I would like to throw into this conversation that I was the borg who part of this scenario. I remember this rather well after you gave me that little recap there. I would consider myself one of the most capable security borgs on the station. People know my in game borg characters and I have often received compliments in OOC and LOOC for my borg strategies. In this case you were using a hand teleporter in a main hallway (if I remember correctly it was part of the hallway near a bridge door). You certainly were not hiding it... that is the problem here. You had an item like that and as you claim the captain gave it to you; in that case you should not be using the hand teleporter out in the open. As a borg I lack the ability to Shift-click to see what items were in your hands. The only reason I knew you had the hand teleporter is because you opened a portal. There are very few good reasons to open a portal in a primary hallway; most, if not all of them are related to impending death. In your case seeing someone without access to a hand teleporter using a hand teleporter in the main hallway, it was of course my decision to attempt an arrest. In the idea of your change; a Cargo tech is not the god of the disposals system. His job is simply to process what comes down. Before the use of the recycling machine it was his job to take matierials and put them into the autolaythe to reclaim the materials. Just because a laser rifle comes down the chute, that does not mean it is suddenly the property of the cargo department. When a high risk or value item is put in the disposals it should be returned to the appropriate department after announcing so over the radio.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls; this is the moment you have all been waiting for! Over the last few weeks I have been throwing out into OOC a handful of quality (mostly) game modes and event ideas. I have decided to put them here in a complete list for you all to see. Please sit back, relax, end enjoy. Group 1: Movie Inspired: 1.1) Indiana Jones Inspired: The round begins. Every member of the crew spawns in a grey tide uniform with black shoes. Nothing more. They spawn in a hallway that is 6 tiles wide and goes on forever in length. An announcement is given: "You have a 30 second head start". The crew starts to run down the large hall that goes on forever. Complete chaos as each crew member pushes past each other. 30 seconds later they see on the edge of their screens a level 4 singularity in hot pursuit. The question is not if they will die; the question is who will make it the furthest. 1.2) Power Ranger Inspired: The round begins as normal. The crew gets an announcement that a syndicate team is on route to attack! Soon after NT replies and says that they are sending in the station last hope! THE MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS! The syndicate are more than aware of this special NT division so they plan ahead. The Syndi bring along a small army of cult monsters to help fight! Will the RANGERS be able to hold them off? 1.3) Star Wars Inspired: A Human smuggler and his Vox sidekick land roughly inside the stations podbay. They quickly explain that they have secret plans and are being chased by the EMPIRE. After a short time a shuttle that looks surprisingly like the admin shuttle docks at the station. The doors are blown to bits with C-4 and a squad of syndi troopers rush in securing the hallway. From the smoke a dark figure walks out of the shuttle.... Tully steps foot into the station wielding a red E-sword. Who will escape the station with the plans? 1.4) Armageddon Inspired: NT radar is off the charts! They are detecting something entering the solar system. Officer Jenkin's wife is pissed that he is talking to some chick named ELE. The station springs into action as they see a huge ass meteor outside of the starboard window getting ever closer. There is only one thing to do... the miners must take the nuke to the rock, drill holes in it, arm the nuke, and save the station. Why the miners you ask? Do they actually know how to work a nuke? Why dont we send the captain or someone trained to do dangerous shit? STOP ASKING SO MANY QUESTIONS! Alright this has been the first installment of my fantastic ideas. Please stop by soon for more! Quakes72 Out!

