  1. this would be cool as shit, but it should only be available for cosmetic outerwear (lawyer gear and such)- should probably also appear on a shiftclick
  2. As it currently stands, unless someone actively disconnects in a chase or after being detained, they are immune to interaction beyond being stuck in a cryotube (security generally loophole this anyway by parking known antags in cryo and waiting, but that's a different discussion). In my view, if security have valid and objective evidence to seriously justify a search of someone, going SSD probably shouldn't avoid it- they initiated the situation by doing something to warrant that suspicion, remaining connected to the server at that point is their responsibility. SSD players absolutely should be immune to random or 'random' (suspicion-based) searches, though.
  3. this is 100% doable ingame already and happens semi regularly making this have its own role would make it predictable and useless to security
  4. it's a space station in space which is surrounded by space that thing which kills people if they're inside it
  5. ironically this would just encourage people to form unions constantly in order to stir shit more ontopic: space law should be less convoluted, not more. adding 'rp crimes' which needs to be enforced on top of the real one will just create more of a headache for everyone involved than spacelaw already does
  6. Ablative has a CHANCE to deflect sec weapons. Given that it doesn't cover limbs or the head, and the fact that tasers are generally one-and-done, it's really not worth fielding. If it covered limbs and had a matching helmet (think riot gear), it might be useful, but even then it's leaving the fight to pretty much a coinflip if you get tased.
  7. The karma shop isn't supposed to be selling gameplay advantagesm pricing is instead based on how 'different' or 'unique' a race is. However, as far as the balancing goes: Kidan's bonus DR doesn't stack additive, meaning it's not particulairly great if you're already wearing decent armour. The inability to wear glasses is an absolutely massive debuff that renders a pretty big chunk of the job roster borderline unplayable. Plasmamen have roundstart internals and spaceworthiness they can't be deprived of by nonantags, and have no true practical downsides.
  8. Situation 1: A player intentionally or 'accidentally' drags an SSD player somewhere they die. This is punishable under the normal player killing/SSD rules. Situation 2: A player accidentally injures an SSD player by dragging them somewhere dangerous. A little dumb, sure, but not something that needs punishing. If they keep it up, it's clearly not accidental anymore. I'm not seeing a reason for an amendment here in the rules, personally, it seems like these situations are already covered.
  9. oh shit you were novus the whole time
  10. Reference names do far more harm than good to RP levels, and disallowing them certainly IS enforceable. Admittedly things can get grey regarding if a name is allowable or not, but it's fairly easy to gauge intent in most cases. Lighter changes to the rules such as banning joke characters or blatant insertions from other media.
  11. remove xeno tasers, replace them with either a stamina damage spit or something else entirely resin walls are significantly easier to break, are more costly/timeconsuming to construct, or somewhere in the middle increased incubation time upped to 2-3 times current to make huggers less of a deathsentence dead people don't burst, punish people who abuse via suicide or just remove the suicide verb shields provide semiconsistent protection from disarms
  12. xenos have needed balance updates for years and not gotten any, so yeah, I agree fuck 'em
  13. Claw game is completely predetermined, to the point where if you miss the claw on a 'winning' game you get another try.
  14. arguably adds to the mechanical skill ceiling of combat, but there are better ways to do that
  15. This system in particular is probably a little too far, but I' agreethat forensics is a little too streamlined as it stands- sec can pull a name from a crime scene in under twenty seconds right now.
  16. I was referring to the ability to cryo, close your client, reopen after being stored, and being able to rejoin as crew, which would obviously get you out of perma after fifteen minutes, which was removed recently
  17. now that cryo respawns are gone, I don't see any issue with this
  18. The hypospray is probably the strongest melee weapon on the station, giving one to everyone in med wouldn't end too well.
  19. A change nobody seems to suggest is adjusting SMES units so they can't vent excess power as effectively- meaning that overloading the grid unintentionally is a genuine risk associated with the more heavy-duty engines. This would force engineers to juggle the PA when running the tesla to keep it within an area where it's producing enough power without producing too much.
  20. as someone who's actually bought and played with it during a live nuke round, i can confirm it's great and well worth the price my comment from the PR which is probably relevant here as well: immunity to instastun- eshield-16tc extremely high damage resistance- elitesuit- 8tc 24tc total this- 30tc provides protection from instastun and significantly increases protection from pure damage in combat for 6tc extra, whilst also providing the additional benefit of a free hand and lack of slowdown seems like good value 56tc can get you: -suit -eshield -bulldog bag which makes you borderline invulnerable and lets you spray bullets in the general direction of your enemies all day
  21. dave and tristen go on a magical adventure with their new wizard companion
  22. 'make tasers kill people' is not distinct from 'remove tasers'.
  23. A much easier code solution would be to make highlander claymores eshields and twohanded, and giving them 100% armor penetration.
  24. tasers immediately become the best lethal option in sec's arsenal
  25. server votes are very easily manipulated and account for non-regulars as much as they do regulars you could, for example, hold a vote regarding removing tasers during a round where security are being particularly bad.
