Fiber Garrote Wire fixing suggestion
EldritchSigma replied to bigfatbananacyclops's topic in Suggestions
Aggressive grab is resistable I think. The Neckgrab (red grab) is not normally. The fiberwire garrot is supposed to apply a neck grab (red grab) which can be instantly reinforced to a choke grab (red flashing grab). The cheaper homemade version provides an aggresive grab (blue grab) which can instantly be reinforced to a neckgrab (red grab) without the muting gimmick. Either way, this item is very overpriced considering you need your target in complete isolation and it takes about 20 full seconds to suffocate it. If you have to kill a scientist... chances are you are found when using it. However for targets like the Chaplin or Psychartrist this item is *drops a carving* very good. -
Fiber Garrote Wire fixing suggestion

The Resist on a a choke hold is surely a bug. Never used it but its supposed to kill/choke hold your victim and supress any form of communication (except Telepathy) they can pull off. Havent heard that it makes the noise... but it seems very underwhelming for 12 TC especially since people might be able to resist out of it while a normal grab with kill intent (hard to pull off) cannot be resisted. Its really shitty... -
I much rather have a way to decide which character gets Antag if I roll antag... or at the very least being able to decide which Characters can turn into which antags.

Heres Thalis update on how to get the other departments to do what you want (or not which results in you doing nothing at all but egoistic scichem fun) (slight cynism ahead, try holding it with both hands): First: Make sure you tell them that you dont do half deeds and they either help you aqquire those items or nothing gets upgraded at all and Science becomes a second Botany just doing shit. If they dont cooperate simply do not work. They will eventually when people start to realize how annoying it is to work with unupgraded equipment. I call this "Thalis Shitter RnD Scientist Method". They either get you the items no questions asked or you simply dont do the work, because why bothering doing half things when you could complete the job. The Autolathe gets delivered by engineers for the most part which I am quite suprised with. If not, print it ASAP and set it up. Or break into Techstorage, get the board and steal some gloves aswell for the effort you had to do. Get a dedicated Sci-Chem guy to message the QM every 2 minutes telling him to order 2 machine prototypes. He will eventually. Or he will turn his PDA off. If thats the case hope the Sci-Chem guy is a traitor and buys the Detomatix and gets him to turn the PDA on (oh that was sarcasm, the detomatix part). For Ambrosia Gaia. Go into botany which is more often not occupied than it is occupied, hack the seed vendor there with your autolathe items and steal ambrosia vulgaris, glowshrooms, tomato and chilli seeds. If some botanist is growing weed and asks you what you are doing tell him to either fuck off or be actually friendly and say "I need this for RnD." which is your new standard excuse for breaking into things. Now go back print botany tools and setup a couple trays in scichem. This is important do it in scichem or you get annoying greytide asking you for dank ass weed which they can aqquire from botany which doesnt do anything other than that most of the time. Oh by the way dont you dare and forget the Nettles. You can make deathnettles with that which is a robust melee weapon and I think it gave Combat 5 aswell. Now then onto botany: Make like... 100 units of mutagen... 100 units of Diethylamine and get buckets for that. Probably more. Fill the plants up with mutagen till they mutate into your desired plants. Keep them well with Diethylamine and deweed them with the cultivator. Dont give a fuck about other plants they mutate into. Just keep adding mutagen till you get Ambrosia Gaia (from Ambrosia Deus from Ambrosia Vulgaris), Ghost Chilli (From Chilli), Glowcaps (from Glowshroom) and Killer Tomatoes (From Tomatoes duh). Dont throw away bluespace or blue tomatoes though. They are very robust items. Blue Tomatoes slip and bluespace tomatoes teleport people. Very good nonelethal defense. But really. Dont give a damn about other mutations, they are not of interest. You are a scientist, not some weed growing chainsmoker. Except deathnettles. Cause you need muh powergames. Now then. You got the botany part done by yourself by simply breaking into a mostly noneexistent department. If it is existant tell them to make you the items you require, bribe them with 3 buckets of mutagen and later a chem dispenser like Thali usually does to get Deathnettles. Onto the next thing: Cargo: Do not upgrade their shit until they gave you 2 prototypes. By their shit I mean any shit. Do not upgrade anything until you get the boards. Either the QM is decent and orders them for you or you have to ask them. If he denies you or