check-in/outs. Atmospherics, where one could automate fire mix output or alarm control Of course, there could be plenty of more malicious uses. Set up a door hacking software to remotely let your buddies out of jail! Send a virus of your own to the clown, autorunning a program which fries their PDA. Blame the AI for various electronic malfunctions that you orchestrate! Automate a proximity bomb launcher with the recently buildable mass drivers! Use telescience to faux-BSA people via suit sensors. (Hack telecomms to make it seem legit!) Cry a little on the inside when your code eventually backfires and is used against you! Cry even more when it simply refuses to work! And various quality-of-life uses, like A PDA book reader, for when the library is simply too far. (I expect you have the obesity gene turned on) Remotely play the games in escape! Make your own games because the ones in escape are rage-inducing! Automatically send PDA messages, or have automated responses! Bash the clown with your newly program-bogged-to-uselessness PDA! Now, this is an immensely difficult idea on it's own, but why not step it up a notch? Various automated loading/unloading machines, to further automate jobs Buildable conveyor belts because they've been needed since forever Blank computer circuits, so you can program computer consoles to better and replace the average ones Encryption methods, which makes it more difficult or impossible for programs to access things (Command doors, the escape shuttle computer, etc). Object scanners, to determine some variables about objects Object users, which can use a single tool/object on something inside of it. And all of this possible with something such as NTSL applied to basically everything?
  8. Personally, I've never had to deal with a lack of nitrogen as a Vox. Even if I lost my tank, I could probably get dosed up on charcoal / pentetic and get help from engineering or science for that. Besides, if there's a Vox nitrogen tank, wouldn't there also be a Plasmaman plasma tank?
  9. Turns out, I never made an introduction. So, heya. Been playing almost a year, ask me what you want.
  10. A Comprehensive Guide to Worship of Nar'Sie Worshipping Nar'Sie can be a difficult thing! The average aspiring cultist relies on their brothers and sisters of the hood for their spells and activities. This, while good for teamwork, is a very bad thing to do! Collectively researching spells, as opposed to selecting one person to research and the rest to prepare, is a far greater solution. So, to begin, let's learn Spell Research. Spell Research The cultists who awaken, rather than being initiated, will always remember one of the ancient, powerful words of Nar'Sie. The following is perhaps the most important thing to do with a communication talisman: Reveal the word you remember, as well as its meaning, to your brothers. Without this, research may be slow or simply never done, and a cult without their dark arts is hardly a cult at all. Something to remember, all words of the dark, ancient language can be discovered given only two words. Once you have confirmed at least two words of power, you must select a spell from your tome that requires two words you know, and one you do not. Once you have, sacrifice will be needed, and not the spell; You must change your perspective and notes, filling each unknown word with the meaning you are searching for, and testing it by drawing the rune. This may require you to injure yourself repeatedly, but the realm of the physical is unimportant to the knowledgeable initiates of Nar'Sie anyway. Keep doing this until you have fulfilled all knowledge your tome has to offer! Note, however, that some spells require components, and may simply fail without them. Of particular note is convert, sacrifice, raise dead, and manifest, but still more may exist. So, if you plan on testing with these spells, ensure you are not disheartened by seemingly being incapable of finding a word; It may simply be a fault of the physical, not the ethereal, realm. Co-op Culting Knowing the ancient spells is one thing, but implementing them is another! Besides research, no cultist is better alone. It is called a brotherhood, after