Vox can't be cloned without a brain transplant if thats what you meant. And I think those are hardcoded to fail too.

Did anyone do anything with this? Can't get on the server to check but would be a nice feature.

The only major counter-points I've seen to sign language are as follows. 1) It completely undermines the Mime, being able to 'talk' with anyone else who knows the language. 2) What happens if you break or lose an arm/hand? Do you completely fail at signing or are there just massive gaps or letters blotted out. I will say that I have played on some servers that did have sign language, but they snowflaked the hell out of the code for it. Signing was effecitvely an encrypted emote that if you didn't take the language you just 'John Doe signs with their hands' or something to that extent, so it couldn't be used on the radio. But because it was an emote, it could be used in vacuums and was damn near essential for miners and engineers who wanted to talk but not over the radio. Never played the AI on that server so I don't know if the AI could 'read' the language through cameras or not.

Emagged drones don't respond to fabricator commands, it's one of the few give aways that a drone is emagged if you try to send a shutdown command to it via the fabricator and nothing happens. As the ability to create a limitless army of emagged drones? No thanks. Drones are extremely potent ally for a traitor, even a solo one, to give him a near infinite source of them from one emagg swipe would be insane, even if the drone(s) can't physically find the traitor, he can always pocket one and use it as a proto-pai and have it use drone speak to carry out his orders and demands. As stated above, ghosted players would probably join for the simple fact that they'd get an antag token and pretty free reign to tear apart the station like some half rate swarmers. If you want an army of tator drones, do it the old fashion way and emag one and have it summon others for conversion.

Vegan said he was working on this... a few months ago now. You'd have to ask him how far his port is coming along or if he wants to baton pass the code thus far to someone else if he can't finish it anytime soon due to other commitments.

Haven't done surgery recently, but if you did organ repair, you used to be able to use bone glue twice after retracting it shut. The first time would give you the standard sealing/closing message, the second time would start the healing/repair text that would allow you to use bone setter and another bone gel before sealing. Again, this may have been overhauled, haven't been tracking the github and Earth seems to be the only coder that cares about keeping an current changelog and understandably its next to impossible to for one person keep it 100% up to date.

Complaining about unrealistic airlocks when we have LINDA for atmos is about as far off target as you can get. When we had ZAS, I liked the airlocks, specially since a remote/devious use of one could launch people into space. Now there is basically no consequence for bolting both doors open the entire shift. I understand WHY the airlocks cycle and do what they do, but that doesn't mean I have to enjoy it or even consider it necessary.
-
Cycling that airlock is the biggest pain in the ass. I almost want tg's unbolted airlocks. Expanding it would be better.

I've never understood why DNA locks are completely infallible, honestly you'd think Robotics would be capable of clearing the memory of a suit. Then again, once a mech is destroyed you can't do any thing with the wreckage save for pull a few items out and have a nifty paperweight.
-
Worse yet being a Karma job with 80% of your job requiring it. DNA locks would ideal to me, keys are just another stupid thing to carry around. At least give the pod pilot a locator or something in his PDA so he can track his way abck to his pad if it gets lost/stolen.

+1, everyborg should have improved equipment from mining/science in addition to the generic cells and VTEC. Cleaning foam dispenser/launcher would be nifty too, but it'd obviously need a heavy battery cost/require recharge between uses.
-
It's a long shot for remote access and by no means necessary, but if possible go for it, but getting updates for when mining does their job would be a huge step up since most miners expect science to check the machine every 5 minutes and know exactly when they get goodies
-
+1 to this, its fairly useful. Ideally you'd be able to remotely view how much is in the machine, but just being alerted anytime another load has been added is nice.

