  1. I love this with some specific notes regarding each alert. Currently, Blue Alert is basically useless, which is why we go to Red so fast and so often, and tend to stay there for the duration of the shift. Current Red Alert is a bit abraisive to crew under what are fairly normal circumstances due to the power it gives security. Here's the changes I think are necessary... Code Red: Very similar to the current red alert, with a bit softer gloves. Parameters for raising to Blue are verification of a threat on the station. Take current Red Alert policies and alter the following to make it a bit less heavy handed: -People ARE allowed to be outside of thier department (currently you aren't supposed to be and security can use it as an excuse to detain, search you, and even brig you for workplace hazard). Any alert rules regarding people being outside thier department are void because of this. -Security is still allowed random searches, with certain conditions. First, the officer must attempt a peaceful search. *point at whoever* "Can I search your bag please?" Instead of tase, cuff, search. If the person refuses the search, acts aggressively, and/or attempts to flee, the officer may then stun and cuff. For the sake of expediting the process, the peaceful searches are to be done in the field, on the spot. Only bring them to the brig if they needed to be forcefully detained. This process will ideally lead to a better relationship between crew and security. Cooperation leads to less time and energy being wasted on both ends. This will also lead to more competent officers because they'll be forced to become more familiar with what people can and cannot have. Code Red: Nearly identical to Anticeps with a few specific parameters. This is only to be activated when there is any mix of multiple command dying, severe casualties to civilians or sec, and severe damage to the station. Similar to when we would currently request ERT. Here are the clauses for lethal force at this level. Anyone who enters a restricted area can be subdued with lethal force. Preferably only until they are critical. If you are dumb enough to march on the bridge or start running around the brig as a civilian at Code Red, you put your life in your own hands. Lethal force may be used on anyone who is actively impeding or being aggressive towards security or command. Also, this will vary depending on the antag, but if it's code red and you are dumb enough to say...walk around dressed as a wizard when there are aggressive wizards on the station, security can use lethal force on you. Yes...I agree this Red Alert is every shitcurity officers dream, and probably an admin nightmare to start. Shitcurity will get job banned, or outright banned, just as people who greytide too hard currently get banned. Everyone will learn how to properly behave during the new alerts and it will level out. The biggest problem I see is the initial wave of shitcurity that will quickly get banned, and civilians who intentionally get in securities way for the sake of dying and potentially respawining as an antag.
  2. I think you should be required to play a certain amount of hours (8-10...maybe even more) as Warden before being allowed to be HOS. There are too many HOS's that are clueless about brig duty and just run around the station acting as a glorified officer. I also think that the fact that I can be captain even though I barely know anything about science and engineering, is absurd. Captain should be knowledgeable in the function of every department.
  3. Forgot to add that somehow, he stole your powers lol
  4. When Area spaces a locker into a space pod, the space pod explodes lol Need to start Chuck Norris'esque rumors about Ares
  5. R&D antags will always inherently be more difficult and dangerous to deal with due to the tools at thier disposal. Leads to some pretty exciting stuff though. Depending on the experience and dept of the antags and sec, sometimes sec has the upper hand, sometimes the antags do. Unless it's Ares. He will MacGyver his way into being a nearly impossible antag to deal with regardless of his role or type of antag lol
