impossible for Tristen :3 can't handle the justice

updated to be slightly less terrible

why should the RD be held to a different standard? If the CE went to the engineering outpost at the start of the round without setting up the engine and began working on a construction project, they'd get demoted If the HoS went around maint the whole round solo hunting antags without saying a word, they'd get jobbanned If the CMO spent the whole round making a custom virus, they'd probably end up demoted (depending on how competent the rest of the department is).
-
RD should be paying enough attention to the protolathe to stop people having time to print of masses of weapons, yes. All the other heads are expected to micromanage their departments- keeping an eye on the protolathe and monitoring materials usage is still far, far less responsibility than any other head. The RD's one job is to keep science in check- something they fail to do to the point of needing lockboxes to do their job for them. Yes- this is less 'fun' than it is to be a scientist. The fact that the RD regularly explores the gateway or personally works on a large science project attests to the fact the job is currently played far, far differently than every other member of command staff.
-
RD isn't supposed to be a scientist with teleporter and bridge access- if someone's printing out guns, the RD should put two and two together, take the gun off them, and call sec- keeping a rough count of the materials the protolathe has and who's using it when isn't exactly difficult. CE, HoS, CMO, and the QM all have to babysit their departments- RD has lockboxes doing that (unsucessfully, most of the time) instead. as it stands, lockboxes should either stop science printing off anything dangerous, or get removed entirely in favor of making RDs responsible for what science does and handing out jobbans for greytiding and shittery whilst playing it
-
lockboxes wouldn't need to be a thing if RD players were competent
-
I'm 90% sure lockboxes are tamper-proof short of an emag

HoS can't print anything with their default access Captain is the one person on the station who can print and unlock weapons without ID changes or a second person.

you don't need to hide a mech you're inside a fucking mech with LMGS and a missile rack

slimes have nobreath and as such don't actually suffer any repercussions from bloodloss until they have pretty much no blood left

Reliable sources got axed because there was no way to use the information. More on-topic: I really don't see how it's validhunting to make the connection between having antag items and being an antag. They fucked up, they got caught and prosecuted. Intentionally giving traitors a smokescreen of plausible deniability that can't be broken will make it next-to-impossible to actually nail a 404 charge on any traitor who makes a remote effort to hide their tracks when commiting crimes. Antags have it pretty rough on para, but intentionally crippling sec's ability to do their job won't fix it.

I like the idea, but I think that 'x% chance to fuck you over' isn't the best implementation. Something more along the lines of chameleon suits and stamps only having half the selection picked randomly, forcing improvisation (stamp's already 1tc- just an example).

Protecting the 'station' generally includes the crew and the ability for the crew to function, given the station as a whole is intended to be manned and function. It's entirely up to the AI, as with most lawsets. If someone wants to be a dick as an AI, you need a completely watertight lawset to stop them, which none of the current lawsets do anyway. THAT SAID, I still think that a lot of the current lawsets should be removed as a default choice. I'd argue corporate as the default lawset every round, but that also has a fair share of flaws. Being completely honest- I'm not sure this is actually a huge issue. Generally, things are fine as they are.

Updated with: -Added to human biology section slightly (info about life expectancy, other minor adjustments) -Info about some human territorries (Earth, Mars, Luna). I'm planning on expanding the sections on Mars and Luna, but Earth's one is pretty much done pending any additional details people think should be there. These are the only three territories I'll go into great detail with- I'll note others in the final draft though -Wrote section about human culture- this one's sure to be controversial, so feel free to post if you disagree. -Minor updates to society and culture section (adjusted number of chairmen as per Arthur_Dayne's point regarding stalemates, mentioned smaller human groups) -Began writing about human military forces; I was planning to write something a little more non-standard for this, with an unaffiliated force in the form of the HDF. I pulled it straight out of my ass, so feel free to tell me if it's stupid. This is all still very WIP, mostly just enough for you to see the angle I'm going for with writing this section so you can weigh in on it before I start.. Expect updates of around this calibre every day or two; I've not responded to every piece of feedback posted, but I'm taking it on board and making sure to integrate it into the page- make sure you keep it coming.

