Aliens-Style Self Destruct Procedure
SigholtStarsong replied to SigholtStarsong's topic in Suggestions
Not particularly - Most rounds I've seen where the nuclear weapon has become needed and the codes were granted, the crew moves the nuclear device to a safe location and then defends it as a stationary object (As the Securing Bolts make it one.) I don't see how this would play any differently, except maybe giving an antag half a chance so someone doesn't yakkity sax the nuke everywhere. Frankly, it breaks my immersion that we'd be using a uranium-gun fission weapon (Which are built without wifi for a very good reason) this far into the future where we have Bluespace Artillery. Even Star Trek had the self-destruct packages built into the ships proper - the warp core overloads and fusion generator overloads were just icing on the cake. -

Aliens-Style Self Destruct Procedure
SigholtStarsong replied to SigholtStarsong's topic in Suggestions
It is the nuclear destruct being overridden and hacked. That's what Code Delta actually is. -
As it stands, I personally feel like the Nuclear Fusion Device that we have on the station - the mobile, unwired one - makes very little sense as to how it's armed in a Malf round. It's clearly a standard Fat Man style nuke attached to wheels with a disk drive. As a replacement, I propose an Aliens-style Self Destruct system. The nuke disk would be replaced by the four arming bolts, and would require 5-10 seconds each for an installation. The nuclear code provided by Central would be the final override code separate from the physical safeties - and something the AI could hack since it'd be wired into the station, bypassing the physical interlocks and code. Nuclear Operatives could steal a single bolt and arm their nuke with it. And failing that, they could arm and defend the Station's self-destruct system, perhaps allowing them to buy "Bolt Grease" for 1TC for instant bolt activation. Twinmold has voulenteered to code it and it'd be easy enough to sprite.

This sounds like an average Mentor day. Good on you for showing your friend the power of punching people in the face and introducing him to the station.

Reduce the spawnrate of Broods from Hivelords.
SigholtStarsong replied to SigholtStarsong's topic in Suggestions
Also, they took two critical gibtonites to the face. They either need to be removed until their immortality is fixed or a massive rework is done, IMHO. -
Currently, Hivelords spawn so many broods that two miners can be totally and easily surrounded and pretty much never have a chance to actually engage the Hivelord - pinning you down indefinitely. The spawnrate of Broods needs to be reduced drastically or other changes need to be made to justify the balance. Combat log from an actual game contained below.

One such humanoid was caught directly in the light and reportedly incinerated instantly. 03:35:27—03:54:09 Omitted 03:54:10 FDV Iscariot engineers report a minor anomaly in the Bluespace drive. Cultist comms suddenly spike. 03:55:46 Direct transmission from Iscariot to T. Baxter, handled by Cpl. Edelman. Edelman: Doctor Baxter, this is the FDV Iscariot. Baxter: I hear you, Iscariot. Edelman: Doctor, we've encountered hostiles matching the Shadowlings mentioned in your papers. We're having some trouble engaging them, however. Baxter: What stage are the Umbra at? Edelman: Wait one. [29 seconds of silence omitted] Edelman: Stage two? Baxter: I see. Do you have a rough estimate of the number thralls? Edelman: Approximately 250 combatants. [1 second of silence omitted] Baxter: I'm sorry, how many? Edelman: Two Five Zero. Shadowling page is up and running, including removal of old abilities and addition of new ones.

The detail put into the descriptions of humans is hilarious, but I'm pretty sure every species in SS13 would know what an arm is. I mean, every species in game has pretty much the same anthropomorphic structure. Read his userpage, not the actual human page.

I feel like the SolGov Infantry is extraneous and redundant, but otherwise I like the direction you've taken is overall good.
-
SolGov is /already/ the canonical name - just FYI. I suggest we pull the organization of the Mobile Infantry from Starship Troopers for the Federal (SolGov) forces - For example, SolGov Marine Corps and SolGov Navy. Army, Marines, and Self-defense forces (JSDF, United States National Guard, ect.) are covered by the Marine Corps, and the Navy covers the Navy (duh) and the Air Force. I also might have a slight bias because my personal fluff item specifically mentions the SolGov Marine Corps.

This is a bad idea IMHO. Command is dangerously slow a number of times - not to mention you're Nanotrasen's man on the ground when it comes down to it - your faxes can already make the difference between an AMBER team being sent to fight a massive xenomorph infestation or getting a properly armed RED or GAMMA team. Additionally, Nanotrasen Representatives are one fo the few people with a direct line to Central Command and the ability to get Gamma (Or even the dreaded EPSILON) based on your reports. Personally, I think this would make calling an ERT super trivial when it should be a fairly big event - ERTs already get called for very trivial things that the Station can deal with on its' own fairly well.

I've played a few Nations rounds now, and I come up against the same problem over and over again - Flashspam until the borg is disabled, beat to death. Or flashbang, shoot to death now that the borg's shield is down. The personal shield (I thought) was supposed to prevent that when active - allowing a borg a snowball's chance to actually fulfill it's laws. I propose we buff the shield to stop all instant disabling.

I didn't believe you when I said the Nanotrasen logo was featured - I went to their website, and, clear as day... http://www.ionthegame.com/team

Not a wolf, can't confirm. Also, let's keep the ERP down to a minimum this time, as it's organics we're talking about and IT WILL make people go 'ew'. This link may be useful if you want us Vulps to have a pack structure: http://www.wolfcountry.net/information/WolfPack.html Also, given that Vulps have copious amounts of fur (usually), it would suggest a colder climate for habitation.

I use one, personally, that is directly drawn from actual arrest warrants. And for taking witness statements, I use:

Rules on contraband, validhunting/vigilantism & enemy of NT
SigholtStarsong replied to alexpkeaton's topic in Suggestions
And the Captain, who had actually issued a Kill On Sight order. All of whom were actively interfering in the handling of someone who was kill / detain on sight. As far as I know, all players are administrated upon equally when it comes down to it - being a regular doesn't exempt you from certain standards of behavior. No, they're not. Guardians (Such as the Scarab) are, yes, found randomly in mining. However, Holoparasites are strictly Syndicate tech - As evidenced by the following passage from the Wiki. This statement alone pretty much says "Oh, you saw a guy in a red hardsuit with an ominous beacon? Can you prove he's going to kill anyone?" and if they can,THEN Security can actually do something. This specifically goes against Possession of a Restricted Weapon (303) or Possession of Explosives (304). If you walk onto the station with Gibtonite, which is a restricted explosive, they can't do anything against you because it's contraband without witnessed hostility or other evidence. You also open up the door for Miners/Gateway Explorers/Space Explorers who are antags to basically roam around armed to the teeth and there's nothing Sec can do about it. The quote below has text that has been bolded for emphasis. While normally inadvisable to involve yourself in a police/Security situation, there is the matter of Citizen's Arrest, such as in California here in the US: Basically, regular persons are able to arrest a wanted fugitive if they have reasonable cause to do so. But since the server is in Sweden, let's take a look at what Swedish law has to say on the matter: There are situations where going non-lethal isn't an option - For example, Nuclear Operatives, Vox Raiders, Hungry Hungry Wiznerd, or (emerged) Shadowlings - because those antags are as likely to kill you as soon as look at you. I apologize if I have misinterpreted any of your points or have insinuated anything other than the deepest respect and eagerly await your reply. -
It seems to me that the NT Rep should have a door button, a la the Captain's Office. It would make it better for bringing people into your office without having to install a signaler assembly to disable ID scanner/toggle open, and is a very, very simple map edit.

So... re-add the horrible, godawful CTF mechanics.