Mobs without hands do so as a work around, because you need to click the chair with an open hand, which they can not. Humans and other species have hands and were denied it because of unstated reasons? Hence this suggestion.
-
Currently resisting will unbuckle if you are cuffed, starting the two minute struggle. I mean using Resist to easily slip out of a chair if you aren't otherwise restrained, such as when the shuttle docks.
-
/tg/code has this, I don't see why we don't. What does it do: Using resist while buckled (and not cuffed) will unbuckle you from the chair/bed/buckled item. Will it require coding: Approx one line. Don't know the exact line needed but something along the lines of Resist checking if the person is buckled and unbuckling them without the need for pixel hunting the chair sprite under your own.

Probably would make more sense to move Virology to Science department in full and swap the virology crate to RD access instead. They are pretty much a research job with a minor role in curing of pathogens that get released, though usually they cause it. MedSci is a very blurred line to begin with, lots of roles have cross over and I don't understand why the CMO and RD don't both get basic Medical and Science access.

Link for the curious, lazy and anyone who wants to proof read. Ingredients in general kind of irk, it's not totally uniform. OCD, I know, but things like a Sandwhich just list the ingredients "2 Bread Slices, 1 Meat Steak, 1 Cheese Wedge" where as a Toasted Sandwich says 'Microwave 1 Sandwich' even though both (can) be made in the microwave. use the adverb on all recipes, or not at all :I. /pointlessOCDrant.

Foreword: This is a fairly basic idea that is more of a call out to a Coder with some expierence with the NanoUI. It is a long term goal, not an immediate request. What is it?: Guide and Reference ILLustrated cookbook. A new ROM cartridge for the Chef to use in their PDA. Add's a cookbook recipe of items (easiest way to do this would be linking to the wiki page, a coder/developer with time on their hands could make a nanoUI menu with a list of all recipies divided according to cooking method.) Additionally, a food scanner function could be added to the PDA, that when scanned would list all the known recipes that particular item is in. Chef's would spawn/join the station with the ROM already located inside their PDA, with 2 (or more) spare ROM cards in the freezer storage with the alternate clothing, as well as the usual spare in the HoP office. Would this require coding?: Yes, lot's of it undoubtedly, and probably some snowflake code to give a small database worth of information to one job. Even the most basic scan function would need to have flags for all the different food items and a list for the recipes they are directly used in. As stated above, a more ambitious coder familiar with NanoUI could attempt to make a series of menus that would contain the whole of cooking in it. How would this benefit the playerbase?: Directly, it would only impact the Chef or those working in the Kitchen too cook. Provided the code was quick and able to give out the information fairly quickly without bogging down the server, a Chef would be able to quickly identify what recipies they can feasibly cook and prepare based on the items they have at hand. Indirectly, it would make Chef's doing their job somewhat more likely, allowing for a wider variety of food to be prepared when the cook is aware of his options. Last words: In short, this is a convince factor that, in my opinion is long over due. It would be an irreplaceable benefit to new players trying to learn the role, and would certainly help out more experienced Chefs who don't have the entire Wiki cookbook memorized, being able to quickly look up a recipe to see its ingredients or scan a particular ingredient you have in abudance to see what variety of food you can produce from it. Much like Gas Scanners or T-Rays, it's not something you'd need to do your job, but certainly something that would make it easier or at least quicker in getting the info you need to do said job.

I've actaully kind of wondered why we didn't ever get a Labor Camp/Permanent Oveseer. Turn perma/labor into the same thing, when someone is there it's that persons job to keep an eye on them. If no on is in perma, he can help around hte station or go mine a bit if he prefers. Another thread is already suggesting labor get its own z-level or at least be pushed off the main (two) asteroids.

Does Cryobrig spit people out into the cryodorm? I guess I'm confused but if it's something like that than yea that would have to be fixed. Not against a new brig lay out all, we have so much space and not much to do with it. I'd prefer something with the Warden's office in the center, the lobby/visitation in the southern area, the west end of the brig being the cells/courtyard, the east side of brig (with maint tunnels) being the equipment/officer ready area (with break room!), and the north end being being armory/HoS office and sec pilot hangar. Perma could either be an extension to the north of Brig area or just reconfigure the labor camp to off-site perma. Brig being an overhang or appendage hanging out into space could be cool too, with shutters incase of carp of course, but still leaving the possibility for people to EVA their way in if need be, as well as secuirty easily being able to N2O the area if there is a riot.