they're mentioned, don't worry about to upload the next version, still far from finished

With regards to the NT leaving SolGov thing, I'd imagine NT would still want to dodge what regulations there still were- I'll expand upon this more, and write SolGov to give less of an 'Anything Goes' vibe in the lore. Assuming this page gets finished up and pushed to the wiki, I'll also write a page on Sol Central and expand the 'Human Governments' page. That's part of the plan, I've not gotten around to writing it yet. Block1 has 'claimed' the Earth lore page so I'm reluctant to write too much about it in case we contradict each other.

I've taken longer to make this thread than I should have- I didn't get around to working on this as soon as I intended to. Simply put, the current human lore is bad. Very bad. http://nanotrasen.se/wiki/index.php/Humans The page is a rewrite of the Skrell page, with a mixture of pointless biological information and jabs at humans, in a few passages still just being the skrell page. I'm currently working on a rewrite: http://nanotrasen.se/wiki/index.php/User:Coldflame It's not done yet, but I feel it's certainly a marked improvement. My take on the lore is that humans are the biggest players in the galaxy (which makes more sense both from a lore and gameplay standpoint, given humans are in the majority in-game). I've writted the article referring to the main human government as 'Sol Central'. Elsewhere on the wiki, 'Milky Way Federation' also gets mentioned, but Sol Central seems to be used more on the wiki and ingame. I personally prefer Sol Central, but I've attached a relevant poll. MWF also implies humans own the galaxy, which may make sense or not depending on how you look at it. I'm going to keep working on this, and I'll let everyone know when I feel my draft's ready for evaluation to replace the current lore. Go ahead and post below- Feedback, criticism, changes or additions you think should be made, etc.

working on http://nanotrasen.se/wiki/index.php?title=Starter_Guide made a small-ish edit just now. EDIT: Alright, I've finished going through it. I've removed reference to bay, fixed errors in the guide, and expanded it slightly. I think it can be considered up-to-date and have WIP status removed, but I'm not sure if that's something that should be done by myself. EDIT 2: On a reread, I noticed the starter guide links to http://nanotrasen.se/wiki/index.php/A_Crash_Course_In_Roleplaying which reflects HRP rather than MRP. Put it on the list- I'll edit it as well at some point. For the time being, I've added a disclaimer.

don't get caught with antag items

It's a (admittedly very dark) grey area. It's based to cover both bases on it.
-
"X offers Y a handshake." "Y shook X's hand" "Y didn't want to shake X's hand" "X offers Y a high-five" "Y smack's X's palm. Radical!" "Y left X hanging."

Under STANDARD conditions (STANDARD operating procedure), science should be getting everything. If you've managed to mine an absolute shitton, then science won't care about you keeping a reasonable portion (keyword reasonable). Miners are already adequately rewarded for mining compared to other jobs through the point system, depriving other departments of the ability to do their job so you can dick around with 'your' minerals should warrant demotion.

A requirement to forgo paperwork and red tape in favor of speed during crisis situations should probably be noted somewhere. It begins to cross over into space law, but a lot of confusion could be dodged by making it perfectly clear that breaching crates is not okay. QM6&8, CT8, and SM4 are all pointless- SOP is a list of restrictions and guidelines, telling people the things they CAN do is redundant. Aside from that, I don't have many objections with this.

HoS is SUPPOSED to be the most armed/defended person aboard, and has the means to get insulated gloves already. It's really not a big deal either way, but I see a pretty big gap in logic to give the Blueshield, who isn't even sec, the most combat-ready pair of gloves on the station, whilst the HoS gets standard ones.

Supply is by far the most abusable of the remaining three, so it's probably best to do it first. Posting all three's fine by me, though.