Lets take a little look into how I picture this. (Real Suggestion Below Story) The fire alarms on the station flash with a red bar. The station-status displays fade from a smiling AI to a flashing message warning the crew of the stations newest threat. The Warden calls into his head set as he steps out of the armory with a shotgun in each hand. Officers line up in front of the desk fixing their helmet straps, tightening their armor clamps, and calibrating their HUD units. The officers are more than aware of whats happening; they know the time has come to put their lives on the line for the cooperation they serve. Breathless minutes go by as the HOS and Warden work to ensure the terrorist on the station is caught. A tip goes out over the general station Coms; the officers move into position against the wall outside the room. One officer hit the door access button and another is quick to throw a flash bang in. Seconds turned to minutes as the fuse on that grenade counted down. BOOM. The officers one by one turn into the room weapons already raised. Two rush to the terrorist who now lays on the ground holding his ears in agony. The sound of the metal cuffs snapping around his wrist gives a little bit of relief to the officers. The mission is over and the guns get tucked safely away into a pouch of each officers security bag. The prisoner, bag draped over head, is taken to the security wing. Once there he is strapped down to a chair and the mask over his face is removed. The HOS and the Warden look to each other talking quietly over what to do with him. The decision is made to lock him away in a cell with an implant. A specially designed tracking beacon that monitors a persons exact position is pushed into the flesh deep in his arm and he is roughly tossed on a bed to wait out his punishment. Finally the hour comes for his release and he steps out of his cell. He walks out of the brig without looking back and the shift goes on for nearly an hour, and then the tides take a turn for the worst. A massive explosion rocks the bar. First reports show that 4 crew are dead and 6 more are injured. The warden runs to his computer and looks at a blank screen. He doesnt understand; the implant in the prisoner is almost like its not there... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What I suggest here is an overall to the stations implants. Implants should be a valuable tool for the security forces on the station in terms of IC and they should allow for more interesting than the typical traitor gets locked in perma standard that we have now. Loyalty Implant: Rumor has it that this implant can cause people to go mad. Upon implantation the holder is suddenly forced into a deep love of NT... or at least they should be (see 2.1). The implant attaches itself to the the nearest major blood line making removal near impossible. This implant can be countered in a few ways: 1) Death: The implant may or may not use illegal methods to control its holder; therefore it self destructs in the event that someone with the implant's heart stops. Can this be used as an exploit of this implant? Only rumor knows. 2) EMP: Because of the implants already large size an EMP shield was not feasible. The system resets itself every 10 minutes but in the event of an EMP the holder's implant is offline for 10 minutes and during that time they are at risk to being converted. That point leads to the most terrifying draw back of this implant: 2.1) The downfall: The implant works by changing chemicals in the brain via electric pulses. This implant is the child of advanced science and not magic as rumor makes it out to be. In the event that someone is already extremely loyal to a cause (such as a cult or a Rev) then they will be driven into an even deeper love for their cause. In simple terms this means that someone implanted while still loyal to something other than NT will be immune to deconversion while they have the implant. Tracking Implant: This implant is designed for possible re-offenders. Once implanted the implant serves as a very advanced tracking system. It uses the holders pumping blood to produce the massive amount of power that it requires to broadcast and therefor will shutdown if the persons heart stops pumping even for a short time. This implant is an upgraded version of the old tracking implant; all security robots on the station are directly linked to it and with a push of a button from the wardens officer all security bots will attempt to track, located, and arrest the person holding the implant regardless of disguise (No more safety in maintenance). Well thanks for reading! Tell me what ya think!

@tzo Let us start this by saying your reply was beautiful. Really. A work of art. My issue with what you have said is how the heads of staff have currently no option but to demote their staff. If the station has one chemist, that chemist barks at the CMO just one two many times, then has to be demoted would make for a station without a chemist. Now you could argue that the CMO would have to take over for the chemist but what happens when the medbay is busy or a virus starts up and the station has no virology team. My point being that a head of staff should have something to threaten/punish his or her staff with other than just the idea of demotion.

After a long time of debating with the HOS, Warden, and IAA the clowns were not charged. We had all been playing that round following space law to the letter in the most literal way possible. We all at the beginning of the round decided via LOOC to see how that would work. Nothing the clowns did was considered illegal under the law. I have heard many of you on this post say to charge the clowns with assault for either the spam disarming or the kidnapping. While many officer and Heads of Security will do this it is not mentioned in our space law. People have to remember here when talking about the station law that you work for arguably the most powerful corporation ever. They have the right to charge you with EOC (enemy of the corporation, a law clearly made by someone on NT payrole), take you into security, and execute you without any worry of consequence. A company with that much power doesn't care if you think that security has too much power. A company like that would do everything they possibly could to make sure their stations run without disturbance.

So lets do this then. Give the Blueshield his fancy stun revolver, a shoulder holster, and a revolver with lethal shots. If you got the job of blueshield (RP wise) you are trained to handle a shit ton of different weapons. I think the biggest issue we could run into is that someone takes out the blueshield and has a lethal weapon. But that just adds to the game. And why not trial run this for a week? We do tons of debating when this could be as easy as throwing it into the next patch and removing it in the patch after. Its not going to break the game if we give that post a new toy or two.