You realize the planets basically have to align in order for X-ray guns to even exsist? 1) A science nerd has to do RnD. Some people can do this in 20 minutes, some people can shove everything they can get their hands on into the destructive analyzer for 2 hours and not break level 5 in any category. Some people give up or throw a hissy fit if Robotics won't give them syringe guns or Security won't sacrfice shotguns and laser rifles, others still refuse to cooperate with any other scientist in the RnD lab and I've seen people actively sabotage it to get their way.\ 2) Miners need to do their job. Mining is 50% luck 50% skill at this point, some rounds 1 miner can get 20 sheets of everything +200 metal and glass without ever once getting better gear from RnD. Other rounds, 3+ Miners can get Ripleys sent to them fully specced for mining and barely scrape together more than a few dozen sheets of metal and the occasional silver or uranium ore in an entire round. Other rounds still a miner will get reckless or just plain unlucky, killed by wildlfie. Whether this being the fool who tries to kill a Goliath or Basilisk with a pick axe, or the poor sod who gets attacked by 3+ monsters at once and just doesn't have the room or gear to respond appropriately. And assuming they work dutiful through the blob alert and comms going nuts as they try to fight you, they still somehow have to get these resources to RnD, odds are pretty good they need to pass you or your blob spores along the way to get there. 3) The Captain, Head of Security, Warden or Head of Personnel need be smart enough to unlock the lockbox if they are built, 99% of the time they will refuse to go near RnD unless thats where the blob is, so it's not like you can call them to RnD and ask them to unlock weapons for handouts. And in the chance that you take these lockboxes to the front lines, a whole slew of chaos is working against them, often times these people will outright refuse to pay attention to anything but their shooting of the blob and doing mediocre damage. In a standard blob round, you have a bare minimum of 30 minutes to get established with multiple nodes and factories to harass the crew and claim your territory. If despite all the chaos you are causing, people you've likely killed off and what ever part of the station you've basically denied the crew access the crew can STILL gather what they need to produce an X-ray gun and get it unlocked and utilized, the crew has already earned that victory for doing their damn jobs and at least somewhat working together, even if it was just someone stealing the Captain's ID to quickly mine some uranium, gold and diamonds and rush it back to RnD. If you're a mid-late round event, well sorry but it's not like your round was completely ruined to begin with as late join blobs are generally a second chance for fun.

This is exactly how /tg/ does drones. The hard part would be making it so it only displays beyond their natural sight radius.

I remember on Colonial Marines, which uses baycode, albiet old code, you could wear a welding helmet and mesons to 'see' the entire layout of the station around you. Mobs and items weren't visible beyond the 4 tile mark, but you didn't have the shaded tiles so it wasn't a big deal. This may have been patched out, but having infared and terrain of everything within 7 tiles is a huge advantage, I don't know if there is anyway to dumb down the thermal vision to not push through walls or at the very least make it harder to identify people you can't see (Silhouettes or what have you)

Get rid of Bags of Holding spawning singularities
davidchan replied to Cupcakes_n_Hacksaws's topic in Suggestions
Was this actually removed? I accidentally placed a BoH in BoH a few days ago during a frantic moment. Hallway got C4'd I was dragging a crate with a BoH in it to mining for miners. C4 went off because captain and security were all around it and nobody thought to tape off the c4 to keep people back, crate got pushed into the c4 and exploded, BoH went flying so I ran to retrieve it upon gaining conciouness and hit E on instict to store it. Inside my BoH. Frantically realized what I was doing and was about to ahelp it to remove the impending BoH singulo when I realized it didn't spawn, I wasn't dead. I was wearing one BoH and both of them had objects in them. Not sure if this was just removed entirely or a bug prevented it from happening. Needless to say I removed the bag from the bag ASAP and ran my ass to mining to give it to the miner and then go cry in a corner.
