Arming the crew this way would promote something that shouldn't be happening in the first place. Valid hunting.. In a Medium RP server like Paradise, a civilian/assistant is there to sign up for a job late shift if needed, visit friends or learn things as needed. Other civilian roles, like cargo, medbay and science, to name a few of all the roles, don't have a reason to carry a firearm due to their job. Past MANY IC reasons NT wouldn't allow it, the OOC reasons, like valid hunting, amass quickly. It's easier to break up a disarm spam-fest than it is to revive someone who's head was nearly blasted off from two point blank improvised shells.

Name: Naazha Hammuhirin Age: 40 Gender: Male Race: Tajaran Blood Type: O+ General Occupational Role(s): Medical Doctor (Surgeon), Station Engineer, Atmos Tech. Can be found as CMO or CE on occasion. Can also be found doing odd jobs here and there, like being a Chef, or a Librarian. Old guy's got to take a break sometimes, you know? (He has no idea what he's doing.) Biography: Naazha grew up off of the Tajaran home-world of Ahdomai. Many, many years after NT had helped free the Tajaran home world from the grip of The Overseers, Naazha's Family took to space to work in NT's ever growing company. Naazha, in specifics, was born in Habitat Station Engolin, located in Tau Ceti space. He grew up living there as his mother and father worked odd jobs. Cleaning and cooking for the habitat station, sometimes doing minor repairs to damaged equipment. (Very minor, think of fixing cut wires or broken pipes.) It was this that gave Naazha his love for fixing things, be it an object or a person. Naazha's sister, much older than he, moved away when the black Tajaran turned 16. By the age of 18 Naazha, following his passions, enrolled in Medical School, with the aid of NT and his parents to pay for classes. During his time there he was diagnosed with BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder). Naazha was found to be a high functioning patient and continued his efforts to learn. At the age of 25 he completed his degree and moved on to work for the habitat station he grew up in as a General Practitioner. At the age of 29, and more classes, he stepped up to work as a surgeon, specializing in Neurosurgery. It was during this time that Naazha's mother passed away due to heart failure and old age. Naazha's father followed a month later. At the age of 32, Naazha's BPD began to grow worse and in his seclusion, having stayed in the same place he had been for all his life, he quit his job as a Neurosurgeon and went back to school. For four years the would be engineer focused his passion to fix things on multiple applications of advanced engineering. It was there he learned of NT's research stations and after graduating with a bachelor's degree the middle aged Tajaran signed up for work aboard the NSS Cyberiad. During his time on the Cyberiad, Naazha's BPD has been on a decline, leaving him fraternizing with many people, forming friendships, and even abandoning his old living space to move to Mars. It's been the greatest decision of his life. Qualifications: Master Degree in General Surgery (Added years of school to move to Neurosurgery), Bachelor's Degree in Advanced Engineering. Employment Records: General Surgeon, Neurosurgeon aboard the HS Engolin. (7 Years) Engineering and Atmospheric Maintenance and General Practitioners in Med-bay aboard the NSS Cyberiad. (4 years) Security Records: [Clearance: Security] - Was arrested for Domestic Violence during his time on HS Engolin. An altercation with a neighbor led to bloodshed in a fistfight. During his hearing he was sentenced to a fine. Doctors chalked this up to the BPD flaring up after the loss of his parents. Has been known to be skeptical of the company at times. Medical Records: Diagnosed with BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder). Although he is a high functioning BPD sufferer it is best to keep an eye on him. At the age of 27 he was put under for surgery to remove a small tumor from his liver. The growth was benign and no signs of it returning have shown up. Personnel Photo (Appearance text): Naazha stands at just under six feet tall. His black fur is well cleaned and bright blue eyes and a friendly smile are always meeting a glance. Belly and chest fur are a dark shade of grey. Inner ear, chin and paw/feet fur match the belly shade. There is a scar on his right side, below his rib-cage, that causes the fur in the area to grow oddly. Commendations [only to be added by admin]: Reprimands [only to be added by admin]: Other Notes: God I hope this looks nice and not far fetched. He's an old fart.

I thought that as well when I saw it! Been a long time since I've played Starbound though, months at least. But yeah, it looks amazing!

