I have broken samples just by clicking on them too many times. I have broken samples by accidentally clicking the sample with my active hand while holding the sample. I have broken samples by accidentally clicking on the wrong thing (papers from the disease analyzer, as said by Keaton) Prior to the fridge, I have broken samples placing them in the freezer. I have broken samples with other samples. It happens, ALL THE TIME. How long ago did you play in medical? This has been an ongoing thing for well over a year, this is not something new, this is not to even mention that it just makes plain sense for the virologist to be in their biosuit - and there is literally no mechanical advantage for them not to do so if we want to go down that route.

I sincerely hope you're kidding. I've shattered like 40 of those plates by now via misclicks, you can even break them by accidentally clicking adjacent equipment that doesn't accept the virus plates. It happens all the damn time. I sincerely suggest you go spend some serious time in medical, you'll hear a virologist complaining that they accidentally broke a virus dish at least three times a week.

I'm with Fox on the defib thing with medical doctors. I'm against removing the biosuit requirement however - you can easily break samples and it makes no sense to be working open air without a proper suit in a virology department. As for the mask, it just makes sense mechanical advantage or no. Med RP and all.

You answered your own question. Because a RIPLEY is super, super slow. You do not require a grenade casing for smoke. Mixing from beakers is faster, and more convenient - as you can tell what the smoke compound is based off the colour of the beaker, rather than trying to remember which grenade is which. It's also instantaneous, whereas a grenade is not.

I have seen plenty of non-lethal mechs used exclusively to evade security and cause major issues. You seriously underestimate how powerful grav catapults and RCD's can be. If you want a utility mech, use a RIPLEY/FIREFIGHTER, not a combat mech frame. @ #2. SoP is only a guideline, and goes pretty much out the window there's a severe emergency. There are also far better methods to distribute chems than grenades, such as smoke mixes (which don't need nades, and don't jump everyone's blood pressure, and are easy to verify), and sprays. I have only seen "beneficial grenades" used all of once in the year or so I've been here, and it was in escape on a bunch of already uninjured people. The realistic application for "beneficial grenades" is very, very small.

PDA messages are literally typed messages. If my character is piss-ass drunk, I deliberately typo the ever loving hell out of my PDA messages for instance. I fail to see how netspeak occuring on the SS13 equivalent on an instant messenger is annoying, unless you find netspeak annoying fullstop. If anything, someone who uses netspeak on a PDA message but speaks coherently without it in regular chat is a sign of someone who's got a better handle on roleplaying.

Doesn't really add much of anything, even if it's mimicking the occurrence of IRL netspeak. I'd argue if anything it detracts from roleplay, despite being part of a very specific group's "speech". (99% of people don't use Netspeak IRL, it's almost exclusive to NURDS like us)

That's great, and it shouldn't. Lore should be something that you can build a character up off of, making references to their history and fleshing it out, not something that has a stranglehold on your character and defines them within a narrow range of possibility.

Part of the appeal of the present card system and having a dealer is interacting with another person. The appeal of video slots would be less on interaction, and more on winning money (which is unfortunately meaningless presently. :c)
