Give me guidelines and I will follow them. I'm just a newbie amateur spriter who barely knows the game itself as it is. Edit: Is it really that long? Because I could have gone way deeper than that if i really wanted to

Could be summoned through the gateway maybe, if the gateway leads to xen then ghosts could spawn in as vortigaunts. I would still like it to be an insanely high costing karma race though. I used to roleplay one of these on a gmod server and I have to say they were probably my favorite character. Even if it costs like 100-200 karma I would still like it as a choice if possible.
-
I can see the appeal of mankinis now.
-
Go ahead. I was mainly trying to copy paste an existing race into ss13 with minor changes to make it fair Edit: Hell depending on what it is, if you don't have sprites already I'll make them. I'm in a spritey mood right now

Thanks for the feedback. I mainly just do things I would personally like to be added and even if it's an expensive karma race I'm totally okay with that. I earn tons of karma as it is and would just LOVE to have a character be one of these. I'm not the biggest fan of half life but this species in particular is probably one of my favorite alien race designs I have ever seen.

Vortigaunts are a species from half-li "BUT ERIN IT'S A NEW SPECIES!" Just let me finish first alright? Okay. Vortigaunts are from Half life. Heres my sprite for them: "ERIN I AM UNSURE WHAT VORTIGAUNTS ARE!" Well here's what they are and what they do: Vortigaunts will have some pros and cons as to not make all of the ss13 community scream about snowflakes or whatever so here they are. Pros: - Hive-mind - "Special snowfleik powers like the ability to heal anything other than themselves." - 8 of them surrounding a body can all decide to revive somebody if their corpse is still fresh. - can shoot bolts of electricity which can charge things but takes time to replenish. Cons: - are slightly slower than humans. - can still be facehuggerererded or whatever the term for it is. - Require oxygen to breathe. - Cannot wear shoes or most clothing. - Can be equipped in shackles which stops them from being able to use ANYTHING I wrote in the pros section, but acts as internals. - Traitor Vortigaunts can't access the hive-mind because they are part of another hivemind or something I don't know. - Can't use human firearms. So yeah, between the "kewl snoflek powaz" and the cons I think they are pretty balanced. (By the way, I put their hands in the same place as human hands.. so they can carry things, Maybe. Don't know if the sprite is gonna be a huge issue for that but meh.) Also feel free to recommend other pros and cons because I wrote this pretty quickly and don't know if it would be balanced so, go ahead and actually make educated guesses for me instead.

Just did all 3 states vortigaunts appear in, so if somebody doesn't want the power removing slave things they don't need to add them. But yeah thanks for the feedback I appreciate it.

Added the magic munchies. Not really fond of this sprite though. I wanted to make a cereal out of it but I think it doesn't really hold up to the traitor tots.
-
That actually sounds better, sounds like it'd work a bit like cup chicken soup. Now all I need to do is make changling stew and wizard cereal or something... I could make a whole themed pack! Any suggestions for names?
-
I wouldn't mind cargo being able to order a crate of them for the chef or something either. My idea for how they would work is the packet contains like 40-60 "units" of traitor tots. You would pour any amount into a bowl and the more you pour the more bites it has or something and thus the higher amount of hunger and minor healing fixed.

It may seem like ripping off of aliens but, perhaps giving different types of necromorphs? It'd be quite dead space like. (I haven't played any but I've seen some crazy looking things) A hunter like one.. sentinel etc.etc. I had actually thought of that it's just that I've been too lazy to do them on my own and don't know if anybody even wants to put work into them yet. My original plans were to have the regular ones which lunge at you and deal tons of damage, a breeder which if i remember correctly from the game was a little thing that went around drilling into peoples skulls and a few others like stationary turrets to defend the spire thing which are essentially tendrils and acid spitting. But I wanted to keep ranged attacks limited since they are supposed to be powerful close range. I know there are other types and I could make up my own but I'm not a deadspace fan and don't know how most of them work so yeah, I'm kind of winging it since I think it would be cool. Plus although it may not seem like it I am trying to keep it somewhat simple by combining already existing things but making them their own experience.

