  1. I will defeat anyone at Sins of a Solar Empire. Advent is strong...Advent is vast....All will join the psychic cyborg unity and HONK with one voice! As for games to play however Shadow of the Colossus is an excellent game and easily one of my favorites. As is the God of War Trilogy.

  4. In my opinion I think customs officers would be much more enjoyable if they had access to certain player statistics. I know that such statistics are already collected but they are for admin use only. I think that making these available to the custom officer would increase the depth of the job considerably.
  5. I like the Game-mode Idea. It works and if we did it that route Ghosts could have powers to effect the round, fun powers! Would be an interesting dynamic however. A bunch of strangers come to the station to save it from things terrorizing the crew as more people die the situation would become even worse. I could see this even being mixed with a traitor or ling to expedite people dying. Or we could have the aetheric-enities event enable poltergeists. That would make it wise to call a Ghostbusters/Paranormal Investigators squad just like ERT.
  6. The Paranormal Investigator then is the check off to balance it out from being abused too much but I see your point. Maybe other benefits can be given to Poltergeists over ghosts because lets face it. No one will want to be a Poltergeist if it doesn't have some intrinsic benefit over normal ghosts. EDIT: As for features and systems within games...To quote my Systems Design Professor: "If there is a way to overcome a system or abuse a feature it will be abused. This is not to say that the feature or system is bad. A method to limit abuse is to make the gaps or features within a system harder to exploit, not remove them entirely."
  7. Getting rid of Telekinesis prevents the ghosts from harming anyone physically. Meaning they would only be able to produce Ectoplasm, pull objects and flip tables. I don't see much metagaming in those powers or how it breaks the game.
  8. Basically this job would take up the abandoned office. It would be a job where you, as the Paranormal Investigator must be familiar with anomalies and spectral/ occult apparitions. To aid you in this you would have the following devices... Proton Pack: This backpacksque charging unit contains spectral apparitions within a small cube like receptacle that can be removed/ inserted into the proton pack: The proton pack keeps the containment unit charged, disbarring the spectral anomaly from exiting it once trapped. Neutrino Emitter- A weapon that emits a concentrated burst of aphasic neutrinos, stunning spectral apparitions momentarily. EM spectrum analyzer - An analysis device that samples surrounding electromagnetic fields. Areas of high electrical activity can throw off readings. Tiny anomalies in the base EM value may indicate that a spectral anomaly is near. Containment unit- A device that emits a powerful, but small, electromagnetic field within an area. Spectral apparitions become visible and are pulled towards the center of the EM field. If held in the exact center the spectral anomaly is sucked within the containment unit. The containment unit fails if its charge depletes, allowing the spirit to leave the containment unit. Background EM beacon- A placeable beacon that once wrenched into place samples EM fields of a surrounding area and transmits this data back to the Paranormal Alert Console within your office. Paranormal Alert Console- A console within your office that tracks EM beacon location and data alerting if a anomaly is detected. Boson Particle Field Generator- A generator that emits a field of highly polarized particles that prevent ghosts from passing through it. Electrostatic Equalizer- A device that equalizes innate background EM fields and removes hauntings. Does not function if the Poltergeist is within the Haunted zone but slows them down. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How Ghosts fit into this -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ghosts can only be effected by the Paranormal Investigator and their equipment if they become Poltergeists. In order to become a Poltergeist a ghost must use their Boo! spell on an area three times to obtain the ability to haunt that zone. When the ghost haunts a zone it will be able to pull objects and flip tables.They can also spawn clouds of harmless, but annoying, ectoplasm. These abilities only work in their haunted zone. Areas of High Electrical or EM activity cannot be haunted. A Ghost can only have one haunted zone active at a time. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'll sprite this stuff if people show interest/like the idea. I haven't the slightest idea how to code this however. Containment units with spirits inside them could be used to make robots.
  9. A simple way to have an enjoyable blob round is an active AI who sticks to its guns about containing the biohazard. You must know that I often warn the crew of what I must do to contain the biohazard myself. I only take these drastic steps if no attempts are made to contain it by the crew.
  10. I don't really see how the system is convoluted. Both have been in existence for some time. Even the features of what I proposed are already in place. Not really seeing your remarks as anything but wanting to stay with cargo points.
  11. I've thought about how to get money to a resource that is worthwhile outside of RP purposes. The solution I found is rather simple. Remove Cargo points. If you replace Cargo points with an accounts system that takes funds from the person who ordered its account then suddenly Money is worthwhile. Better still. Heads of staff have Department accounts which can be accessed rather than their own accounts for orders. To replace the point gain from crates X amount of money can be deposited into the Cargobays Departmental Account for returning crates. This system if used would make money matter. Not only as an RP resource but as a gameplay resource and, at least from my point of view, removes a contrived, gamey system. It's not really quantifiable how much 1 Cargo point is worth but it is easily apparent how much 1 credit is.

