LINDA is better and has more possibilities, I just want LINDA to be sped up a bit, not really ZAS itself.
-
Not needed IMO. If you find, during course of an Autopsy, something is super suspicious and you don't know if Security already knows about it, send a PDA message to the Detective. He has Morgue access for a reason, flag him, tell him the summary of what's up an see if it's one of Sec's cases, if not he's there to be given the Autopsy report already, so he has it in hand as he goes to do CSI Spessman

Slower atmos is NOT the reason the gameplay is so smooth. I encourage you to go and observe a few rounds on /tg/station, they use LINDA as we do, but they have a very VERY sped up version of it, and it runs smooth as silk over there. It's primarily a question of hardware that the server runs on. Now, I don't think our hardware compares to /tg/ so we likely can't mimic their tick rate, even post-upgrade, but anything that's "faster then growing grass" is a benefit at this point, not only for increased lethality in the game, which is kinda low, but also it would make the Atmos Technician job actually relevant again, with decompressed rooms needing an air pump or the atmos system optimized so those rooms refill faster.
-
I remember. But in all fairness, ZAS is not being asked for, but an increased tick-rate on LINDA and ALSO since then we've gotten a hardware upgrade. It is not so easy to compare nowadays because the context and siutations have changed. It's like saying "Well last time I tried to breathe underwater I choked. Now I have a Snorkel but if I try to breathe underwater again I'm going to choke because that is what happened last time."

Fludd's list of tiny stuff for post feature-freeze.*

Finally, my Gaster roleplay can begin in ernest. But in all seriousness, I do sorta miss the Wing Ding speech sometimes, it was nice that Greys felt a little more "Alien" then others, like they couldn't physically make human speech noises, so they had to rely on telepathy. Changing Telepathy color to not be blue like everything else might make it stand out a little more, but it might also be nice to be able to do a sort of... short-range broadcast? IF you're in a group conversation having to whisper to every single person in a room is sort of more of a hassle then I enjoy, especially since people can't see when someone is typing up a TP message like they can with using Say. So an option to send a Telepathy style message to everyone in a short radius would be sorta nice. Like the Grey's Mini-Hivemind they have already, just one that isn't in a "Special" Language. -
There's actually I THINK 2 more Mining suits in the storage room (The room north of the Western airlock.) Iknow there's lockers in there anyway, I THOUGHT there was hardsuits too, but tbh I may be misremembering. If I'm not though, you could support up to 5 miners.

I like the idea, on the condition it be giving a brief grace period before the bot starts to head over. (2-3 minutes) That gives someone more then enough time to recover from a simple error like accidentally closing out the client (Don't judge me.) and should be enough of a delay to let people who had some more serious issues have a chance to recover in time. But in general, 's a pretty solid idea. I wish people would take more SSD's to cryo after a few minutes of making sure they're not immediately comin' back.
-
At no point did I say to forcefully execute them. What I said was, no cryodorm for Permabirg, because if you choose that punishment, then you're gonna stick with it. Either you're "Ghosting", becoming a borg or you're in permabrig with a chance to be busted out or escaping or what have you. You don't get both. (Unless you use the 'ghost' verb, but that disqualifies you for a lot of mid-round spawns.) That, and I said Execution/Cyborging was almost universally the superior options when it comes to not locking a player out of the round, so it's not as bad as it was being made to sound. But I still never said to force it.
-
No. "But why not?" Because that's just execution. The fact you need to add a cryo chamber into permabrig kinda tells you WHY Execution is a viable and commonly requested punishment. (Fun fact: A prisoner can REQUEST Execution/Cyborging over permabrig and can be legally given one at Security's discretion. Not just with Captain/Magistrate approval.) You die. You ghost. You get to do other things, join as a posibrain or drone or pAI or whatever. World's your oyster. Permabrig is NOT fun long-term, gardening and basketball are fun for a while but quickly lose their luster, you're basically cut off from everyone so you can't even RP. Compared to just dying and spawning as any number of mid-round events, it's almost universally worse in EVERY regard in terms of preserving fun for a player.

Can we have female characters actually "look" female?