  6. Snowflek update: Altered occupational roles, updated employment and security records.
  7. Need to add another verse to this because @Birdtalon a la Khakiri deserves recognition for his performance and that story itself is a long one. So as said before. I started the shift as Warden. Early into the shift there is a breach in the armory and an e-gun missing. Reports of a vox on a purple coat seen in space around that time. A bit later as I walk by the lobby, Khakiri is standing there in a purple coat. I pause and raise an eyebrow. He says "Hihi" I say "What's up" "Nothings" I'm thinking how many vox can be in purple coats? Did a cling steal his identity? He's not doing anything wrong right now, we don't even know it was actually him who broke in. Whatever, I'm busy. I move on. A bit later Khakiri gets dragged into processing for something, honestly can't remember what. Search his bag. E-Gun. While processing him I had a short RL issue I had to deal with, informed him in LOOC and I didn't go SSD for the few minutes I was away so he technically have pulled something if he wanted n didn't. I appreciate this. He's been pleasant through this whole process so I tell him I'm giving him the minimum, 10 for weapons posession, 10 for breaking into the armory. As prisoners tend to do, as soon as I put him in his cell and remove his cuffs, he starts causing a ruckus. Bit of a scuffle. Officer assists me. We get him in his cell. Apparently he didn't want the minimum. I bump him up to 30 min and tell him why. Now again this shift I've been dealing with coordinating sec as we have absentee super commando for a HOS. While dealing with comms and whatever else he's trying to break out of his cell. I go tell him if he keeps trying to break out I need to reset his timer every time he does, first and last warning. He does repeatedly try to break out, I need to keep resetting his timer to the point where he is in there so long his original sentence would have been long over. Straight jacket time to give me a break. He's requesting perma but I told him he hasn't done anything worthy of it yet. Something he worked to correct shortly after. After breaking out of his straight jacket he gets through the inner glass of his cell. Repeatedly tosses his nitrogen tank at the electrified grill sending out tesla arcs that manage to kill the brig doc, the magistrate, and nearly me. I survive because I managed to hide behind a wall and hit myself up with the first aid kit I carry around. He breaks into the lobby. My taser and baton are toast from previous encounters. A stunning display ensues as what appears to be all of Security swarms the lobby and fires disabled beams from all directions. He is hard to keep down but we manage. Up till this point I just assumed he had the combat virus virology developed that was helping assist him in getting up quicker, now I'm beginning to suspect there is a bit more in him. As the entire security force dispersed from the lobby one officer comments "Damn, if we could respond to all threats like this..." and we all laugh. Now Khakiri in isolation awaiting approval for an execution. Because of his display in the lobby I decide to weld the vents in his cell, just in case. Execution approval comes in. All of Security is excited for this one due to the trouble he's caused so I invite them to come watch. Get outside his cell. "Its your lucky day! Execution approved!" Open his cell. OH SHIT. AN ARMBLADE! Begins assaulting me, causing severe damage to my chest before the rest of sec kills him. I'm in bad shape, coughing up blood, clearly broken ribs, but refuse medical treatment till his head is removed in brigbay. Brig doc says in LOOC that he is having UI problems with the surgery so I say I'll handle it in LOOC, IC I say "Doc I can see your hands are shaking because you are nervous, let me handle this" Cut the head off. Done deal. Doctor begins to try to fix me, but it was too late. I succumb to my wounds. In deadchat "Welp...that ling did a number in me lol" Birdtalon "Oh good Tetra, you died, that makes me somewhat happy" I compliment him for his display and for hiding his abilities for so long, we chat about the whole encounter n have a laugh. I'm revived. Give him karma. I rarely give antags karma but the whole experience was just too entertaining. Wasn't the first time a prisoner broke thier cell n zapped be but I've never seen it done so efficiently and do so much damage. Well done.
  8. Got a new one! So lately there's been a particular HOS who is rather absent on comms. I've grown accustomed to working with him when I'm Warden, doing my part as Warden while directing sec through comms. This shift particularly I had the NT rep pull me into thier office to record a conversation about this. Asking me about the HOS performance and such. Apparently several officers complained about his absence saying he was too busy playing super commando, abusing his gear and access, to bother leading us. He also allowed the first ling we encountered to get away due to his super commando shenanigans. From my view, I noticed his absence but didn't care because I enjoy coordinating sec. Either way I was under the impression he was being demoted mostly due to the fact that he wasn't really leading security. Not sure who's fault it was, but it took over an hour and a half to get him demoted and me promoted to the new HOS. During this time, Security managed to kill and dispose of 4-changelings. Some we burned, some we cut thier heads off. The only one that ever revived and got away was the one the original HOS allowed to get away. As I am finally being promoted to HOS, another cling killed in chapel maint. I wasn't sure where it was killed myself but I ordered officers to have it's head cut off, which they did before it revived. During this process the captain ordered it be burned, I informed the captain it's been dealt with as cutting the head off has the same effect, but the captain and AI spent the rest of the shift blasting me and security for failing to follow orders, on comms, via station wide, even in OOC after. 5 dead changelings, the only one that got away was the one the first HOS ramboed. Captain and AI are freaking out because they think we are dragging around changeling bodies that are reviving, when we've decapitated them. Threatening to fire me and officers because we didn't burn them like they asked, despite the fact that we did ensure they won't revive. Good luck demoting me considering how long it took them to demote the first HOS. Shift ended with the captain and AI blasting me and my sec crew over comms and station wide. When I did the same to defend sec they accused me of being unprofessional. Got nothing done the last 15 min of the shift because the captain was too busy power tripping about us not disposing of the ling the specific way they requested. The captain "fired" me over comms without faxing CC. Redefine comdom. Code green shuttle on a changeling round. Given nothing but shit for it. No love for sec.
