Link or it's not real (can we/are we allowed to actually do this?)

So because I made the comment here it's been requested by two people I do this. Don't know if anyone else will go for it as it changes a bit of things but no core mechanics (I'm not that good at code just yet). Basically this would add more colors of slimes with their uses as well as switch some of the slime reactions around a bit. Nothing at all is removed. So I could list down all the different slimes and the word or two that explain what its core would do, but I think I'll just post this instead and slowly die inside because I think it's awful and think the rest of you will think it's awful. I made this in Paint.NET please have mercy. Yeaaaah... I never liked how organized the normal slime chart was. How does something even do that in normal mutating? As you can see I have four major sections with another four than do their own thing, and five different tiers as they are commented as in the code. For the record I never really liked the bluespace slime icon and make my own in my first round of this hackery. I won't go into the reactions each slime would do, partly because I'm still working on them but mostly because I'm ashamed I'm even posting this here. So here I sit, awaiting your *shudder* constructive criticism. Today is not a good day for me to be posting this but seriously, tell me what you all think so far and make me worry slightly less about how I'd go about giving these all reactions. someone kill me plz EDIT: Dammit Blackmage ALRIGHT FINE. Here's a list of most of the slime reactions I was thinking about. They're worse than the actual chart so don't expect me to be back here until tomorrow (or the next day after reading any comment) SLIMES Gray - Monkeys, gray slimes Orage - Fire, hot Metal - metal stuff Light blue - Frost, cold Light green - no idea yet Yellow - Electricity, light Red - Wrath, aggro Oil - Explosion Silver - Silver White - Bork Aquamarine - Fish and stuff Blue - Water, calm Green - Hydroponics Pink - Slime potion Purple - Slime steroid Black - Slime mutate, shadowpeople(rather this be random playable mobs), darkness Pyrite - Paint stuff, Bananium(honk) Gold - Gold stuff Radiated - Uranium, radation(Mutations?) Ghost - Makes user a ghost, ectoplasm Bluespace - bluespace things Dark blue - Crit Cerulean - Slime mutate 2, badge(hur) Sepia - Camera stuff Dark Green - Viruses(?) Light pink - Slime potion 2 Dark purple - Slime steroid 2 Evil - Makes antags (NEEDS ADMIN APPROVAL IC AND OOC WHICH IT WON'T) Gib - Gibbanite, self/area gib Shiny - Diamonds, bling(?) Adamantine - Golems, armor(sprite) Plasma - Plasma, plasma fire/atmos Plantinum - Money Rainbow - Drugs and rainbows ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh why

omg so much pressure I can't breath someone get me some Salbutamol

That's the only thing I will give them. It kind of just has to be done

Fox in your opinion, and I'm saying this noticing you read the resomi PR in Baystation and commented on it, would these be a viable race to ADD to the station? Obviously some of the features might be changed or removed (like the flap crawling) but I think I like them as they are so far. This could also add in a new karma job, a tailor, to help assist in different races jumpsuits. Could be inline with the barber and right next to them in that little wooden room no one uses. It should be stated that if they do go into the shock stages and see hallucinations then they are to only act a certain crazy and not grief crazy. (might be a little much asking for RP but I digress) I'd argue that would be a species ban without karma refund if they abuse that but give them at least one chance to make up for it I see nothing wrong with vox. All of them I see (aside from that creepyass traitor that needed to kill me) are good for their race. They could lay on the insults a little more, the naming they use for other species, but only if it's understood OOC that that's how they are. Anyone who doesn't, well that's what security is for

I'm going to read that as a statement and not as a gripe towards everyone excluding yourself (the way language works it would be considered the latter). Grays and Kida seem to be alright as they are for the time being. Grays could use a few more features but honestly who's going to work on them or suggest anything that a simple gray alien would have? They're basic, kind of boring in their traditional lore, only known for kidnapping people and ERPing them for science studying them. Kida are kind of shitty (there's a whole other topic going on about that elsewhere) and suggestions have been made for them, but it's been argued that adding more features in addition to what they have would make them more "snowflakey". That's a word I'm going to start hating soon if I don't already. I'm going to stop now and just say part of this problem is the "glorious IPC master race" just because I'm a dick like that.

