So, I was thinking, maybe I should like... discuss my roleplaying history a bit, give some perspective to whoever...
Ok, here goes: It all started with a cool red box...I was elected DM, cuz they were my books, and no one but me had any clear idea as to what we were doing. We played that classic D&D, and it was friggin EPIC. Seriously, still one of the best games I have ever run.
After that it was the advanced stuff, with the unearthed arcana, monster manuals and all.. tomes upon tomes were poured over, their contents indelibly inscribed on our eager minds...
Time passed, life stuff happened, but I always met players ('...you play d&d?' was a stock icebreaker) and since I had EXP in DMing I've run Cyberpunk (great), Shadowrun (friggin awesome), flirted with Rifts (wish I coulda done more of that, JUICER BABY!), and settled on GURPS... (I would have steve jackson baby)
I have played freeform, with no rules or dice, tabletops with ALL the rules and lots of dice, obscure one-off stuff, and even looked at that thing d&d became (sad).
Because I was almost always the DM, I got pretty good at playing different types of characters, giving NPC's as much depth as I could muster. Thus I developed that 'method' style I referred to.
Gangbusters... any of you ever play that? Me either, I just read the books a lot.
Anyway, I look forward to trying to make friends here.
edited cuz I realized how much of a weirdo I sounded like