  9. Anything that bumps this is good in my book @alexpkeaton. Was also fun for me to read again after so long lmao Learned a new term too. Necroposting lol
  10. Where's the mystery then?
  11. Confirmed. Holsters can hold a taser. I'll be spending the beginning of every shift as warden in perma growing biomass to supply everyone with holsters lol
  12. I think this is neat. Side note, even without this, Security isn't actually required to drag someone in and give 5 for minor crimes. Sentence for minor crimes is anything from a warning to 5 min at security's discretion. I personally only think the 5 for minor crimes is briggable if multiple crimes have been committed that will make the sentence more than 5 min.
  13. I always tell criminals to contact IAA of they think SOP is being breached or they are being treated unfairly.
  14. I'd say the thing that makes security most unenjoyable is the troll players who get off on doing everything in thier power up to and including getting banned to make security miserable. Not really sure you can fix this by adding equipment. Tranquilizer gun? A purfeudicecalin patch dispenser to mute them? Sleep grenades? Make it so the cells dispense sleeping gas instead of having a flash? Some sort of a way to remove cuffs from them without them attempting to beat the hell out of me or disarm spam me? Maybe just something that works faster than putting them in the sleeper and feeding them Ether to put them out. Even then they'll still complain to an admin even if you did everything properly just to get you bwoinked and waste your time. Best way to deal with all that is to not let it get to you, and if it is bothering you, sure as hell don't show them. Easiest way I shut up chucklefucks is by having fun with them and not getting annoyed. As soon as they know they are actually entertaining you and not making you miserable, they usually go SSD. Most importantly, IC I reward good behavior and cooperation with reduced sentences or even no sentence and just a warning, and "reward" the opposite with maximum sentences while letting them know how much less of a sentence they could have gotten If they weren't an asshole.
  15. I've checked recently but I'd be willing to check again. I'll be doing so tonight. "Why is the pod pilot working in the garden?"
  16. The holsters from Botany can't hold anything other than revolvers and solid round pistols. So only useful for uplink or gamma armory guns.
  17. +1 to @necaladun's visor idea! Something like mesons that function as a sec HUD! I bet Medbay staffers would even love a Med HUD like that as well! I'll let others respond now before praising everyone individually
  18. I believe the red vest the brig doc has in their locker is armored. Maybe a variant of that for sec officers.
  19. Gameplay wise I'd love a holster accessory I can attach to my jumpsuit that can hold a taser or e-gun. Then I could keep cuffs in my armor slot and something else in my pocket. Maybe also a sawed off shotgun. I feel like anything else is too big. Just to free up one more spot in my already overflowing inventory. Then I could keep cuffs in my armor slot. Appearance wise, I think giving sec officers multiple options for armor like the warden and HOS already have would be nice. Like armored coats instead of just a vest. Or something entirely new, not sue what. I'd also love different option for the helmet as well. I hate how the helmet looks. I'd literally rather die from unarmored damage to my head than wear it lol Not that it needs to be armored but a headband would be cool. Maybe base it off the bandana but remove the top part so the hair isn't covered. Different style SEC HUDS? Aviators? I'm sure someone would like those. Also a black security jumpskirt, styled like the corporate security jumpsuit available in loadout (and I believe there is 1 in the locker room)
  20. @Tayswift I'm now dying to be Warden when Tay is Magistrate. :3 I dunno why but I've sorta grown immune to people treating me like shit as sec IC. You sort of have to be especially when sentence people. Eff em. They are the type that will get banned. If they are doing it IC it's because they don't have enough brain cells other to do anything other than hop on the "Shitcurity wagon". Honestly if they were giving you hell OOC for it, AHELP it. They'll either have thier behavior corrected or won't be here anymore. We gotta be tough in sec @Tayswift! Don't let em get to ya. That's half the battle!
  21. Some people essentially validate thier existence based on whether they win or fail in video games (I used to be one of them when I was younger) so the drive to win will always exist. It sucks but sometimes it's all someone has, so give em a break. That and...some people are just competitive by nature. I don't think everyone on Para has a play to win mindset, or even the majority. The play to win people are just the easiest to see. Some of the most memorable and fun stuff that has happened to me in this game was when I "lost"
  22. Only thing this doesn't address, I just remembered, is the origin of my post. Essentially if someone doesn't see me working security they know I'm an antag lol
  23. I'm sorry I know this one is older but... ??????????? I'm like literally picturing the act of this in my head.
  24. I like that idea @Sothangel. IC Tetra hates the Syndicate, but that doesn't mean they can't hold her brother hostage to force her to do something. I may have to turn traitor on now. Now to find a way to explain being a vampire or sling.
  25. @ProperPants you beat me to it. I legit took at least 3 dozen screenshots of this lmao
