    Hi

So, 4 days ago, a friend of mine told me on google chat: "Heh, I had been checking out some video on youtube and forgot to shut it down. When I came back later to look at it, it had started playing something completely different. Some gameplay video from a game called Space Studio 13... or something.. looks seriously retro Think it looks like something you'd like. Space Station 13 it was." So I check it out. My thoughts go: "Byond? What is that?" Download and install. "How do I play? Hmm there's a wiki.. There are many wikis! .. Seems extremely complex.. Looks like I'll get banned if I screw up. Better practice first. How do I do that? Aha it's open source with branches from different versions... I get .. uhm.. this ntstation from github... Doesn't compile? Bah.. Maybe there's a mismatch between the build tools and code.. I try this one called tgstation instead that. Ah it works! Let's try this then..." So I spent a couple of days messing about solo in local play. Not very user friendly to get started with I'll have to say... Took me half a day to realize the power isn't running on the station when you start. Why the hell not? Well, guess it's part of the challenge. At first I thought the game was a persistent game with events happening, but later I realized (to my disappointment) it plays more like a time limited board game, only online and realtime. If you think of it that way, it's actually pretty nice. I followed some guide on the TG Wiki and set up the singularity generator and tried to get used to the interface in general so I wouldn't make a total fool of myself once I joined a server. I then started searching for noob friendly places that don't allow griefing and have some sort of RP-element and structure. Saw some posts on reddit where people expressed some very interesting opinions about different servers, but some server called Paradise Station seemed to be one of the ones that received the least amount of feces thrown its way. So.. Here I am. Some of you might have seen me online as "Leonard Greene". If I seem totally lost I'm not actually (only) RP-ing, it's that I'm just that noobish I've been playing for about 2 days now as civilian, psychiatrist (god, a bit too RP heavy, especially considering it's not THAT RP heavy here), janitor and miner. Oh, and hi. I'm from Sweden. Thought most of you would be, due to the forum URL, but no, so why is it .se? I'm a 41 year old unemployed (since october last year) C-programmer. One thing btw. This Karma system seems like a good idea, but how well does it actually work today? I fear it might be a way for people that know eachother to some degree to be more inclined to reward points to friends if they've done something good rather than to some unknown new guy. Not saying I deserve it, but I'm wondering if anybody is actually handing them out or if it was just a novelty and has fallen into the dark depths of peoples minds. I tried searching for "Karma" on the forum but apparently it's too common and can't be searched for, yet I can't find any informative posts about it, except on the wiki that doesn't really say much
