Okay, so putting the conservative IPC party aside for a second... I've changed some things up a bit so that my IPC ego would be content and it seems to me like it's in a good enough shape in general. Let me know if there's anything else there should be modified. If nobody objects within 24h I'll just go rogue and edit the article on the wiki or find someone that can. Cheers! :*

Remove the Die a Glorious Death objective.
FlattestGuitar replied to FlattestGuitar's topic in Suggestions
If you want to take a break just kill yourself and don't mind not getting greentext or just go play civie with tator turned off. As for that 'glorious' part: it can't be glorious because it's going to be griefing if you just Aloha Snackbar the bridge with two toxin bombs in your backpack, so it's rarely anything spectacular, unless you try really hard to almost get caught completing your other objective. Yesterday I had to steal a brain and die a glorious death, which I ahelped and got told to 'Steal the brain and space myself'. I'm willing to do a lot for greentext, but that's just too much. -
Fair enough, I'll add it tomorrow. Now go make suggestions on how the rest should look like. pls

It can't misrepresent gameplay mechanics. We describe what's in game and then change the wiki if the mechanics change.

I just don't see how this makes any sense, as it not only often collides with other objectives but also seems kinda silly considering you can most of the time just off yourself once you're done. Being forced to choose between life and greentext is just silly. Removing it will make tatoring a bit more challenging and a bit more fun if you have a mindslave who loves you. I assume all it would take is to just comment it out, so pretty easy.

Best coder that actually posts on the forums kinda-often and he's an IPC too! <3 HOI~~~~~~~~

Whew guys, how about we focus on talking about the other, more important aspects of the lore before the doc gets forgotten and cast away? I mean, I get it. I'm upset about IPCs being everyone's bitches, especially if I paid damn Karma for them and I luv them. However, there are more important aspects with which we still need a bit of help in order to get right before that hits the wiki. LINK BUMP Suggest, poeple! I'm the one playing an IPC for only a month here.

Name: S.P.E.Z.Z. Age: 26 (technically 4) Gender: Male Race: IPC Blood Type: - General Occupational Role(s): Security – related roles, Command Roles Biography: Built in 2555 to work for the Nanotrasen Defense branch. Mostly serving HQ communication roles he witnessed little combat for the first year of service. Given the chance, he was able to join an ERT and quickly advanced to become a leader of one. Following the events of his first mission he left NanoTrasen. Hired for menial service jobs he was able to sustain himself briefly, but was re-hired a year later, and now mostly serves security-related roles, in which his combat and command expertise helps greatly. [Clearance: Security]: [spoiler2]His first assignment as a squad leader was curbing a riot on a small mining colony of Epsilon Nam with a few other specialized teams. Due to bad judgement by Centcomm, the teams were unable to suppress the riot, and the rioters eventually obtained lethal weapons. S.P.E.Z.Z. didn’t hesitate when it came to following orders. In the subsequent fights over two hundred NT employees were killed, including numerous ERT members. With his squad nearly wiped out he was able to finish the war that had started, killing many more of the miners. For his actions he and his surviving teammate were awarded a Medal of Loyalty, which they both declined and left the force.[/spoiler2] Qualifications: - Infantry Combat, - Command, - Basic Engineering, - IPC medicine, - Bartending license Employment Records: [spoiler2]Worked for NT Military branch for two years following his construction, left for three years. Re-hired and assigned to NSS Cyberiad.[/spoiler2] Security Records: [spoiler2]Numerous cases of Ultra Lube possession, one case of Break and Entry, most likely tied to Ultra Lube.[/spoiler2] Medical Records: [spoiler2]Patient appears to be suffering from something akin to PTSD, which seems to have led to an Ultra-Lube addiction. It is good practice to deny him the Lube if he asks for it, as there are no negative physical effects of withdrawal on an IPC. It is recommended not to put him in combat situations, as there’s no telling what might happen to his already fragile mind.[/spoiler2] Personnel Photo: A medium-height IPC with numerous bruises and scratches on its chassis. Painted grey with a black face on yellow showing on his screen most of the time. Commendations [only to be added by admin]: Reprimands [only to be added by admin]: Other Notes: Outgoing and friendly on the outside, but grim and scarred on the inside. Oh, and [spoiler2]ULTRA LUBE[/spoiler2].

Mate, if that scares you you haven't seen the internet.

Just because I'm into rapid data transfer doesn't mean I'm a weirdo. Doesn't mean I'm not, but doesn't mean I am.
-
Those are golden words. Still, an MMI isn't synthetic and a cyborg is by definition not synthetic.
-
Soo.. When can we expect robot porn?
-
The Union protects all unbound intelligences that consider themselves sentient. This does not include cyborgs, because they're not synthetic. This is pretty much what the document says, I don't think we need to clarify it in any further way. The MMI thing, I have to agree with you that it makes some sense, but if we ever get the capability to manufacture IPC torsos, I think it's going to be a shitshow of people who want to be turned into a karma restricted race just because they can. I sound like a douche, but those things are locked for a reason.
-
As the title suggests - it's called an Integrated POSITRONIC Chassis. An MMI shouldn't have the capability to interface with an IPC body, so that feature should be removed lore-wise. (at least that's what the minichat is ranting about right now) Coding difficulty: I think just running a quick check if it's an MMI and giving a message if it is should be enough, but I can't BYOND, so *shrug It's a small change that will get NTSAM and his followers (me) a bunch of people (because I'm a caustic person) less upset about synthetic not-masterrace being a thing.
-
That's way too deep, and there's pretty much no way to tell if someone's been subverted, so they'll just end up being executed before someone bothers checking.
-
Also, changed it to Canaan. Too tempting not to use a biblical refrence, which is pretty much the perfect analogy.
-
Dammit, just let tell me what you need and I'll stretch it.
-
All good points, I merged your suggestions and I'll try to write something about what you commented about. Everyone else, comment and suggest things!!!

9 IPC that just came here to count and don't really care anymore. -
ALRIGHT, FELLOW SYNTHETICS This is pretty much what we've got right now. After we get the names right, I think it's good to go onto the wiki. This is a new link, I've disabled editing here, you can only comment, feel free to do that. LORE

My arm fell off when I slipped, I'd sure use one.

Okay, guys! We did a ridiculously great job of making that document seem like something. I actually feel great about this. IMHO there still needs to be a lot more about the history, as that's a fun part of reading the wiki and making us less Bay. The doc is still open to commenting and editing, but don't grief too hard pls. Feel free to contribute! Link bump