all. With teamwork, there is no being that can resist the guile and charm of Nar'Sie's faith. Perhaps they may need some coercion, such as a swift kick to the head to ensure they do not struggle, but I assure you, they will appreciate it when all's said and done! Most importantly, some spells require more than one robed rapscallion to accomplish! If you are at a lack for friends of the faith, it is never bad to turn to the otherworld for help! Manifest a few ghosts, and you will surely be ready to tackle any issue. The Blessed Constructions Are you a brother formed from pure spirit and stone? Excellent! You have been blessed with a physical body in the name of Nar'Sie! There are many kinds of you, and all of them can be exceedingly useful to your fellow felons. Know your powers, and be present where your brothers require, and you should have no problems with your new existence. Finally, Enjoy your service to Nar'Sie, it's not every day one is initiated into a horrifying death cult grand service to your god! And remember, ț̡͍̭̲h̶̻̦̹͙͉͇é͚͉̮̰̗̺ͅ ̫̘̠̭̼f̵̻͇ḽ̺̺͈̰oc̝͎̺̖̪̙͚k t̮̥͓̯ͅh̨͎͔̹̦̦at̖̱̻̺̮̘ ̻̯̪͖͖̪̀c̫o̪̼̥̯̥̦͕u̪̦̺͔̩̜͟l͢͏̗̹͎̫͍̜͝d̨͈̙̻̦ ̴̟͍̜̮̮́n̶͇̰͉͉̫̣̺̹̘o̕҉̝̬̥̭̦t̮̖̤̥̩̥ ͕̖̬̞͎͜͠w̵̨̭̜ọ̫r̶҉̬̜͉k̛̤͎̗͠ ̬̖̦̠̻̦͚͢ͅt̡͔̫͙͔̮̻̙̘o҉̢̮̟g̛̗̙̣̭̤̩̯è͕͇̬̺̲̗̘͡ͅt͈̥̯̟͖͎̞h̹͎̟̬̫̺͖͕͘͠ẹ̸̘̹̰͝͠ŗ̲͔̰̭̱͘ͅ ̴̖̖̘͟͠a͏̸̨̘̯̺̺͔̞͖̰r͕̹̹͎e s̵̳̠͊ͤͨ̓̾ͫû̺͖̩ͩ͒ͦͩ̀͟ṙ̂̈́́̈̅͏̳̩͈̬̹̳̮ͅẻ̱͎͖̖̤̓ĺ̳͚̹̀y͌҉̜͔̙̫̼͜ ̴̨̩̹̮̲̰̖̙͉̘ͥ̅͋̄ͩ̑ͧ̚s̸̙̣͈̖̀͊͐̂̑t͕̫̦̞ͭͦ̿̑ͯͭ̚͞i̢̦͎̲͔̰̖̖̤̾ͫ͛̓l̡̻̥̘̲͚ͦͭ̑̂̔̒̓̐̓̀͝lͨ̋̓͊ͭͤ͏̹̯͖̦̤̗̹ ̨̨͖͕̀t̵͎̝͍̼͓̳̠ͦ͗ͥ̾ͣ͐̂̚r̥͎̈́̐͊̓ͨ̏͑͗̒̕̕a̗͚̯̰̘͚ͯͫ͆ͅp̨͖̜͖͉̲͚̪̯̈͊ͥ͐̅̈̑ͤ̌͟p̦͉̮̝̹͎̰̦̝͒̿͆ͥ͂ḙ̸̱̰͙̾̂̎̂̀̇͝ͅd̖̱̩͈́̆̍͂̽̇ͧͮ̇͡͝ ̵͈͙̤̠̲̝̂ͩ̌̍ͮ̿ͩͦ̓͜i̴̤̗̰̰̪͕͈̚͘͞n͕̬͙̝̦͍̦̻͎ͬͫ͐̿̅ͨ̓ͦ́̚ ̘̠͇̯̣͙̰͍̎̉ͬ̀͞h̎ͣ̎́̕҉̱e̸̒͑ͮ̇͏̦̺̼̗̥͍̟ͅl̜̅ͩͫͅͅḽ͓̲̣̠̠͗̔ͦ̒́͝
  11. I very much agree with this, but it'd need specific wording; We don't need another law like "Vandalism" that security can arrest you for whenever they see you do anything to so much as a wall tile with a spray can, let alone a welder.
  12. An interesting, if likely hard to implement without extensive coding, solution would be to make LINDA calculations on groups of 2x2 tiles, which would "speed" LINDA calculations up, lessen lag, and improve some aspects of realism that people are complaining about, without completely removing the gameplay elements we know and love.
  13. Fair enough. [spoiler2]And this totally wasn't just to give Heather a break. What are you talking about?[/spoiler2]
  14. Crew monitoring computers could have a built in messenger system, streamlining the suit sensor reminders that many people give out. It could even have it's own PDA name, or just use your own. Either way, it should generally be non-reply.
  15. I have been eyeing up that Genetics2 folder in the git for a while now. An overhaul is long overdue. Maybe I'll give paracode another shot, though last time I couldn't work it for my life.
  16. Personally, I believe that grey telepathy should not have a delay behind it. Hell, I'd be fine if we reverted to line-of-sight telepathy if we implemented that; I use telepathy exclusively.
  17. Greys should be omnivorous, at least according to the lore.
  18. Death by hugging returns!
  19. Considering I relied on the old syndipistol lobotomy a few days ago, and only failed spectacularly, I'd enjoy this.
  20. Hey, I'm fine with any new clothing. Jobs deserve nice clothing, especially karma ones, which are mostly aesthetic anyway.
  21. I hate to keep bumping this post, but just another update, I believe I've finished the attack command code. I'll compile it when I get home, and see how it works. Considering my last try for this borked all commands, this'll hopefully be a step up. Also, feel free to say if I should just let this topic die.
  22. On the subject of constructing and deconstructing, most electronics should have wires. Having the ability to make a remote controlled telepad would be godly.
  23. Okay, turns out slime speech recognition is difficult to pull off, I might be some time before figuring out some of this.
  24. With the changes to saycode, you can no longer modify the source of comm messages, which means no changing people's names. I'll look into fixing this, but for now, you'll have to find another way of expressing people's jobs.
