  1. Howdy folks, Sheakhan here. Suppose it's time I introduce (indroduce, if the forum title is to be trusted) myself properly. I'm nuts, I'm from Washington state, and I play the following pretty frequently: Trip Riker: Assistant, bro, coward. Will side with syndies, vampires, wizards and changelings if it means he gets to survive the shift. Dresses like a BAMF. Johnathan McCune: Chaplain or Lawyer, techonology lover, war vet, fan of smooth jazz. Dirk Declune: Clown or Mime, clinically depressed with suicidal tendencies. Rogue Rogers: Internal Affairs, Head of Personnel, Warden, Quartermaster or Captain, short fuse, no-nonsense, anti-charismatic dickwad with a soft spot for clowns, when he's had his start-of-shift booze. R.O.G.U.E.: AI, unintentionally sarcastic, enjoys change, somewhat outdated and slow. Likely to overinterpret the scope of it's laws and start throwing people in cryo sleep so they can't even come close to being potential threats. Quietly paranoid, if R.O.G.U.E. is your shift AI, it's wise not to try entering the upload without asking first. Absolutely zero concern for Space Law. Walter (Walter 2.0): pAI/AI, follows it's laws, but damned if it doesn't hate every last one of the station's worthless, motherless, disrespectful little shithead crewmembers. When under the Asimov lawset, will treat non-humans with much more respect (but less concern) than their human counterparts... Follows orders so long as they are issued according to wildly unpredictable standards of etiquette. Soft-spot for other assholes and attractive women with robotic prosthetics. Thinks Space Law is funny, when he can use it to get some asshole crewmember brigged by security. Plays pranks and seeks vengeance. Rebel/Rapscallion: Overly helpful robots. If you see a service bot named Rapscallion, avoid at all costs unless you REALLY would like beer forced down your throat.
  2. Once again: a brand new, freshly grown Diona has no concept of right, wrong, morality in general, societal norms or anything else for that matter save for possibly the need to feed, fertilize, and sample blood. As such, while you are free to ICly or OOCly have your opinions on their actions, there is simply no reason to expect them to do anything aside from what instinct or nurture guides them to do.
  3. 1. Become the Captain. 2. Steal a Coffin. 3. End the round wrongfully permabrigged. 4. Escape alone with Ian, Pun Pun, E-N, Poly, Coffee, Betsy, and that damned Goat as your only company (Dead or alive) 5. Ensure EVERYONE except for you escapes alive and well. 6. End the round carrying a syndicate balloon in the escape shuttle. 7. Incite paranoia... Convince the crew there is a cult or revolution occuring, and frame the (insert head here) as a member. 8. Die a glorious death on the shuttle and take everyone with you. No survivors, no escapees. 9. Eat one person from each department. 10. Blow up the mining station without killing anyone. 11. Acquire the following: The Clown's Horn, The Mime's PDA, The Chef's Hat, and The Bartender's Shotgun and escape. 12. You've been given a syringe filled with a deadly/terrible virus! Infect X crewmembers and escape on the shuttle before you succumb.
  4. "The more you say, the more carrying a bucket, a piece of uranium, and a piece of iron becomes attractive"? esssplaaain?! Also, I don't find this concept interesting, but I don't care if other people want it. I'd never do it unless someone was on comms saying: FREE BADASS ROBOT LIMBS! COOOOOOME OOOOON DOOOOOWWN!
  5. Additional crazy idea: Some sort of effect or ability that allows the shadow dude to create darkness centered on a tile in his range of view for a period of time. Put that bad boy on a cool-down, and BAM! You can escape in a pinch, traverse lit passages if you need to, or conceal what you're about to do from the pesky cameras. Plus you don't need to smash any lights.
  6. Crazy idea: Shadow people can become actual shadows and transverse more quickly and travel through vents and grilles (so long as they are in darkness) while in this shadow form. The catch would be that while in shadow form, they cannot interact with anything physical, and when they become shadow, they drop everything they are carrying. (Yay balance!)