That being said a ASCII mode event would be as fun as it would be disorienting. Secret hint: Click on the "Icons" menu of the client. you'll find that which you seek. -
[Rules Suggestion] Enforce Clone Memory Disorder
Dinarzad replied to Wheatley29's topic in Suggestions
Personal opnion: This is what I personally do when I am killed and cloned, so take that for what you will on enforcing it. I WILL remember that I got killed, I might even remember WHAT killed me (Vamp, Changeling, Shadowling, or being shot in the face.) What I WILL exclude, is SPECIFICS. If it was a unathi or a human, their name. Sometimes I give up aj ob if the person took forever to kill me. That to me is a compromise. Then you don't have to play dumb, at least not entirely, but it also doesn't mean the antag is 100% fucked either. It gives the Detective a chance to hunt down clues and the like by themselves and not feel marginalized, and the Antagonist a chance to counterplay, without just going "Gosh why am I in this lab?" -
LIMITED public chem dispenser vending machine
Dinarzad replied to alexpkeaton's topic in Suggestions
Agreed with this statement here, at least on the level being discussed in this thread. It's one of the reasons that, despite the fact I think Goon's medical vending machines are really neat, I'd rather not see them added to Para because....it invariably means that only severe injuries will ever warrant a trip to medbay---otherwise, just buy things from a vendor and be done with it. Put just one machine near surgery and restrict it with medical access so only medical personel can use it? It would be very useful to be able to replenish things like trauma kits, gause, salve etc. chemistry cant do such things. Those items are all inside of the existing Medi-Vends and those are all over the place. Medi-vends have Gauze, Trauma Kits and the Burn Kits out of the advanced First Aid Kits, as well as Splints. So they kinda already exist. -
Mechanics have been on Goonstation a decent while, so I imagine a slightly older version would be in the released code. Goon is still closed (correct me if I'm wrong) and there's only an open version because someone leaked it at one point. You'd be more or less correct. A while back Goon's code got leaked, and after some internal debate, they opted to just make that version open source and public and move on, and have closed off their CURRENT code that they have developed since said leak. So there's a slightly dated (earlier this year) version that Goon has basically said is free pickings, and are moving forward from there. https://github.com/goonstation/goonstation-2016 <-- Code in question.

In addition to having specific fabricators, you also have the Mechanic job. The Mechanic job is basically the "D" part of RnD. You don't research shit, but if machines break down or get fucked up, you're the guy to fix it, because you have tools that can easily scan nearly every machine in the game and the capability of printing out new ones. (Though on Goon there IS no standard RnD, not as we have it. Just Chemistry, Toxins/Plasma research, Artifacts and Telesci) There's also the MechComp/Tinkering you can do with setting up complex devices to do various things, etc. Basically: Our current RnD/Protolathe system, is ALL of Goon's fabricators rolled into just two machines. Science's Protolathe and the normal Autolathes. Goon's system seperates them all up to how improvedname listed. Certain fabricators make certain items and are only in very specific and fitting places. That being, usually the relevant department and cargo. You want new doodads outside of your department, you gotta go talk to them.

Make the xenos just a bit more realistic and balanced
Dinarzad replied to The Respected Man's topic in Suggestions
And also add into it how long it takes for a larva to mature, because just cuz the babby got out, doesn't mean it's an insta-xeno. It is pretty useless/helpless until it grows up. So that's incubation time on top of maturity time for the Xenomorph hive to effectively get another member. Which is a decent length of time. Not gibbing on burst though is pretty reasonable. They claw out of your chest cavity, not something I'd think would just totally EXPLODE a body. -
Gift of the Free man. (Scientist specific traitor item)
Dinarzad replied to Lorenzo_The_Marauder's topic in Suggestions
I think it's a Half Life/Gordon Freeman meme/pun/joke. And it's against loyalty implanted people because pick up that can. -
In addition to that, I mean... the level 5 biohazard announcement is basically fuckin instant the moment the blob spawns (The Random event ones) It should PROBABLY have a delay, since... everything else does. (Spiders, Borers, Xenos, etc.)
-
Pretty much this. The gamemode itself is super broken, but on top of it, Xenos are not really well designed as a round focused antagonist. Because either the crew finds them right away and stomps them, or the Xenos build a hive and then it's just a slaughter. They're not terribly great with RP. Because Xenormophs are not exactly going to talk to you, because, frankly, if you're roleplaying a Xenomorph, then you should be an elite killing machine, taking people back to the hive to put eggs into and then go back out there. Expand, consume, thrive. That doesn't leave a lot of room for the talking. Not the same kinda RP as left open by Traitors, Changelings, Shadowlings, cults and even Wizards to a small degree. The only other antag that is as Anti-RP as Xenos, are blobs. An even then a lot of people don't care for blob as a game mode. They're perfectly suited as a late game event, either a round ending one, or something to really add some panic into a round that's gone long.