Glowshrooms and shadowlings don't work at all
GuiltyBeans replied to TermedClepe2's topic in Suggestions
Usually they only tell the crew to do that when the shrooms start to enter the main halls/departments. Also I didn't know that Veil makes the shrooms not work. Thought it was like flares and fire; natural light that doesn't dim or turn off like powered lighting. -
Glowshrooms and shadowlings don't work at all

Mmmh, that's why I said: The main thing is communication and teamwork. Don't thrall someone and flee instantly without telling them a plan. Make a plan before hatching. But.. Yes. I do have to say, don't think glowshrooms should be taken out. The light the produce could be decreased some.. Making it light enough to see but not as bright as what a PDA light might be. And growth time could be lengthened.. But even then a good botanist could modify it to make them grow faster. Which is why you see glowshrooms that expand rapidly. -
Glowshrooms and shadowlings don't work at all

It's a bit easier to deal with these when you know how. Shadowlings may be HURT from light, but they can tank the damage well enough to disable them when needed. Light tiles can be color swapped and shut off with a multi-tool, or dismantled one by one. Once one tile is down you can wait and heal before moving on to a new one. But besides that it's smart to get your thralls to do the dirty work for you while you, as a Sling, draw the attention of security to other places. Glowshrooms can be destroyed pretty easy with a scythe, welding tool or anything else that cuts. It does take a while to clear them, but, work together to clear one area and move to the next using the same strategy of misdirection. -
Guide to Combat: How to lose friends and infuriate people.

Also, for those that do not use hotkey mode and want SOME robustness, but not near as much as hotkey mode will give you. The following buttons help: PgUp: Swap hands. PgDn: Use item in selected hand. End: Toggles throw. Home: Drops item. Delete: Cancels pull. Insert: Doggles intent as such; Help -> Disarm -> Grab -> Harm -> Help -> Repeat. But this was an amazing post! +1 -
If it's possible to do this, I'd support it. But like you said, a few languages may be a bit harder to replicate for each race. Like the vulp language. It's a body language as much as it is vocal, Still, I can imagine all the silly situations that would come up from someone trying to speak to a tajaran in their native tongue.

After the recent test with Meta Station I am sure there will be plenty of bug reports. Things that went awry in the map, things that weren't as they should be in general, but I wanted to make a thread here that would let people suggest small things, or large things, for the map in general. Things that can change as the map is tested and so on. I don't expect things to happen RIGHT as they are suggested, just some idea tossing to have fun. First of all - Coding Difficulty: N/A to Easy? Scope of this all?: It varies! For my suggestions here, small. Balance and Additions: The balance here would be to Atmosia. All hail. As is, on spawn, there's only one Atmos hardsuit given to the Atmos team, where on Box Station there's at least two. Adding one other will balance that out, unless the idea of a shared suit works out. Secondly, the turbine just to the South West of Atmos has an all access door and a huge canister of plasma. I don't want to hug box that area too much but making that area a Atmos only door would be wonderful. And finally, if there's a way to expand the room the turbine itself is in, I think it would be a good idea. As is the piping system in Atmos is set up to not run anywhere towards the turbine. Though that give Atmos a lot to do if they want to set a loop TO the turbine. SO YEAH! Please post some more lovely ideas down below. This was only something I garnered from being in Atmos for about thirty minutes when we tested Meta.

I'll just copy what I said in Discord! Quote: "Hmmmm.. o3o I wish I knew more about mapping and stuff. But changing para a bit to help accommodate the larger pop would be amazing. Adding a smaller satellite like station would give the mechanic and pod pilot much more to do. As it stands, the mechanic just builds one ship then ducks into space for the shift to collect them fun toys. Would give science, if the other station didn't have a proper teleporter, something to work towards maybe setting up over there. And some player can be sent, if shit goes south at that station, as a support team. That would open up several things. Teamwork for the players to enjoy outside of small events or nukes and slings/cult and a few chances for antag on both main and secondary station to make moves and be creative." But yes, to add more to this. I think if something like this idea were to be implemented it needs to be planned and talked about for a while before it's done. Which leads to what was said by Scrub, the backlog of other pull requests will need to be worked on first and can be as this idea here is tweaked and thought out much more extensively!
