Echoing something @McRamon said. When comitting crimes as an antag, if the situation allows, use a more "greytide approach" to doing things. If you break into the captains office with an emag and get caught, perma for you. If you get caught hacking the doors with common tools, worst you'll get is major tresspass and your tools taken (IF you haven't already stolen the unique item). Don't carry contraband that can get you perma'd unless you are committing an act that will get you perma'd anyways.

I just don't see the point of making things even harder for new players. I don't underatand how this change would enhance the rounds for anyone but a trigger happy chaplain. Neca has explained how you can work around this IC. Its never gonna be the permanent change you are aiming for so keep argueing till your fingers fall off. Good luck ?
-
Whether you want to call it meta or not it doesn't disprove my point. This change would cause experienced vamps to make sure they make more of a point to eliminate the chaplain due to them being a larger threat, and it would make inexperienced vamps lives even harder. This change would not enhance vampire rounds. If you've seen rounds where the chaplain was hunting cultists then you and any observers failed to report valid hunting. While admins are capable of seeing everything, they are not omnipresent. Or you weren't aware of the stuff that may have been happening behind the curtains. You don't know if the chaplains were bwoinked or banned for doing so. Many people do many things that they aren't supposed to do frequently, and you'll frequently find them falling SSD with no hope of recovery. Just because you've seen someone break a rule doesn't mean you are allowed to do it.

We already have a problem with vampires being meta and disposing of the chaplain early to make it difficult to get holy water. Making the chaplain even more of a threat will make this worse. That + echoing everything @tzo said. Also never seen a chaplain fighting against cultists. They might get caught in the thick of things while trying to get rid of runes but I'm pretty sure a chaplain actively fighting cultists is valid hunting as well.

@1999hundred what are the smudges in the top left and what is on your non comms ear.

I wasnt saying greytide lighting themselves on fire would ruin anything. I think it'd be more amusing then them beating themselves to death. I pointed out the try hards cuz that is a problem with many of the games features that have either been watered down, removed, or never added.
-
Would also lead to alot of nekkid people running around during fires. *screm Come to think of it, if this existed, I'm fairly positive a new way of greytide killing themselves would be to light themselves on fire and run around nude and on fire till they cease to function rather than the traditional russian roulette or caving thier own skull with a tool of choice. But ya that being said. Try hards would begin to frequently spam meme chems that involve fire in order to render thier opponents armor useless. This is why we cant have nice things.

Skip charcoal and salbutimol. Thier more effective counterparts dont take much more effort to make, and honestly take less time in the long run as both require much smaller doses to do the same amount of work. Pentetic acid and pfue...pfee...pfruel...the fucking oxygen loss patch with a terrible long name. And don't make it a damned pill or people will get addicted to it.

Trying to figure out how to mime out complex things through emotes and it being difficult to understand them is what makes being a mime enjoyable. If anyone thinks otherwise its because they are boring and lack creativity. It doesn't even matter if a mime can't get the message accross in an emergency. They arent command, they arent security, thier communication is in no way critical to the function of the station. If they can't deliver the message in a fashion where it can be understood, it wasn't meant to be known. The purpose of the mime and the clown is to, in an IC way, remind us this is a game, its SUPPOSED to be entertaining, and stop being so damned serious. If you care so much about what is going on that you cannot realize another round starts in less than 2 hours, knock it down a peg or two.

I really don't think we have a major or even minor problem with people obtaining useful meta knowledge while they sleep. Also if you knew who was attacking you before falling unconcious there is no rule against you screaming "SO AND SO ATTACKED ME" when waking up. Even if you are killed by them and cloned. So long as you saw who they were before dying. Not the best sport but its allowed. Just like kidnapping can be fun if the victim plays along instead of screaming "HELP SCI MAINT" on comms immediately. As with most things in this game, it doesn't require game mechanics to make it better, how people PLAY can make it better. Thats what makes Spess so special.
-
Easy solution? Would you also suggest people cant see anything as a ghost? Because if someone is a ghost and gets cloned they could in theory use meta knowledge gained as a ghost...which again...would be breaking the rules... This game would not be nearly as interesting to a large chunk of the playerbase if you couldn't watch what was happening when you are dead. If we "fixed" every single feature that people were capable of abusing we would have to remove an absurd amount of content from the game and it would be extremely vanilla, most likely unplayably boring. The features that can be abused is kept in check by the community, the admins, and the rules.

I think its an appropriate name

A mixture of coffee (caffine), a twinkie (sugar), and a cigarette (nicotine) makes you have the stun resistance of meth for 10 seconds for each twinkie consumed. I refer to this as "ghetto meth"

Draw a hell of alot better than I ever could.

Coming from a sec main, maint is the only safe place antags have for the most part, restricting thier maint access while not restricting secs access would hurt antags wayyy too much. I think the alert levels need more of a rework than maint access does, but thats a whole nother topic that regularly gets kicked around.

I think Necas point was theres nothing different between being killed by disintegrate, fireball, or any other spell that instantly kills you or being cluwned and killed that way. You are dead regardless. Its just a different method. Some people just seem to get angrier about dying by becoming a cluwne for some reason. Or maybe the same people just get pissed regardless of how they die. Dunno. I'd much rather be cluwned so it ay least gives someone else to do whether they beat me to death or pointlessly attempt to save me.

Everyone has game modes they dislike. I'd love if cult didn't exist but I also understand that not everyone hates it as much as I do and plenty enjoy it. Can argue what is good and bad about every game mode based on your preferences. There is not a single game mode that is unanimously liked or disliked. Wizard is fine as is. At least it ends quick when the antag sucks, unlike some other modes.
-
People have gotten banned for acting antag like as literally every single job on the station. That was my point. Same thing would happen if someone playing this role breaks the rules. Having IC justification for breaking rules doesn't give people the right to, and plenty of people break them without IC justification. If someone is dumb enough to think they can use this role as a means to subvert the rules then they'll be dealt with promptly.
-
I agree with making it roundstart only. Doesn't make sense for a perma prisoner to just appear in perma mid round. Could argue that anyone can take any role and make it antaggy. Rules exist and are enforced for everyone in every role.
