I wish there was a better way to advertise that I'm willing to draw peoples' SS13 characters, haha. Seriously though, if you want to, go for it. (and if you want to maybe commission me / donate some time, talk to me, too cuz im a little short on cash)

I mean it rhymes, so you're not doing it wrong.

You guys're talkin' 'bout those badmins like they own the coop - (that's 'cuz they do) but don't forget the smaller roosters too, We ain't got pretty feathers and we're rough around the edges but us motherfuckin' mentors'll teach you how to style some hedges. Questions? No problem, we've got time for that. No matter big or small, we kinda like our chitchat. The wiki's where we specialize, we'll cite it without fail, but lacking Shadeykin's hard work, we'd have all gone pretty pale. Some of us know Medbay, and others might know Sec, but we all know how the Engine works - it's loose? Who didn't check?! Greytide, however, is really not our thing, our names are light blue, but we don't have bling. What we can do is teach you the station's S-O-P, so that griefing dipshit is little more than a flea. i regret this

And here's IPAV. He's special cuz he has a bunny and a love heart cloud.

I drew an Eli Randolph! Just...just pretend his hands make sense, please. I struggled for a while to get them to look passable.

Malpractice bay 2.0 or WTF are you doing with my organs?
counterfeitguise replied to Fethas's topic in Guides
A lot of this seems fairly interesting - so far basic surgery appears to be unchanged aside from being told you can't do two/three/four/what the fuck are you doing operations at the same time anymore, which was a pet peeve of mine in the first place. The Xeno organs thing - ehhh, whatever. Chances are you won't require it, but it seems neat to have implemented either way. A further use for cybernetic pieces is a-okay with me. I have a question though - operations for things like Shadowling Thralls (you enter their head and use a hemostat to remove the tumor, if I recall right) will stay the same, right? Or will those be different now in accordance with this new system? -
Ah, man. Had I known it would have ended this way I wouldn't have done it, but such is RISSA's character, I guess... It doesn't have to be the end of Maxwell, though. You can write more about him and his adventures - he's still got plenty more where that came from, hopefully. If I start up a series about RISSA's shifts, that could help too. Besides, if you actually preferred the Unlikely Tajaran as he was, we could find ways around it.

Holy shit, Tully, this is tense. PM me what Carl looks like, I might draw him.

From a comparison of dog claws vs cat claws it KIND of makes a bit of sense - assuming Tajarans can't actually retract their claws (which would make sense considering the complexity of human hand structure and would also make them akin to cheetahs than any other feline), cat claws get stuck in EVERYTHING due to their more needle-like size and sharpness, and then they get painfully yanked out. They grow back, but terribly slowly. Meanwhile canines have fairly blunt claws in comparison to cats - obviously this differs in cases of neglect or puppies, but adult dogs generally have more blunt claws than cats due to the constant exposure to things like stone or brick. This means they won't really have that big of a problem with their claws getting painfully stuck in materials, so presumably they can comfortably wear gloves without snipping. TL;DR - animal nerd makes broad assumptions.
-
This. Also, do Vulps even have the same claw code? I've never actually tried melee-ing someone as Evelyn or Zandtist, but I've never needed to snip their gloves - they just go straight on.

It will never come off of the walls now.

Many many MANY thanks for this guide! I've been itching to get fax-writing with the few karma unlocked jobs that demand it, but I was never sure what's accepted and such. I'm a little bit less terrified to at least give it a whirl now. I have a little question though - on rounds where little is going on and the Trurl decides to send random crap to the Cyberiad (this one time I was HoP and they sent over experimental large Ians, Pollys, Runtimes, etc come to mind), is it appropriate or at least semi-amusing for the admins/CC to read faxes updating them on the less serious results of these events? Because a bunch of Vox took the gigantic Polly and started attempting to summon what my character referred to as The Mother Bird with ritualistic shrieking, and I sent a silly little fax about it because there wasn't anything urgent going on - afterwards I wasn't really sure if it was appreciated or not since sorting through stupid faxes can't be that fun.