Which is why I said I'd be okay with it, since everyone starts with Epi-pens anyway

No. I've tried to throw a compromise out here, to give a very fair and powerful counter to emagged drones, and you're not giving me anything back here, just more "Make emagged drones basically worthless, in addition to a super easy counter." Which is really throwin' off "i ded pls nerf" vibes here that you are doing VERY little to disprove here. "Flipping the script" on a drone is no good. At BEST it is a distraction, except it's a distraction the traitor can't control when or where it works, because it no longer takes orders from him. It's laws tell it to rip the station apart, not listen to the syndie. So it just gives away there's a traitor around emagging drones when he might still be setting up. It actively INHIBITS his goal. In addition, keeping it's normal emagg law set and forcing an inability to interact with the round as an "Antagonist" is... Not physically possible. You can't "Not effect the round" while effectign the round. Again. You are basically asking for them to be deleted/removed in every single sense of the word besides blatantly saying it. The entire "Problem" (Of which there never WAS one.) of emagged drones being "super OP" is solved simply by remote detonation alone. That's it. No addendums or additions needed, because no matter where it is, it dies. Instantly. It is the ultimate counter. You can even blow every single drone if you're unsure which one it is and they can all respawn. Cuz Drones don't have rights. This solves the exact problem you stated. So you don't need any additions because problem solved, right? Unless your entire goal of the thread is to 'remove' something that makes you salty, right?
-
Except nobody is saying the fact they're unable to be blown via console should stay. In fact, so far, everyone was under the impression that drones being able to be detonated, emagged or not, was how it was now, so if anything everyone is okay with emagged drone's being able to be detonated as a change. That's enough of a nerf to make it fair, they do NOT need to be outright removed. That's using a Nuke to solve a problem that could be handled with a handgun. AKA: Improve, don't Remove. Removal of features should never be the first option when faced with a problem.

Could use catwalks just on the outer-most layer, so making a frame the shuttle would fit inside of more or less. Would also make sense as a walkway for engineers to do maintenance on shuttles an stuff, EVA work.
-
"Pretty powerful" is an extreme overstatement. As an emagged drone I was sent to kill a Warden, who I jumped on at a pretty ideal time, even shocked doors so he could run. He killed me long before I ever even got him into critical, it was the electrified door that hurt him worse then I ever did. Drones have 1/6th the HP of a borg, throwing a single wrench at them knocks them down to about 75% HP. They're NOT hard to blow up, especially if you just throw shit from a distance. They cannot self-repair and either take the hits or they scurry away. Secondly, being killed is NEVER an improvement to player experience so that's a moot point. Is it REALLY that much more fun to be instant killed by a hellmix from a spray bottle by that same traitor? Or having a changeling sting you and husk you in maintenance? It's not always YOUR player experience that matters, Death happens. It's SS13, get cloned and try again, tab out, join as a borg or a drone or any other numerous aspects. A drone cannot move your body, so unless the traitor in question is waiting in the wings, your body is going to be found and cloned. And borgs are nowhere near as unnoticed as drones. Like... like the moment a borg does anything someone doesn't like, someone starts screaming that it's rogue. They're expected to talk and RP and take orders, from both the AI and crew in general. A drone can't talk except to other drones so it scuttling around and ignoring people is pretty standard.