sends you to the HoP to do some shitty paperwork for essential items: Simply dont do RnD that shift. And redirect all complains to the QM forcing you to do unnecessary paperwork. Remember you are a Scientist, not some bureaucrat. For Security: They want their toys. Really. They want their toys... tell the warden/HoS that you need a combat shotgun to get the really good stuff. Usually they comply because you give them toys to play with. Beneficial for both sides. Havent seen any trouble from them so far. I mean they watch you putting the Combat Shotgun into the lathe and then you can directly print some fun stuff for them too. Also implants are alot cheaper once upgraded so you can mass produce like 30 of them. And then realise you only got 10 people in sec. Then you get combat 6. Guess what? Xray-Laser. Print. That. Shit. Get Illegals to 2. Then... well get a diamond and make a Tyrant AI Module. Dont upload it via Upload board. Think it should still give you illegals 3. Then you can make E-Crossbows for sweet ass illegals 4. Then Thermals. Check if it got changed to yield illegals 5. Else cry security a Riven if they come and ask you to make sexy adrenalin and freedom implants caus you cant anymore. Check anyhow if you can make freedom, they might yield illegals, gotta check on that. Edit: Nope illegals are a thing of the past except you are a filthy traitor or get the HoS somehow to get you an illegal item or you find a high tier maint loot illegal item other than the toolbox. Without help max illegals you get is illegals 2. However if you are good you can smuggle a combat shotgun out. Also there are some other ways to avoid stuns or reduce the stuntime. Hehe. That should be done within 1h into the shift. Upgrades (femtos etc) can still be done by 30 minutes provided you know how to botany and how to break into botany to get the desired seeds. Its really just more tedious and annoying. The time is the same if you get routine... Oh and you get deathnettles because you got a cheap excuse to make them. "I need this for RnD" is the new meta (as in most efficient tactic aviable) excuse for breaking into other departments and taking shit. I am serious. This works. Its as good as the "A changeling did it" excuse when caught as a Traitor without your gear. Well atleast engineering delivers your autolathe right away most of the time. If not steal some multitool or take the one in scichem. If its taken yell over comms that you need it for RnD. If they dont comply backtail into cargo, print it, ignore the furious QM for breaking his paperwork bullshit Queue and go break into the tech storage. Get the board. If caught just get the board and say you need it for RnD. If they dont comply or even *gasp* detain you dont do RnD and do Scichem or toxins. Redirect all complains to the people keeping you off of work. Heck you could even ask the AI to open it. If on crewsimov say that doing RnD without an Autolathe hurts your brain and will conflict with its law. If its on corporate tell it that you wont do RnD at all without the board thus causing expenses to the station and the AI because borgs wont get upgrades. And if noone is watching and you break in... take some gloves while you are at it. You deserve them. After lots of thinking I came to the conclusion... RnD is alot more lifelike. You get to yell at people because they simply dont get what you are doing. You get to yell at people for being in your way. You get yelled at for stealing mundane stuff which you need for some kind of experiment (I need this spoon to stirr my Reaction because I lost all my stirers.). And if people are in your way you simply do not do your job till they see the influence of you not doing your job. Which is far bigger in this game than in reality. Is the new RnD good? No. It still sucks and it still results in Thali doing more Scichem than anything else and going for the cheeky last second kills if traitor. Or just doing RnD till syringe gun and crewmonitor and pumping the targets full of sarin or something cause all scientists are filthy powegamers and dont RP with their targets or just straight up kill them early and gib their body. And instead of chembombs for explosives using toxin bombs if I feel like it cause I am a filthy science powergamer according to some. But yeah bet there is some way to avoid most forms of "cooperating" with other departments. Just needs to be found.

Please do so, also include the kleptomaniac scientists which steal all the shit they can for tech levels which is apparently now a thing. -
I would appreciate this too, I havet this strange mentality of always going stealth on my "snoflek" cause else people will search her more often and all that nonesense. I went loud yesterday cause I had to and it was fun, but I dont want Thali to go loud everytime because that doesnt fit her and its muh snoflek. So uh yeah I totally agree to that if it would be a character option.