The offer to fix up her internal damage was, at first, something she was tempted to say no to - but after a spark and another loss of response from her left arm, she grabbed Max's hand before freezing in her tracks. The voice in her system - the one that wasn't hers - was unnervingly quiet today. Even during the panic at the blackjack table, the other inhabitant of this shell was quiet. She had spent the shift wondering if it has finally stopped bothering her, but as she had gotten her hopes up, it spoke to her again. She spoke to her again. "Public garden." What? "The hidden room." One by one, her legs began to move, taking her on a course she had no control over. Fearing loss of command over everything she had, she squeezed Max's wrist hard and, now relieved that the unspoken truce between the two personalities had not been breached, she allowed her feet to walk without her. They stopped, Max still in tow, in the dark and unsettling maintenance shaft above the public botany machines. RISSA hummed softly, clicking and whirring as she struggled to find the entrance to the room - turning at the sound of heat slicing through metal to see Max using a welder to break down a wall. Relieved, the IPC climbed onto the surgical table and laid flat, looking around at the unused equipment that littered the hidden room. As the Tajaran beside her was tinkering with the wires in her left arm, she warmed up her vocal processor to ask what the point of building this room was if it was to be locked away - but was interrupted by a beam of some form suddenly scorching her master - friend - and a great fear rising through her systems. She barely heard the other voice hiss out for her companion to stay hidden behind some of the furniture, and the same one call over the radio that someone was using an X-Ray gun on the two of them - and by the time the voice had quietened down, they were sprinting like madmen through the tunnels out of hope that the reason why the firing had stopped was a lack of charge. The arrivals pods were in front of them now - they had no reason to run any more. RISSA took a moment to embrace the fluffy figure she had grown fond of, more out of relief that he was still alive than anything else, but a surge of panic had spread through the Tajaran and it took a second for the IPC to figure out why. The Paramedic was back. She was convinced he was a threat, having been accused of poisoning Max before, in Medbay - but he seemed concerned about somebody else, someone she now couldn't see due to the enemy in her way. A sudden buzzing and wooshing caused her to stagger and look down as her functions began to cease; a great gash in her uniform and her metal frame, revealing the wires within. A purple blade, pulsating with a menacing aura. The voice. "You grabbed a knife earlier." Yes. "Use it." She rustled through her pack as quickly as she could, but the blade deflected the one attack she mustered before being cut down; left sprawling on the floor as the airlock shut and she could only hear more buzzing and wooshing of that vile blade. "I failed him again." "No, you didn't." "It is my purpose to protect him, and I failed to do it." "You are your own person." "But now he's dying out there." "So are you. Does that not matter?" She sees the airlocks open and fears the worst, unable to process any further sound now. She feels her body being dragged along the floor, and is barely able to make out a figure in her sights - pointed ears, aa slim tail. A hand reaching out for her own. RISSA smiles inwardly, filled with relief and joy, but mostly hope. It has to be Max. He has to have survived. She thinks back to the question. Does it not matter that you're dying? No. No, it doesn't.

Reminding me of that ending made me cry, cuz I could easily write my own little addendum of what was going on in RISSA's head while she was down. Depends on if you want it cluttering your thread though. I can see why we'd be accused of metabuddying but nah, that was pure un-adulterated luck. I spent most of that shift picking up Chemistry because of Landyn's traitorous activities. I also spent most of that shift incredibly slow due to the blob and the fire attack, haha.

Britain, Yorkshire! Where our only claim to fames are being immensely proud of our terribly racist fucking county, our accents, and also Emmerdale. There's also yorkshire puddings and several popular sweets manufacturers that are based in Yorkshire, but that's like saying you have a toilet in your house in this day and age. My side of Yorkshire - the East - actually has nothing of worth in particular, aside from lots and lots of drug crime. Yay.

From someone who actually somewhat LIKES the FNaF series - it doesn't have a place in 2D Spessmen.

You can try your best to explain it, if you like. I'm always interested in how my scribblings make people feel!