I see that the pets are already covered but currently the law concerning dead bodies is a stretch. In order to charge someone for mistreating a dead person you would have to argue that the body is station property. I think we need a law covering that. Furthermore this law was recommended to me for this post after the player witnessed the HOS kill a xeno who was locked away in a xeno containment pen and was cooperating with the xenobiologist

Hello Everyone. Anyone who has played more than one round in the security department will realize that our current station law has many gaps in it. The interesting aspect of the security staff on the station is how each round the way the laws are seen and upheld are just slightly different. This aspect is a result of the space law in SS13 always requiring a bit of interpretation as to what crimes fit where and makes playing a Warden or HOS much more enjoyable. I want to begin with an experience I witnessed as a ghost that I feel clearly shows a gap in our servers law then I would like to suggest a handful of laws to get this in motion. The Gaps 3 Days prior to this post I observed arguably the biggest gap in our stations laws: >Security officer walking near the escape lobby >Two clowns rush to officer >Officer disarmed continuously by one clown while the other removes his head set and cable cuffs the officer >Clowns now have removed the officer's belt, headset, and backpack. >Clowns place all of the officers items into his back pack then put the bag back on his back (THIS IS IMPORTANT). >Clowns drag officer into maintenance near the old bar and proceed to honk him for over 10 minutes. >Clowns put officer in the corner of the old bar, lube the entire room, and leave him there to un-cuff himself. As I saw this go down I sent a message to the Admin staff online at the time describing the event. I received a rather alarming message from an Admin. He explained to me that the clowns (though on the verge of griefing) did no real harm and as a matter of fact managed to go without even breaking a single Space Law rule. They had not stolen anything from the officer because they put it all into his backpack and they had not caused him physical harm in any way. Is that scenario what we want our security staff to be forced to deal with? I think not Over the course of the last few weeks I have been collecting ideas and opinions on new laws. All persons who mentioned laws will remain anonymous for this post. Please note not all are mine (though I wish i could take credit for some of the great ideas) __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Disrupting Station Work Environment (Law would fit into both minor and medium and then anything larger is sabotage) Description: Any action deemed to have a significant hampering effect on station productivity. Example (minor): A Robotic Engineer refusing to share the robotics lab with the second Robotic Engineer Example (medium): An Engineer welding the doors leading to the bar closed (or the example with the officer above). Why?: This law will help security punish those crew who are causing problems around the station without having to wait for something large enough to consider sabotage (will also eliminate the security officer incident). These two laws are slightly less specific so that they may be used to cover a wider array of issues. Insubordination (Law would fit into the minor crime section) Description: Directly disobeying an order given by a valid commanding officer. Example: Captain orders that the CE returns from the engineering station to help with the needs of the main station and the CE refuses to return. Why?: This law will give the commanding staff a bit more of an ability to control the other members of their department and will allow heads of staff to punish staff members who fail to comply without going as far as a demotion. Insubordination With Consequence (This law fits into the medium section) Description: Directly disobeying an order given by a valid commanding officer which results in harm to the crew or station. Example: Officer 1 is ordered by the HOS to return his laser to the armory. The officer does not do so, is disarmed, has the laser stolen, and then the laser is used to kill the CMO. Why?: This law serves to punish crew more severely than normal Insubordination and helps to encourage crew to listen to the orders of their command staff. Abuse of Post (A medium law) Description: Using the powers or tools of one's job in a malicious way. Example: The HOP gives himself an all access ID card so that he may act as a security officer. Example 2: The Genetics lab gives out powers to random crew members without permission. Example 3: A cargo bay worker orders crates of weapons, gloves, and armor. Note: Currently "theft" covers this cargo issue but it should be changed so that this new law covers it. Why?: Security will now be able to enforce a moderate level of responsibility among the crew. This will help punish those who use their jobs in ways that they should not. Mistreatment Of Organics (a low [or maybe medium, not too sure] crime) Description: Damage or destruction of any non-malicious lifeforms. Example: The security staff kills Xenos that are locked inside the Xeno-bio lab. Example 2: Someone kills one of the many station pets without good reason. Example 3: Someone mistreats a dead body such as a Doctor leaving it in the hallway, a Robotic Engineer leaving it on the floor of the Robotics lab for an extended period of time, or a Doctor cutting a body apart to use things like its limbs without permission. Why?: This law helps to ensure the safety of everyone's favorite station pets and ensures that the bodies of dead crew members are properly taken care of.