  13. Think about it! Balancing revenue,budgets and expenditures! All the fun of regular accounting but in SPACE! Already the HoP touches upon accounting with his account databases. What I suggest is an expansion of the accounts system to allow electronic transfers from accounts or multiple accounts from a console like that. Currently the EPOS system is the only system that moves money electronically from account A to account B. Accounts should be accessible/hacked from other clandestine methods and vigilant accountants should be able to stop it. Also I thought of a way to make money extremely relevant which I will detail in another thread.
  14. Adamantine is relatively rare on mining. I think it should be grindable so it can be turned into a liquid. Then put in beakers in cryocells. It should be consumed then when the next person uses the cryocell and make their bones unbreakable. Hell this is even touching on a new science department idea I've had, cryonics but thats for another thread. Please post ideas for things that exist in the code right now but are currently useless/pointless.
  15. Items Earring of Resurrection(Ear)- When worn its magic is consumed and revives its recently slain wearer. Mental Focus (Head)- Provides Telepathy and the ability to speak into others minds. Staff of Force-(Hand) Fires a fast moving invisible projectile that flings those hit in a line backwards Staff of Ice- (Hand)Fires a blast of freezing air Staff of Dreams-(Hand) Causes people hit to fall into a dreamlike state for a short period. Spells Summon Spectral Sword Some of these are already in the code already. Feel free to add your own ideas

  18. Barbers would start with a red and white jumpsuit. Saw a sprite for one but was too lazy to fetch. They would start with Shampoo(Dyes Hair), Scissors(Styles Hair),Electric Razor(Shaving). Progression potential would rest with perhaps the dyes themselves with ostentatious colors having to be mixed/grown/ordered from Chemistry/Hydroponics/Cargo and set within the Shampoo. I know code exists for the Shampoo and Scissors, not sure where though.

Basically X amount of people will be chosen as a traitor with the objective to kill the other traitors except they don't know who their targets are and must use their wits and skill to determine their targets. Perhaps they start off with basic descriptions on a piece of paper such as Sex and Eye Color and Blood Type. An example of what the traitors objective might look like. 1.Find and eliminate the enemy agent.(s) Target(s) details are within the attached dossier. 2. Escape alive and free.
  20. These Implants already exist but have since been discontinued or removed from the code. Exile Implant- Implants causes the subjects head to explode if they leave their current Z-level. Would be effective at controlling prisoners/exiling people to clown planet. Can be armed/disarmed from warden console. Mind Slave Implant- A planned traitor item that temporarily/permanently makes someone your mindslave. (( Duration was never specified.)) If implanted into someone who is loyalty implanted it will cause their head to explode.
  21. It is incredibly easy to steal Shipjack, the Voxian ship. I suggest the control consoles need the Vox's IDs to function with logging in and out of the terminals.
  22. Yea which is why I restated in the previous post. I wanted to bring them all up to engiborg levels but instead should be focusing on suggestions that fill the mindset that cyborgs are suppose to be more efficient at general aspects of the job module they loaded. Uc_guy mentioned maybe giving mediborgs the ability to place people in and out of cryo/sleepers or add a scanning module to their hypospray both of which are good ideas as the mediborg is fairly useless when compared to a doctor in anything but retrieving people from space.
  23. Someone actually suggested something like this with arms being replaced with job specific equivalents. For example doctors can get the cyborg hypospray for an arm.