Unfortunately the world doesn't really work like that. Sometimes people are intentionally rude to staff, no matter how nice said admins are towards them. I'm no psychologist, but the human mind's damned complex, and people are pretty sensitive to critique or scolding. Some players could make a simple mistake and then escalate the situation themselves by flinging shit because they either misinterpret the tone of someone's text, or they just don't like being told that they're wrong. Other times, someone will accept that they're doing it wrong, but continue to do it because they either don't bother to learn, or they know it's wrong - and especially in the case of the latter, do you really want people like that playing? It might make it "interesting", if you're into that, but it also might make it incredibly frustrating. It's a super situational thing, and having been bwoinked myself multiple times as a starting player, I can tell you that I have a lot of good faith in the staff that volunteer their time to this little station. I actually haven't heard of anybody losing interest, but...I mean, I don't pay that much attention, I guess. As far as I'm aware the population of the server is about the same as it was when I joined a year and a bit ago, if not higher. The one thing I actually kind of agree with is that fresh features are fun and are always a good way to spice things up - but it really isn't as easy as "go get 'em, tiger!". The coders and game admins are not paid for the things they do. They have lives, and they have needs. Any features they're trying to implement can take a long, long time, and even when they're done, people might be disappointed or just so opposed to change that it gets discarded or pushed even further back into the list of things to do. It's a matter of either waiting, or helping - and there are plenty of options for the latter! You do not want this rule to be changed. There are many, MANY competent antagonist players. It takes practice and a willing to learn to become one while following the rules. A lot of antag rounds are actually won by the antagonists, but the game either doesn't register it or they forgot a single goal - and winning isn't all you should be playing for. I treat the "play antag responsibly" rule the same way I treat "drink responsibly" warnings - if you don't, you ruin it for everyone (including yourself), and bad things can happen. A server full of antags who just decide to kill literally everybody they come across is not fun, nor does it increase the skill of those trying to fend for themselves - it makes it near-impossible for anyone to have a good time minus the few that got lucky enough to own a license to murderbone that round. And that's why the Admin Complaints forum exists. There have, actually, been warnings given out to staff because of their actions. Metagrudging is absolutely no fun, regardless of if it's an admin doing it or a player doing it, and both can be punished depending on the severity. This sort of thing goes under Admin or Player Complaints, and are actually dealt with. Snowflaking, on the other hand, is a bit more of a complex thing to explain the negatives of - most people seem to forget that 2D Spacemen is a Roleplaying game as well as an action game. Roleplaying means creating and playing as a character of your own creation, and this then goes into the laws of fictional writing which is an entirely different matter - but the gist of it is that you want to create an interesting character so people can be invested in your story. The same sort of science is applied to Roleplaying games - make an interesting character, and people will want to interact with them more. A snowflakey character is one created to be brilliant at everything and to be special in a way that shouldn't be possible in the fiction. They either have no flaws, or they have way too many to the point where it's a sympathy grab. A lot of the times in stories, snowflake characters also insist that other people are drawn to them and they must be liked at all costs, no matter what. That's not an interesting character, nor an interesting fictional story to read. In the end though, Snowflaking isn't that big of a deal - it mostly just earns you a few jabs and comments in LOOC or OOC, or getting laughed at in IC. Where it gets important is how you react to this sort of thing - and if you lash out because people are making fun of the character, you need to remember that you created them this way. Eh, I didn't sense any rudeness or hostility - feedback is welcome, I just hope you understand that feedback of feedback is a thing. TL;DR - I politely agree to disagree with the changes suggested.

I do not! It's just unfortunate that dead cats keep happening as a part of RISSA's stories! Technically I like drawing dead anything; its surprisingly hard to make something like that look convincing! I'm totally not a psychopath, I promise. Aaaah thank you! I'm actually pretty proud of it, which is rare for me. I'm SO happy it turned out the way I wanted! I am curious though, what part of it makes it especially creepy? I want to keep it in mind for the next time I attempt something like this.

Mason's pretty cool! A bit of a blunt guy and a handful for some of my timid characters, but he seems like a hard worker. Wonder if there's a squishier interior to that hard shell...