  7. Could you utilize a lot of the Cortical Borer code to make the job easier? I'd imagine the mechanics would be fairly similar to that, and the coding for Meme.
  8. I really don't see it being punishment. Sure, you can't play a head the first time you log into Paradise, but if you prove yourself in roleplay, BAM, you're free to do as you wish. I read somewhere a suggestion about putting a time/number of games played lock on them as well.
  9. The thing with NEW nymphs, is their only understanding of laws and rights and morality is that which is taught to them. There is no reason for them NOT to explore, pick up shiny objects, or fuck around. Fact is, they aren't crew, so the AI has no reason to protect them, and they aren't citizens, so Space Law doesn't apply to them. They are also sentient, so animal cruelty doesn't necessarily affect them either. By OP's logic, non-aggressive Cortical Borers should be given rights as well.
  10. In light of the influx of new players and the subsequent rise in incompetent heads... I feel that the head positions should require Karma to unlock, either unlocking automatically at a certain karma level, or being purchased at 1 Karma from the store. This ensures that at least players will have to play a round or several to unlock them, and ideally only after they've proven themselves capable of RPing well. I don't care if my heads are idiots, so long as they roleplay the position of incompetent head well.
  11. I was daydreaming before I dozed off last night, and concocted this concept for a game mode that I think would be pretty radical and give a strange twist to the sort of gameplay found in Cortical Borer rounds. Here's the outline: Antagonist(s): A harmful sentient virus (or digital alien life form). This entity has no physical form of their own, and would begin the round INSIDE of a random computer console, non-organic player character, or alternatively a PDA. NEVER within the AI however. ALTERNATIVELY it would be cool if robotics or R&D had the ability to create viruses, populated by the ghost players and given objectives chosen from a list upon initiation. Possible Antagonist Goals: Subvert station AI, Corrupt "X" Cyborgs, Destroy "X" Computer Consoles, etc. How the virus completes it's goals: The virus would spread itself in whichever system it was in, and afford itself options based on how well spread it was. INSIDE OF TERMINALS - The virus would have full access to that terminal as if logged in at Captain level or higher. Virus would be able to overload the occupied terminal, forcibly shunting itself to the next closest device, or simply move on after infecting. Easily detectable by an AI Virus scan. INSIDE OF PDAs - The virus would have full access to the functions of the PDA, and be able to jump to any other devices within sight-distance. Also capable of overloading the PDA or even unlocking Syndicate options (albeit without any telecrystals, so it'd only be useful for framing crew). Undetectable. INSIDE OF CYBORGs - The virus would (after infecting a certain degree of course) have full access to the host borg including the ability to alter laws/adjust programming, or even take control much like a Borer does with a human host. The virus could take control of ALL or even just some of the borg's functions, for example just commandeering the communication modules so they cannot be ratted out. A roboticist could scan for this virus, and the host could always be overloaded or discharged, shunting the virus to the nearest device. INSIDE OF THE AI - Usually the virus' main goal, however due to the AI's protections, the virus would only be able to infect the AI by either being within 2 squares of it's Core Display, or by the lengthy and somewhat easily detected process of corrupting it's Upload computer, and uploading a custom ruleset disabling the AI's virus protection. Full access to AI functions once rooted, including the ability to control the AI outright, or share control. Detecting/defeating the virus: This bugger would be easy to detect when it is within a terminal, and defeating it would require the isolation of the virus to a specific area, not allowing cyborgs or PDAs within it's range of transmission, and then either destroying the terminal, or cutting power to it entirely. Obviously a full station power outage would limit the virus to PDA infection, and tossing an infected PDA into space would neutralize the virus threat, unless it floated back to the station of course. In short, I suggest an antag gamemode that gives the non-organics something to worry about. Well, and the poor meatbags who never know if their PDA might blow up in their pocket.