So... people actually want more slimes? Seriously? I mean that's great and all, but this was the buggery that made me quit editing SS13 back then. It scarred me. I almost felt bad going back to it but the code is a bit cleaner than I remember it. I'll continue my work on it I guess. It's going to be very cluttered but feature full at least. Some of the ideas I have would require admin permission and I will break something before it's finally pushed. oh my gosh it's going to look so fucking ugly no one in their right mind will like this I'll add the slime satchel to this branch as well if I can get it approved
-
I think it's just the button to fire it, not move it around. Or maybe he's moving it manually...?
-
Yeah, but last I remember you can't blow people up with mindbullets. ... THAT should be a power in genetics
-
I think you'd need more slimes for that. For some reason I've been refactoring them and made a shitload more (in design). I have no idea why I want more slimes. Maybe because I like the colors?
-
I would like to comment that if an IPCs PDA is integrated into them then that would allow for some !!FUN!! PDA bombing. Oh the amount of trolling/griefing and IPC murder you could do with that... Aside from that flashlight face idea, IPCs don't need anything else added to them. Let the "glorious synthetic master race" be just what they are. Whatever that is
-
You're just being salty there. These things shouldn't replace vox, no reason to. And their features are a little too much. BUT THEY LOOK SO FUCKING ADORABLE! I want these so bad but they would need so many edits done to them. The best I could imagine is that they are civilian-only race (however you code that in) as I can only imagine them not wanting or having no reason to want to work for Nanotrasen, let alone them might be not-fitting for employment. That might make them a graytide only race though... They're so cute though. Can't there be some way to get them into our codebase without having such a bad time?
-
Easy peasy. I've been looking at the code for bags (with a similar and completely different thought in mind) and it wouldn't be hard to make a slime satchel that they could use. The only problem here is anyone doing it in a timely manner in addition to whatever other PR they have planned. I'd do this along with other little things I'm messing with but uh... I haven't really finished any of them yet -.-

This will only become a thing if we have a type of "haunting" round. That wouldn't be such a bad idea actually. Basically ghosts will be tormenting the crew's life and the only way to silence them is to remove what is channeling them into existence. But we already have too many gamemodes the Chaplain has to attend to and this is already a feature that Cult does. Maybe something a little more specific but I think that was mentioned before as a possible gamemode
-
It could use a little bit more to it, and a reminder for the signaler to be set on. I'd like the other options for bomb triggers listed too please. Also any idea if cooled oxygen helps in making the explosion bigger? Otherwise I LIKE IT!
-
This just makes everything more complicated. If that's the case then no one needs to use money on the station because it's expected by order that work be done. We'd need an external use for money unless all vending machines are from another company other than NanoTrasen. That Cargo Revamp topic is probably the best way to go right now.

Thunderdome does seem like the basic solution to this. You don't need to give ghosts anything it seems. Just things for the players to do while they're not in the core game. +1 if Thunderdome TV can become a thing that the station can watch :3

Remove/Thread GitHub discussions or the suggestions forum.
Tauka Usanake replied to Shadeykins's topic in Suggestions
Shadey makes a bunch of good points and I agree with them. However you can't remove one or the other. Tigercat stated that all three have their usage and I see it too. What the problem is with having all three is that more often than not Suggestion topics are not linked with a GitHub counterpart and that's IF a suggestion gets turned into any sort of project or PR. The issue is not having multiple places to talk about additions to the server. The issue is that there are lots of ideas but no one who wants or is capable of implementing them and have no place on the repository for discussion. Running on that, the GitHub issues and PR sections are used for discussions on only those topics. Issues are useful for finding out what sort of problem exists in the code and PRs are for talking about and addition to the server that is already in the works. If that PR joints off from a Suggestion then it should be linked appropriately. If not then maybe it should have been before getting a PR to see what the community's thought on it would be. TL;DR - Suggestions are for things that don't exist but might, and should be accordingly linked to a PR if made. GitHub is for things that are getting implemented and are being activity worked on. -
Hmmmmm. This is something I once thought about when I thought of cyborgs Mk.2. Never thought it would turn out being IPCs but I would think of basically a more free willed, and thereby expensive, cyborg body that was not bound to the station or laws and could also look more human. Basically what IPCs are minus the look. Kind of like this but no Segway legs and more human shaped. I know there was a better image somewhere

It's going to be really tough to balance ghost features with griefing capabilities. Maybe if we gave some feature that they could communicate with the living, but then that could be abused too if not done correctly
-
Haunting! However the Boo! ghost power/spell isn't satisfying enough, anything else might be too annoying or game/emersion breaking
-
The movement begins! Now if only it was so easy with other races...
-
We don't have any sort of gamemode/event related to them though, do we? I think we might need that. [/offtopic]
-
Wouldn't work without some type of GUI which ghosts, as well as a bunch of other mobs, don't have. Maybe not NEEDED but will be so much more useful for interacting with any sort of ghost item. Otherwise, I can't get behind this. Why would you want to fight others when you could watch the rest of the station ERP everything eventually get murdered?
-
Like I mentioned before, why can't you use the system that the holodeck uses? Or what the syndicate/vox raiders/white ship do? That's kind of what I want to do for this station. Make multiple docks in a single hall and put them beside each other. The only issue I can see in this is that every ship will have to fit inside a predefined area or multiples of that area. More of a mapping issue than a coding issue but unlike coding mapping is slightly easier. As for the design I made way back, I like it. Don't think anyone else will too much. Also like I said, Security might have to be off-station. [spoiler2]First complaint I'm betting (besides the possible shitty layout of everything and open hallways) is that there are crew quarters[/spoiler2] [spoiler2]Edit: I am also over my initial disappointment that Plotron invoked on me. No hard feelings[/spoiler2]
