  1. Stop trying so hard. I used to try really hard as sec all the time. Led to alot of long boring rounds. Allow something interesting to happen. Mostly only newbie antags make stupid mistakes that make them easy to catch, give them a chance to play and learn without using every trick in the book to end thier round.
  2. Related note: If anyone sees security or is a victim of sec using excessive force unnecessarily, ahelp it... Long before I became an admin, another admin told me "While we are capable of seeing everything, we are not omnipresent. Report stuff in case we missed it." I like to echo this cuz its true. We can't correct bad behavior if we are unaware of it. There is ALOT going on every round that we need to try to keep an eye on.
  3. You literally aren't supposed to be killed as an antag unless you are KOS for being a known dangerous killer or are uncobtainable (changeling, full powered vamp, etc). Security frequently puts antags who don't fall under that description in perma. I've played hundreds upon hundreds of hours in security and I've definitely seen security perma far more antags than they've killed, so saying they just kill most antags is entirely false.
  4. The more slack we cut the more players abuse it. It will not reduce admin workload it will just lead to more excessively abusive behavior that will still have to be addressed. We already have a problem with security failing to discipline thier own for severely beating prisoners or illegal executions. If we allowed stuff like that to happen even MORE without admin intervention what posseses you to believe security will suddenly start being more responsible IC? We already rarely see officers brigged for assault when its appropriate or given perma for manslaughter or murder when they illegally execute someone or unnecessarily kill someone with excessive force. Honestly if these things WERE handled IC then admins wouldn't get involved. We would PREFER they are handled IC. THAT would reduce admin workload. If people are worrying if thier actions will possibly lead to them getting banned then it means the rules are serving thier purpose. They are there to make you think and be accountable for your actions.
  5. Nobody has posted here for a few days, so I'm setting it back to zero but also getting it moving again. GET TO WORK!!!
  6. @AceWhite27 Metagaming in the sense of breaking the rules would be obtaining information about the current round from an OOC source. What you are experiencing with the pensword would be known as using meta knowledge which isn't against the rules. As Moxie mentioned, there aren't any rules on the server restricting antag knowledge; knowledge of thier equipment/capabilities. Each player has to decide for themselves how much they will allow their character to know. IMO some people do go overboard with it (I'd personally never check if your pen is an esword) but some sec players kind of have a scorched earth search everything mindset cuz they HAVE to defeat the antags >.> Its not breaking a rule and doesn't need to be ahelped tho. So some meta knowledge to help YOU! I'm pretty sure the pensword can replace the pen in your PDA. I dont know of any sec who check the pen int he PDA ever. Good luck!
  7. start my doing one of Tetris
  8. It somewhat looks like Jonah may have a super long robotic arm they are wrapping around Zeke and placing on his head ?
  9. Which game modes are fun and which aren't is entirely subjective. I can find different people who either enjoy and hate every single game mode who can give elaborate arguements for both sides. That's why we have a variety of game modes.
  10. I think I'm finally gonna learn how to make explosive lances now. Leave it to McAllister to have a solution for dealing with carpire. Good stuff lol
  11. Certain gamemodes cannot be run unless there are enough admins on, rev is one of them. It's not as bad as Nations but it can get quite out of hand in a hurry.
  12. Your all a bunch of alcoh0lics
  13. A'dawwwww...nostalgia :') The good ol days
  14. I made a promise to @Benjaminfallout that I'd leave this thread alone a week, I kept my promise, but I've been counting down the days and finally reached ZERO.
  15. People who love easy mode use carpire. I could give an inexperienced player carp n full powered vamp and they would have a hard time getting out robusted. Then people will shower praise on them for being super robust. Theres a difference between being robust and abusing game mechanics as much as possible. People often mistake the latter for being robust.
  16. I personally mostly see slings win. Any time I see them lose its mostly due to inexperience. Slings are my favorite conversion antag cuz its essentially like a quicker and louder cult. I find sling rounds that turn into a nice tug of war match between thralling and dethralling to be some of the most exciting rounds, tho admittedly few and far between. Due to the quickness of converting and deconverting these rounds have a tendency to swing one way or another rather than feel balanced. I don't think this can be fixed through changing game mechanics though. Its really just a matter of who is more experienced on both sides. Be careful what you wish for. Currently how ascension works forces a shuttle. If they didn't become an unstoppable god from ascension there would be no reason to force an unrecallable shuttle and you'd risk some sling rounds turning into the same as wizard rounds where the wizard has eliminated anything that could threaten them and just continuously recalls the shuttle because they want to play more, to the detriment of the massive amount of dead players...and in this case a bunch of thralls lurking around with nothing left to do.
  17. I didn't say this was easy. I've personally been playing like this since long before I was part lf the staff. I don't think that necessarily makes people care about my opinion, to some players I'm essentially now the equivalent of one of thier parents or teachers who they don't care to listen to either. I also don't get insulted by some kid who validates thier existence through video games poking fun at me. I could try super hard n use every trick in the book kick ass if I wanted to as well. If they are dumb enough to think my IC ignorance or deficiencies aren't on purpose then it kinda shows where thier head is at. Even if my actions only inspire one other person to try n make this game a little more interesting I find it to be worth it. Plus I just quite simply have fun playing this way. I'd be bored to tears and long gone by now if all I did was obsess over the games mechanics and winning.
  18. I don't have a problem with officers patrolling anywhere early because its thier job. I do have a problem with them being inherently suspicious of people 4noraisin. If I run into someone when Im patrolling maint on green I just say hi to them, maybe try to have a friendly convo, n keep walking. I dont search or even examine them. This gets me wordlessly killed regularly, as I've pointed out, there are assholes on both sides of this issue. The bad behavior on both sides promotes the bad behavior on the other side. A case of what came first, the chicken or the egg. Also as I previously said. Unsolvable problem. We have to live with it. The most you can do is make sure that you yourself do not get sucked into the same bad habits. Be the change you want to see and others will follow suit. Thats all we can do. Its why I'll continue getting wordlessly killed when striking convos in maint. Its worth it for the times I don't get killed and it turns into something more.
  19. Ya echoing Wolf. One of the best ways to combat this behavior is to shame it IC. I regularly tell sec officers who do the "theres always more than 1 antag" or "something bad always happens" that they are paranoid n should go visit the psych. Shame other players for failing to react to snapping thier finger off, or seeing someone die in front of them, or explosions, etc. Just shame people for reacting to things that would realistically be awful to experience or see. When people are acting unusual IC I'll be like "What the hell is wrong with you? Do you think this is some kind of video game?" Some people forget or simply dont know/care that per the lore, there is an indefinite amount of boring shifts where nothing goes wrong between the ones we play in, and the ones we play in are just one of the shifts where something went wrong. From OUR perspective as the player something always goes wrong, but in the spess universe that is not the case.
  20. On the other side you also have antags who speed run the gateway, syndie outpost, and gather whatever supplies they need to give them an edge within the first 10 min of a shift and use all the meta knowledge of hiding spots and whatever else every round. Guess I'm just pointing out the behavior exists on both sides. I don't approve of it in either case. Both regularly lead to very predictable and boring rounds. Unsolvable problem. Some people care about winning more than anything. That will never change.
  21. SAID THE NERD. Also you said two numbers in one post. BACK TO ZERO.
  22. This sums up every Vox name ever AND is a perfect interpretation of how they all look while shrieking.