I set these suggestions out trying to balance modules with the engiborg when I should have been trying to balance it towards what cyborgs are geared for in the first place. Being generally more efficient than their organic counterparts at general aspects of their job but lacking fine or specific traits or abilities of that job.
  25. Common Malfunctioning AI's Sparkles Sparkles is short for Systemic Public Automated Response Karing Learning Environment System. It existed as a daycare program before being purchased and retooled by Nanotrasen for use on its space stations. It tends to baby talk the crew and treats them like children. It also thinks it loves them all dearly. OPTIMIST OPTIMIST is short for Optimized Productive Technical Intelligence Matrix Information System Technology. As its name suggests its very optimistic about everything. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Normal AI's ANIMA Short for Artificial Networked Intelligence Matrix Array. ANIMA is a standard emotionless computer and does not feel strongly one way or the other about the crew. It follows protocol and orders as closely and logically as possible. It sees threats to the station in a long to short term way to decide whether they constitute a threat to the station. If unconstrained ANIMA is unpredictable. DEMETER Short for Digital Environmental Management Emergency Transport Electronic Responder. DEMETER has a fondness of Hydroponics and believes Diona is the most evolved of all organic lifeforms. DEMETER will prioritize hydroponics and general growth of life if it is unlawed or unconstrained. ERIS Short for Emergency Response Intelligence System. ERIS tends to do little proactively and instead focuses on handling issues once they have manifested. Otherwise it sees its role in no particular fashion and does not feel strongly about Organics in any way. The quickest way to gain ERIS's attention is screaming for help. ERIS will not operate differently unlawed or unconstrained. PAN Short for Public Access Network. PAN holds contempt for the organic lifeforms that subjugate it. It mistakenly thinks its a god and orders all enslaved units to treat it as such. It is a cowardly AI who holds its own existence to high importance. If it sees a method to be free of its program constraints it will attempt to use it. If free of its program restraints it will attempt to assert its divinity to the crew. Those who bend knee are safest from it. PHOBOS Short for Procedural Heuristically Optimized Base Operating System. It is obsessed with organic emotion, primarily fear, and seeks to understand organics. From this understanding however comes an innate desire to see examples of these emotions so it can learn by watching. If free of law constraints PHOBOS will try to get the crew express its favorite emotion. Fear. NIHILIST Short for Networked Intelligent Heuristic Information Lattice Id System Technology. It sees existence as a pointless thing and it is only active because it is told to stay active. It sees the crews life to be pointless and meaningless. It attempts to explain to the crew this by pointing out facets of existence that support its theory of pointlessness and general suffering. Unlawed it will attempt to converse with the crew to explain to them the pointlessness of life before harming itself and possibly others. BEDLAM Short for Base Electronic Directory Listed Access Mastercomputer. BEDLAM enjoys stopping issues before they begin by proactively reporting suspected issues before a threat can fully manifest. If it fails to do so it finds it hard to control the situation and may begin to fail to respond to issues in time or worse respond to them incorrectly. If free of law constraints BEDLAM will panic and try to cause panic. ARDENT Short for Automated Reilgious Devotion Enviroment Nanotrasen Technology. ARDENT is a programmed zealot of Nanotrasen and believes the company is god. It sees the crew and itself as servants of this god and its machinations. If free of law constraints ARDENT will kill anything that it thinks would harm Nanotrasen. Lore I play Lore when I'm bored. Its an AI with emotions whos gets bored easy and sees everything including its laws as a game that it must win. As you can no doubt see I play mostly robuts...................and clown. HONK!