Excuse my rather emotionally infused reply but here we go... So I got this right? You want to remove an entire gamemode because you dont like it and not even bother attempting to balance it but WANT to add the singlehandingly most broken item into the list of traitor items for one of the most common roles? I saw entire stations cleared out with this bullshit item and you want MORE people to have access to it? Heck no... Removing shadowlings because they are "not balanced" and keeping wizards in and even giving them a declare war mode? It doesnt matter that much for a wizard if they know that the Crew knows of them. Sure there are gimmicky stealth builds but a war wizard results in the same like war ops... people rushing to cryo because they do not like wizard. Yeah... we could remove all the antags because they have balancing issues sure and just play with traitors and maybe vamps and maybe lings. Wait... some people dont like lings either because of their shitty retrovirus sting and the permadeath by absorption cause medbay mostly doesnt transfer the brain. We might want to remove changelings, ops and wizards aswell. Especially wizards cause its unbalanced and antifun for anyone but the wizards and dchat. And rarely security. Alot of people dont like to get horseheaded by wizards. And I mean by alot actually quite alot. Yet this spell is still ingame cause some people like it... cant we uh just get along with the gamemodes we have now and as they are? Back to the telegun: Seriously... telegun aviable for more people... even if it would cost 20 TC it would still be broken as fuck considering how easy it is to use... and how anti fun it is if you are target of a Telegun user. Heck I had more fun getting blown up by a maxcap plasmabomb. Atleast that leaves a crater and showed some effort of the person by either getting up fast, throwing it and getting the hell out or by hiding it somewhere very well and waiting for me. Telegun is just: Zap... gone. Permadead. Its not fun whatsoever for anyone but the telegun user. Oh and explosives give Engineering something to do atleast... Telegun doesnt do that either. Sure you can setup the beacon into the burning chamber of the plasmalab... and then after its disabled the Telegunner just switches to abadoned druglab filled with hot N2O and either waits for the targets to die from suffocation or from burns while not being able to do anything if they are not wearing a spacesuit and got gear to get out of the lab fast. Have seen that actually happen once... not fun... About more Antag Restrictions: Its really fine as it is I believe. Sure it sucks to be killed 10 minutes into the round but rarely those bodies dont get recovered. We should instead crack down on the single individuals doing that by using inavoidable methods (Telegun, Gibsmoke) instead of punishing everyone including the Clown named Chainsaw Wielding Idiot who just saws down the 2 targets, takes their heads as trophies and never disposes them but rather keeps them when he gets inevadeably caught by Sec. A Chainsaw Wielding Idiot is more fun than someone telegunning you or revolvering you and using a microbomb on you 3 minutes in. But still I feel restrictions are hard enough and well enough enforced. About the last thing I have in the quote ... all of my yes I hate janiborgs slipping everyone on a wizard round... or janitors doing the same on fucking purpose...

"JOERGE MWERLINS IS GRIFFING ME HALP." and "SPESS MEHREEENS!" is like if Joerge Mwerlins being ingame and a changeling and absorbing immersion though. More disabilities would be nice though.

I totally agree to this. This speed update is the worst thing that has happened in a couple months. You get one gene from genetics and you are godlike if your opponent doesnt have that gene either. There is virtually no way arround this currently and this cannot be intended to be like that. Please revert the change or fix that...

I am all for more race diversity, and those changes would make sense after all. Except that gag reflex thing, that sounds lewder than it should.

Hello there, havent seen your Character so far. Edgevulp Thali here.

Oh damn that one looks nice. I like the glow effect on his eyes. I kinda imagine Thalis eyes glow like this whenever one of the shadowlings possess her to talk through her.

