  5. Wait, what? Why were you refusing to cooperate on this? let the surgeon do what they need to do, sounds like he wasn't unreasonable to not deal with you, rude to just abandon you there though. You don't normally get to make demands of the surgeon while they're trying to perform surgery, especially if it's an ER situation. If they need to cut your clothes off, you don't really get to refuse if you want to be treated.
  6. The rule here doesn't apply to defending your items, only your life. So by that, you cannot use any damaging force against someone who has stolen items, you can only respond with proportional force in self-defence of your life. If someone has successfully stolen your items, what you should be doing is reporting it as theft to security. If someone is in the process of trying to take your items, you could try to disarm/trip or something to stop them, but you couldn't attack them.

An interesting thing I noted in the say code recently, was that it looks like it already checks if you have the vocal_cords organ before it will let you speak, which works separately to the Mute genetic trait. Mutadone wouldn't cure not having working vocal cords, though surgery could. Perhaps a solution would be to add the vocal_cords organ as an option you can set to be missing or replaced with a synthetic alternative at character setup,using the "Internal Organs" option that currently lets you set synthetic hearts and eyes. That way, the only code that needs to be added, is the option for character setup. Genetics/Mutadone works unchanged, and the already existing checks for vocal cords cover your disability.
  8. If you put someone in hospital with serious injuries because they slighted you somehow, you have broken the law and should be punished accordingly. That is disproportional use of force, if they use a high level of force against you, you can use a similar level of force to defend yourself, but if you react with excessive force, you are in the wrong. Revenge is never a reasonable excuse.
  9. The server is LRP because the playerbase is LRP. As long as you aren't a dick and follow the rules, there is no actual requirement to RP much to play on Paradise, it's not enforced/encouraged by the admins nor the game mechanics. Just look at the rules, Rule 2 is the only rule that really covers Roleplaying, and could pretty much be summed up as "no metagaming, IC in OOC, or silly names" as it doesn't enforce anything beyond those basic low RP concepts, and specifically says it doesn't enforce higher RP stuff such as expected level of knowledge for your role, Clone memory disorder, etc. At the end of the day, the players that play on the server decide what kind of server it is, enforcing more RP mechanics through rules/admins/code would mean upsetting and potentially losing a lot of the current players. As much as I love RP, I don't see being a LRP server as a bad thing, it's obviously what the players want, what the staff are happy with, and provides a fun experience for the many people that play here already. I think Paradise should just embrace being LRP and just remove any references to MRP, because that's clearly inaccurate at this point.

I've never seen anyone actually use the strange objects when I've been in science, most people seem to just churn out max tech levels by going through the same series of items that everyone does by rote. When you don't raise the tech levels to max within the first 10 minutes, someone (sometimes not even in the science department) comes along and shouts at you and takes over, because all that seems to matter is power-gaming max tech every round by the most efficient route possible. If I go and mess with stuff in the E.X.P.E.R.I.MENTOR, none of it really contributes to tech levels, because someone else will have gone and maxed them in the small amount of time it takes to do so. Also, I think I've seen a Scientist send back Tech disks with research maybe once ever since I've been playing here, and i started out playing Cargo a lot. So no, I don't think the station can really be thought of a research station IC, because little research ever seems to happen, just going through the motions so that all the most powerful gear is available to take on the antags. Most of the current station goals become essentially an extra burden for the engineering department to tackle in between repairing shit when the bombs start going off, and more often than not they just don't get built, because engineering has too much to repair already. There definitely needs to be more alternatives that take less time for engineering to set up, but then take more time for a mix of the other departments to really complete, more along the lines of the DNA vault, just quicker to set up initially.
  11. The PR I currently have submitted for this, works this way. Doesn't work if you can't see, have to have both hands free (and both functional), and obviously, people "see" it even if they can't hear. Though, can't sign when stunned and such, or restrained, stuff like that. The only things i've got left to add to it, is changing the range drop-off, so from further away it acts more like whispering, you can make out they're trying to sign, but can't make out all of the words clearly. And maybe some sort of mixed up words if drunk, or clumsy, etc.

  13. I was the first Brit that got downed when we assaulted the bridge, pretty sure it was you that took my legs out. I had to be dragged around after that point, I ended up detonating my microbomb in the HoP's office as the rest of the team fell to Mechs.

  16. I don't think Psychologist should be removed, it has potential to be fun, but at the moment, it rarely has the ability to be. It's always going to be a RP heavy role, but it could be afforded more opportunities to RP the role. Psychologist probably shouldn't be based out of the Medbay, you'd rarely be interacting with injured patients most of the time, i'm of the opinion that Psychologist would be better suited being near to Security, and more a colleague to the Brig Physician. With the role's primary purpose to interact with the criminally insane, assess their danger to the station, and perhaps try to rehabilitate in some cases.
  17. I had a further look at the code, and decided to try my hand at implementing this, figured it was a good way to start contributing and learn how things are structured. Made the change, set up a local server instance of Paradise, tested my change, and then submitted a Pull Request to Github. https://github.com/ParadiseSS13/Paradise/pull/6315 Was recently merged yay. I've a few ideas of other things to implement, minor things that wouldn't affect gameplay any. I'll study the code more and possibly make further suggestions to see how people feel about them.
  18. The Vending Machine in Mr Chang's doesn't hold a lot of food currently, and has no way of being refilled unlike a lot of other vending machines. To allow more use of Mr Chang's (potentially for players to remodel to turn into a fully-fledged takeaway) it would be great if this vending machine could be refilled by using a refill canister, either included as part of the Snack refill crate from Cargo, or as a separate crate, whichever is easiest. From a quick glance at the code, i'm assuming this would be a straightforward change, that could open up creative use of that particular part of the Dorms.
