The whole point of the away mission is for the crew itself to do something, having a special job assigned too it (with overpowered gear no less compared too the rest of security) will cause two things, an away mission team doubeling as security+ as soon as they find out the away mission is the beach one or things like that. and secondly the away missions being taken by them instead of the crew who are supposed to prepare for an expedition like this etc.
  4. This has already been suggested in exactly the same way and it just wont work for the simple reason that an automated system can never take over the full job of a HoP + the fact that the PDA system would be very abuseable.
  5. Law 116 would mean that a security member who isn't following security protocol ( http://nanotrasen.se/wiki/index.php/Guide_to_Security ) can be brigged, if its followed there is no risk in this case. note that violent crimes still allow you to stun someone immidiately etc.
  6. I have tested the maximum sentence thing for a round today as HoS and it seems that it does pretty well at keeping both security players and players who get incarcerated happy

So we have space law in place for our security force to use I suggest switching to corporate policy, This because space law as it stands allows for security to stack sentences up to weird long ones (45 minutes for a few petty crimes) Corporate policy (courtesey of Hairy voodoo, Necaladun and Me) Is mostly the same with a few adjustments. Firstly there is the name which although I didn't come up with it seems much more like something nanotrasen would set up aboard their stations. Secondly there are a few change law wise a full transcript of the wikicode can be found here http://pastebin.com/ARkML3bf there are maximum total sentences on petty and medium crimes which also led to a change in repeated offenses. A very basic summary of this is that a criminal that only has minor crimes on their record can only be incarcerated for 15 minutes total. Medium crimes have similair rules but a higher maximum sentence of 30 minutes total. repeated offenses can be treated as breaking a law of the crime level above the repeated offenses commited, Therefor someone who commits multiple minor crimes after being brigged before can get a maximum stacked sentence of 30 minutes even though they only comitted minor crimes. Other changes furthermore law 116 "failure to follow security protocol" has been added as well as law 308 '''unauthorized or unlawfull execution''' These two laws would allow for security members to detain eachoter when shitcurity happens lastly there was a rework of law 113 and a slight rewrite of the intro.

  9. As stated manyvtimes before, making a player character that has unbreakable/no bones makes them overpowered and nearly unkillable due too the current combat system
  10. Aliens have a spawn point near arrivals which allows for some very meta situations by camping both the location where new players arrive and the location where ert members arrive

    Not entirely sure if I would be happy with teleporters, sure it allows for traitor shenanigans but probably a bit much seeing how they could teleport bombs to other places instantly with this stuff. About the code, I have no idea how to code this because im still very much a rookie. The thing is that machines are already coded in, wrapping is already coded in and so is the entire mail tagging system. Another thing i dislike about teleporters that it would basically negate the ENTIRE mail system we currently have and it would keep sneaky antags from abusing it (IE one of my funniest admin rounds consisted of murdering the HoS, getting a voice changer, asking for weapon crates over the radio in his voice, cutting open the disposals pipe and having guns delivered to me by cargo for free)

    well the large cargo/mining ones will obviously go over belts and be huge. The ones that package single items for departments could have a wall mounted version as well.