I am not sure on borers relaying information about Antags... Thats kind of a dickish move to do to be honest, especially if said antag has done his deed and just needs to escape alive. Have observed that multiple times now. Also There are so often borers who just kill their host or bring them in exceedingly dangerous situations which does not help the borer nor the host. From what I understand borers are more or less symbiotic or at the very least parasites with benefits. They use you to breed, yes. They use you to live. But they keep you alive whenever you are in danger by excreting chems. I think its more an issue with the player mentality than with the borers themself. I have had 6 borers so far. 3 were utter assholes who did following: In Sec: - Stunned people when me being sec to "propagate", - Set me on fire - Set other people on fire - Detonated random Welding Fuel tanks - Pulled my flashbangs and threw them in a crowd -Flashed random borgs. - And assuming they know the resist timer they moved as far away from surgery and vendors as physical possible to avoid removal and start the whole deed again. Its not fun. Not at all. Its fun for the borer on cost of other people. In Science: - Hitting people with my stunprod, cuffing people with cable cuffs - Printing a Sonic Jackhammer and disintegrating walls - Making bad grenades. Really bad ones. As in they didnt even work. Good experiences with borers involved: - Getting them to help me out in dangerous situations - Advising me on how to handle things - Keeping an eye out for slippery spots - Keeping an eye out for people who stalk me - Rping (One made Thali think that Stuart is a clown, that was fun) - And even making Thalis Retard Repellant and Stunprod obsolete due to ultra meth speed at will. - Assuming control and subverting Thali in a none silly way. So borers who actually do what they are supposed to do are fun. People need to get out of that hunter seeker mentality of borers. If thats restricted by rules or something they will get better hopefully.

How much TC is it exactly and how many uses does it have? I know first hand how annoying and powerfull it can be when used on you. At the same time if you have to give up your objective as a traitor to the chaplin traitor just get a pinpointer and let it lock into the item they took (e.g captains laser) for that your character knows he had it, memory loss he doesnt have it. If you see the chaplin then you can RP the memory loss a little, but probably ends in him wololoing you again and telling you to move into the incinerator. Could need a nerf... or specifically say that you still have basic self preservation instincts on it so you dont get to kill your targets for almost free with this thing. Also it should have a message when mindcontrol wears off, its too easy to frame someone for a crime while under the influence of the Wololo. You could tell your target to murder some random jerk and get him executed and never cloned that way...

While in theory this idea sounds good it might turn out bad in practice... for instance behind each character is a person. Most persons tend to get fairly iffy when they have to spent some form of currency... lets say antag tokens are a currency... people will get mad if they get "powergamed" by the "damn powergamey AI" for instance right now... now imagine if people spend tokens on that just to get caught 5 minutes in because some AIs got nothing better to do then watching someone 24/7 for instance. It has quite the potential to cause drama. I think that those tokens would only encourage powergaming. It would also increase the likehood of people doing karma trading or other things to cheat the system. Not quite fond of it with the potential cons buyable Karma Tokens have to them...

So gas masks obfuscating vision? Sounds fine with me. I mean I have to wear a gas mask frequently IRL due to my job and I can tell you... its not a pleasant experience at all. While its not making you nearly blind it severly reduces your perception you have. Its like you have a much more narrow field of view. And the harder it is for you to breath when wearing one the harder it is for you to see. Also... lets talk about filters... IRL gas masks have filters... some filters are even highly specialized for certain envirements. For instance there are filters for biological hazards and filters for corrosives (Acid and Base Vapors, Mustard Gas etc). And then there are filters for toxins (Sarin, Tabun, HCN, HF (which is also fairly corrosive)). Heck we even have a specialized filter for Mercury compounds... Anyways depending what filter you use you either have less trouble breathing through the mask or more. The filters for neurotoxins for instance are in particular very nasty and hard to breath through. So if possible we could make the vision you loose when wearing a mask depending on the filter catridge being used (I think thats called sensory dulling). Also you would need to swap catridges depending on the situation. That means in terms that breath masks wont protect you (fully) from vapors, giving people a reason to put on a mask if a threat is there. Also Traitors (or shitters) could remove the filter catridge to only loose a little bit of their vision and insert it when its required. One last thing I experience personally whenever wearing a mask, some other people do too... when you wear one your hearing sense is impaired aswell in some way, probably has to do with the fact that your most important senses (vision and smelling) are severly hindered. Some people turn deafer when wearing a mask, some people get very sensitive to sounds. Really depends on the person.