So I don't know if the graphics thread I posted would really state that I'm open to having these added but here are my most wanted additions out of my sprite pool. (I am willing to change these as best as I can if needed.) Probably the easiest suggestion: Crutches Crutches would allow people with broken, missing or splinted legs (I think thats the word?) to move around with relative ease. If you have only one crutch it would be a little slower and during the first few minutes you have a slight chance of falling over. Two crutches makes things a little easier at the cost of you being able to use either of your hands for the period that you hold both crutches. You would move faster and not trip over unless the floor is wet or has a banana or other slippery object on it like normal. Crutches will only work so long as you have one working leg still, otherwise you will need a wheelchair. I lied, this is probably the easiest: Walkers Walkers would be able to carry a bag on the front of them and will keep whoever is using them from slipping on wet floors, however they are slow and require both of your hands to push them. And besides, what are you all ageist? You don't want to be ageist on the internet. Else the tumblr-kin will invade us! WOAH WHERE DID THAT COME FROM suggestion: Necromorphs Yeah, Necromorphs. Now hear me out! These essentially work similarly to aliens. They walk slowly but have a short sprint burst which knocks over whoever they hit but stops as soon as they hit something or after a second or two. They don't get acid spit, instead their claws can tear open doors even if they are powered, break down walls and they have a scream which destroys lights or something IDK. In order to reproduce they must find player corpses or kill players and take said corpses away from a public area so that they can turn it into one of their own. This would take some time and is best done in the darkness to speed it up a slight amount. They also have the ability changelings have which allow them to come back after they have died so long as they still have one limb or more, if they have no limbs they can also be brought back by leaving them around non-converted corpses. (They could also be a genetics mishap maybe?) So mostly a mishmash of already existing things. Aliens that are robust and don't use facehuggers, and the changeling ability to come back to life if they have limbs. I think that should be fairly easy compared to making them from absolute scratch but hey! What do I know!

Yeah shortly after posting those they sparked a discussion in mini-chat about how awesome it would be to have a necromorph gamemode. Too bad the coders for the server are so limited. Otherwise these and the crutches in my opinion would make the best additions out of everything I have posted so far. Would love to see how necromorphs vs humans vs xenomorphs would go too!

Added this picture: Everyone on imgur really hates me posting these sprites it seems hah. If anybody knows a way for me to publish them privately while them still being visible in the thread without needing to click a link please tell me. Other then that I don't care too much about it.

Alright thanks. I've had issues with rules like that on forums in the past. Also. I saw your sprites as well. I was considering waiting a few weeks on posting this thread until I had a lot of sprites like you had in your thread. But meh.

Since i'm unsure of what the posting rules here are i'm just going to reply to both of you in one message. Reply for Tauka: The GLaDOS was a labour of love mainly, if anyone really wanted to add it I would assume it would be an alternative look to the already existant AI. Maybe with a few more features or something. I just think that a flat screen as the AI is kind of boring. I also don't know of a deadspace-station since i'm still really new to the game though I can definitely see the crutch being added realistically. I also have a granny walker by the way! But I just don't like how it looks yet. Reply for NTSAM: Oh please, you flatter me too much. I have to add leg removal as well but so far I really like how it looks. Though the legs look a bit odd.
-
I'll seperate the shoes and all that and maybe change the number if anybody decides they want to add it. Thanks though, I've done a few others but I need to really polish them off before I'm ready to post them. I'll also take requests if I personally think I can do them or want to.

So I've been talking about spriting a lot recently and even once over OOC on the server so I decided it would be best that I start actually putting stuff for people to see. Note that all of these are screencapped and not the actual size file, probably incomplete or sort of mediocre but I'm putting them here anyway. These first two pictures were sort of inspired by seeing a player in a hardsuit walking around named clarke. I never really got into deadspace but I did play a little bit of the first one and thought its content matched ss13 very well I thought of these working like xenomorphs in the way they can crawl through vents and need other players to "reproduce." However the player MUST be deceased and they do not get acid spit abilities or anything. They are robust in a close encounter and their limbs must be removed in order to kill them permanently. They would be able to pry open doors, smash windows quickly and would gain bonuses for being near blood and darkness in order to incentivize making the stations atmosphere as close to the Ishimura as possible. This was inspired simply by the addition of wheelchairs to the server. Would probably be like if you lost a leg you could hold a crutch in that sides hand to help you move about, though tripping makes it fall on the floor like any other item. Would be slightly slow but you could have 2 crutches to make walking slightly faster. These are a bunch of sprites I uploaded to reddit recently including the first test sprite I did for ss13 (obviously the cyclops since its so bleching simple) Don't think I'm going to get this much better. So here it is. TRAITOR TOTS Nothing says middle class criminal like traitor tots! Vortigaunts Wanderingson (放浪息子) Actual reference picture: [ This character is a little bit special to me, not in some weird way like I love them or something. I just really identify with them. So I sprited them. Some random tiles Actual size free to use: Did this during a round: With sleeves preview: W/o sleeves preview: Properly sized sprites: Some stuff I am doing for the world server (I don't like their forums and want to keep this post going): What I've been working on. EDIT: I may take requests. Maybe, depending on what they are.