I want to try doing this suggestion as a side project at some point to see if I could code but looking at the wrapping and tagging code today it all seems a little complicated, Ill probably start with something easier and leave this to a real coder that knows what they are doing Currently we (never) use a system where you can only send things from a department too another department by searching for package wrapper, wrapping up your item and throwing it down disposals after notifying cargo to send it elsewhere Best case scenario your item arrives at its destination. Worst case scenario your precious mail goes straight into disposals to be crushed. I would like to overhaul the mail system a little using a few additions. Special packaging machines in departments that you can use to set a destination, the wrapping machine will take the item and throw it back out wrapped and tagged Difrent departments would get difrent coloured wrappings mockup medbay and security wrappers and mockup wrapping process. The cargobay would get a large package wrapping machine placed ontop of the belt coming out of the shuttle, This machine will wrap up entire crates and closets and tag them A second sorttype = 1 sorting machine just before disposals so any tagged items can bypass the delivery office (optional) An additional large package wrapping and tagging machine at the mining shuttle dock so miners can immidiately wrap up and tag their material crates (optional) give Heads a special command wrapping machine in their office that ofcourse wraps items in a special command coloured wrapper This will in the way i envision it create some ease between the departments. Engineer gets irradiated, the medbay can wrap up some anti toxins pills and send them Science got their stungun they so desperately want too research in one of those pesky lockboxes, Just send it too the HoS using their mail system and have the HoS send the unlocked stungun back. Cargo wants to send 5 crates to a single location with ease, Set the large wrapping machine too the correct destination and just let those crates pass through
  14. We have had mesons for the miners for ages now and they work fine to see the ore. I do not however like one of their aspects which is the fact that they light everything up I would like to see mining become a little scarier by giving miners and the research outpost crew asteroid scanners instead These goggles would work sort of like mesons, showing the ore and rock and other stuff, but they shouldn't increase the light level like normal mesons do. I made a mockup of what it should look like although the mockup might be a bit too dark mining scanners mockup As you can see the mine becomes a bit more ominous by doing this
  15. This is specifically not what I would like to see because it would just become a basic traitor round light, What i would like to see is a gamemode where the crew works together towards something withouth antags being there to stop their progress.
  16. this is never my intention. The project should be something normal that people can work on together if they'd like that. It should add too the roleplay and calm atmosphere of an extended round, not force people into hectic and tense RPless "you must do this" moments. Thats why i would also keep the projects from being combat based
  17. So we all know extended is there to give a more relaxed shift on occasion, that allows people to roleplay things that would otherwice be interrupted. This gamemode is however also considered to be one of the more boring gamemodes currently in the rotation, especially if they draw out too long. the idea: start the game off like a normal extended round and about 10-15 minutes in when most of the crew has done their setup, send the crew a cc message. this message should contain a goal of sorts that the crew can work towards as a team. These goals should not however be combat based or based entirely around a single department. a small list of goals: Delivery: a list of items gets delivered too the station. These should range from mining materials all the way up too things the players will really need too work for like an item from a z level beyond the asteroid and station. Or items that are very research heavy. Exotic pet care: A dangerous creature that has a chance to attack players if provoked is brought onto the station. This creature is the pet of one of the board members at centcomm and should receive propper care (needs to consume food and stay in a non hostike enviorment, dies otherwice) Station expansion/derelict repair: this would be more ficussed on engineering but mining and science could be very helpfull. The objective being to restore power too the derelict and make it slightly habitable or to just expand the station This list could be made longer but you get the point. Basically if a non combat event is done by the admins with success it could probably be addded here.

  19. Look I don't feel like dealing with this stuff right here, But ill explain my reasoning. At the start of the shift there was an OOC conversation about how atmos was no fun, I thought about atmos and how fun it actually was at times and wanted to do a fun project. Never having used the HE's I thought that that was a good place to start so we did and just after we finished those up you came running into atmos. Started screaming almost immidiately and then you began unwrenching pipes withouth even asking if you could because you didn't agree with or even allow any discussion to take place. My main plan was to connect a connector up to some piping to the north of the yellow portion of the pipes where there is an empty space so we would still be capable of filling tanks but I wasn't even given time to explain this. If you would like to discuss this further then please by all means, but not in this thread.

I feel like we are leaving one important power source out of here which are the solars Pros: - safe - can be directly wired into the grid withouth much trouble providing enough power for the station + a bit of a buffer which you can use to slowly charge all the smes units - not easily abused by antags -needs alot more wires to be cut before you can cut the entire station out of the solar power (engineering has two outgoing wires that you can cut to cut the entire station out of the engineering grid) Cons: -not THAT much energy -take longer to set up
  22. Yes, X3 albion prelude to be specific. I just love the look of the kyoto and the terran ships in general, I've already tried mimicking some of the ships in ksp but its hard due too the limited amount of things to work with
  23. Holy shit I built this plane in the picture with 1 mod and felt like i was being a bit cheaty by doing so.... the mod is being made into stock in the next version
  24. http://imgur.com/ZBCksZR,heF6uXk#1 so basically it was a xeno round, A bluespace event pulled the supermatter too the research part of the outpost, i found a rad suit and started dragging it around to see if we could utilise it somehow (also i was a vox and it was at this point my prized giant shiney posession) This was until some unknown miner came past, pushed me into the supermatter and vaporised me.... The fun did not end here however, my body gave a bit of energy too the supermatter which happily started turning it into radiation and heat, the asteroid being a vacuum meant that the supermatter couldn't cool and eventually it delaminated and caused what is depicted in the picture
  25. So I've seen quite alot of conversations about kerbal space program in the ooc channel and other places, why not make it a forum thread right.
