  2. Jebediah here. Some of the older people here may know him; these days, he only shows his face every now and then. IPCs are cool as heck. I love the idea of not feeling pain and just being able to walk up to Robotics, full of dents and missing limbs, then calmly ask for new parts.
  3. Hey there, you hot, smoking, sexy person. Who do you play? I play Tithonus. You'll see him doing all kinds of jobs, expect for science. Tithonus is a rad dude, not a nerd.
  4. Defibrillators can only be recharged by removing the power cell with a screwdriver, but curiously, medbay doesn't have even one screwdriver. It has a wrench and a crowbar by the cryotubes, which I assume are there for changing the oxygen tanks (even though that probably happens once in a blue moon). I don't see the harm in putting a screwdriver on the table with those two tools.
  5. Make cluwnes more valid. Give everyone a big red message when a cluwne is created saying "you feel an intense urge to purge!"

  10. Name: Jebediah Age: 30 years since reactivation (true age unknown). Gender: Male. Race: IPC. Blood Type: Oil. General Occupational Role(s): Roboticist, Scientist, Research Director, Engineer, Janitor, and Shaft Miner. Biography: In 2537, an explorer and scavenger named Zeke Davis found a crashed ship on an unknown desert planet. In the wreckage, he discovered a severely damaged and non-functional IPC. Zeke, tired of traveling alone, used his knowledge in robotics and engineering to get the Positronic Brain functioning again, and he was even able to create a spiderbot body for it. He decided to name the brain "Jebediah," after his favorite uncle who had died decades ago. Jebediah spent the next 15 years exploring with Zeke, meanwhile learning the basics of robotics and engineering. Over the first 7 years, the duo were able to gather enough parts to give Jeb a new body, although almost none of his parts matched. In their 12th year together, Jeb decided to adopt his current purple paint job and rainbow monitor. Zeke protested slightly, saying that the colors were a little too gaudy, but Jeb stood by his choice. At the end of their time together, Jeb thanked Zeke for all he had done for him and told Zeke that he wanted to visit New Canaan alone. After a tearful goodbye, the pair parted ways. Jebediah spent 10 years on New Canaan working in shipyards and spaceports as an engineer, mechanic, and roboticist. He refined the skills that Zeke taught him and lived well among other IPCs, but he could feel the stars calling out to him. He discovered a NanoTrasen office while on New Canaan and decided to work for them as a Roboticist. After 4 years, he was stationed on the Cyberiad, where he has made a few friends and learned a lot of new skills. Qualifications: Decades of first-hand experience with engineering and robotics. A year of science training and mining on the NSS Cyberiad. Employment Records: Engineer and roboticist for 10 years on New Canaan. Engineer, roboticist, scientist, and shaft miner on NSS Cyberiad. Security Records: He was once arrested for crime committed by a human named Jebidiah (note the alternate spelling). Medical Records: None. He is an IPC.   11. Hardsuit helmets, when attached to a hardsuit, can be toggled on or off of your head from a command in the Object tab. Toggling the lights on a hardsuit helmet has an action button - action buttons are those things that appear in the top left of your HUD for some items - but toggling the helmet on or off your head does not have an action button; I suggest that it should. This would probably be very simple to code, seeing as there are several items already tied to action buttons. In case anyone protests to having two action buttons using the same icon (the hardsuit helmet), keep in mind that security gas masks have three action buttons and nobody seems to be bothered by that. Thoughts?

  14. There's already one of those on the mining asteroid outpost. It should be really easy for anyone who knows mapping to put one by the kitchen.
  15. There aren't any at all and it feels so weird. I feel there should be at least two. Maybe they could go in medical storage or the examination room.
  16. Welding goggles aren't replaceable, as far as I know. They should probably be in the autolathe for the exact same cost as welding helmets.

  19. Anyone who has used the Incision Management System knows how amazing it is. It's a scalpel, hemostat, retractor, and cautery in a single tool, and it performs the applicable surgery steps much faster. The IMS is obtained from RnD after they've done a certain amount of research, and while it's not at all necessary for the progression of a round, it is incredibly nice to have. I've been toying with the idea of another advanced surgery tool. There are five remaining tools after the four covered by the IMS. Those tools are the surgical drill, circular saw, bone setter, bone gel, and FixOVein; I propose two versions of my new tool idea: the "Bone and Blood Device" or the "Bone Management System" (names are open to suggestion). The Bone and Blood Device (BBD) would combine the circular saw, bone gel, bone setter, and FixOVein as a single tool with the same vastly reduced operation times that the IMS has. If the BBD is too much, it could be reduced to the Bone Management System (BMS), which would just be the circular saw, bone gel, and bone setter with reduced operation times. The FixOVein is removed from this device because, from my experience with surgery, it is not used as often as other tools and operations involving it are reasonably quick as-is. I'm not including the surgical drill anywhere because that is such a rarely used tool that it can remain standalone. Tech and mineral requirements for making this device are highly open to discussion. However, if nobody protests, I think it could remain at the same tech and mineral requirements as the IMS. Otherwise, I think it should be slightly more expensive in tech and mineral requirements. In my eyes, the addition of this tool would make a complement the IMS well. RnD can already make a pair of improved construction tools in the form of the jaws of life (combines crowbar and wirecutters) and the hand drill (combines wrench and screwdriver), so it feels appropriate to have a pair of highly advanced surgical tools as well. Finally, there is the issue of spriting. If someone is willing to sprite this tool, I would be willing to attempt to code it (attempt is the operative word). Be advised that I am on vacation until around July 9. I would much rather have someone who actually knows how to code do it, but I once made a suggestion that literally required a single line of code to be added, and I had to end up doing that myself, so I could do it again if need be. Do you like the BBD, the BMS, or do you think that we should absolutely not add another advanced surgical tool (please explain why if you feel this way). What do you think the tech and mineral costs should be? The same as the IMS, or more (if more, be specific if you can)?
  20. I just realized where some of the confusion may come from. The effect of adding a fourth priority is not to add something higher than the current high; it's to add something even lower than the current low while still making it possible to get (i.e. not "never"). Call it "highest" or "lowest" or whatever, but my point is to be able to set three tiers with multiple jobs and a single job you love, rather than two and a single job. I just think it would be more flexible and allow for more fine tuning of jobs, as the current system feels a too rigid (for me, anyway).
  21. What I believe it could change is not getting the job you want the most, but jobs you have set as backups. For example: I have sec officer on high. I have roboticist, scientist, engineer, multiple medical jobs all on medium. I have shaft miner and janitor on low. This doesn't really reflect how I actually prefer my jobs though. If we had 3 tiers and a highest job, I could make my preferences more like this: Sec on highest; medical, engineering, and botany on high; science on medium; janitor and miner on low. You still compete for one job you really, really want, but you have more of a cushion to get a job you enjoy anyway. I agree that such a change may not have any effect, but I think it's equally likely that it would, and it certainly wouldn't harm anyone. An alternative idea would be a full number rank system, like setting jobs to 1, 2, 3, 4... etc. Certainly, this would be more difficult, but what do you guys think about the impact this could have, if any?
  22. Exactly as the title says. It would function as the current "High" priority does, meaning only one job could be set to "Highest," and multiple jobs would be able to be set to "High," "Medium," and "Low." I've often found that the current priority system is restrictive and doesn't let me set my jobs how I would actually want. Three tiers and a single "must have" job would be a more liberating way to do it.
