...as with most of the problems with the server...a behavioral problem that can most easily be corrected with better practice. I LOVE enforcing code red SOP. Greytide wandering around the halls with no ID at code red. HALT "Please display your ID" They run off. Chase. Tase. Cuff. "You can't arrest me, not wearing an ID isn't a crime, I can't be resisting arrest if I haven't committed a crime. SHITCURITY!" They cuss and scream the whole way to the brig, mocking me for not knowing how to do my job, for having bad aim, etc. "You are being arrested for failing to follow an officers orders at code red which is creating a work place hazard, that's ten minutes, and since you are being SO cooperative, let's give you another five for resisting and another five for being uncooperative. If you have a problem with that I can have IAA sit outside your cell and read space law and code red SOP to you." Not knowing what crime you are committing does not give you a free pass. They were arguing against getting a 5 minute sentence for resisting arrest, now they are in for 20 for being a smart ass...and I bet they won't run around at code red with no ID ever again. Tastes like victory. I guess the lesson here is, if you want to see SOP enforced and abided by, play roles that allow you to enforce SOP. Lead by example and others will start to follow suit.

Isn't SS13 already a casserole of stuff taken from various sci-fi entities? You could argue the "people will just green text/valid hunt" with literally any type of antag, whether it's already in the game or not. That's not a problem with what the antags are capable of, it's a player behaviour problem. There is probably some garbage independent film somewhere but I'VE never heard of space werewolves before...so it would be unique in that regard We can shape the lore in whatever fashion we want. Hell just like terror spiders, it can be a biological weapon created by the Syndicate.
-
I love this idea...it has a mixture of multiple antags to it. The uncontrollable transformation feels like blob. The werewolf has the violence of a powerful vampire or ling, the "human form" needs to deal with the stealth and vulnerability if a weaker antag. It sounds like it would be fun as hell to play. I'm just imagining every time someone transforms them being like "AAAAAOOOOOOOOOOO!" howling over comms and everyone being like "Oh god, shits about to get real"

@Purpose2 which servers? I'd love to take it for a spin myself.
-
Meaning all stuns in general? THAT sounds VERY interesting! Makes sense too. Lethals damage health. Non lethals damage stamina.
-
Not only not briggable but literally cannot even be confiscated because they are such low level contraband. (I don't even check for no slip shoes because of this) As I've said in previous posts, it sounds like alot of the problem is traitors getting caught with the "standard equipment" that many traitors purchase due to lost cost and effectiveness. Radio chip, emag, agent ID. Easy come easy go. Be aware of the consequences or being caught with whatever contraband you are carrying and weigh the risk. This would make less people spend the entire match walking around with an emag in their inventory, unless they are equipped for a fight to the death when they are potentially caught.

I just typed up essentially this same thing then saw Twin beat me to it. Just make disarm act like a physical disabled beam from an energy gun (I'd say make it WEAKER than this per hit, but same concept.) I don't know if low stamina makes you drop items (prior to knockdown) but it obviously knocks you down eventually. This just also makes sense realistically because generally anyone with a weapon in their hand should be superior to someone with no weapon, unless you are some sort of martial arts master or something. This would make weapons more...important...and benefic sec and antags alike. Sec won't have to worry about walking around with their gun drawn at code red because some civilian might want to "teach them a lesson" by disarming them. Nuke ops with a esword won't have to worry about an assistant pushing then over and slaying them with their own weapon. Removing RNG disarm would eliminate what is probably the most abused combat mechanic by people who want to be shitters. Anyone who is mad about it being changed to something more measured is probably one of the people who enjoys being shitters. Nobody cares what you think because you just enjoy trolling people to satisfy your teenage angst anyways. Go play Call of Duty and scream expletives at your fellow degenerates ...and you are correct...when your stamina is drained, currently the health UI will go yellow and red as if you are damaged, but it recovers quickly once the stamina damage stops. Though...be careful what you wish for. Right now it's annoying when people spam disarm due to the knockdown and item drop. I can just imagine greytide intentionally spamming disarm to make people just trying to get from A to B move slower or just to "lock down" someone to be an ass. Much like a clown that keeps dragging someone on and off a banana.

BUMP!!! Pretty please? With a cherry on top? *puppy dog eyes* *flutters eyelashes* This working at all? Don't MAKE me learn how to code things!!!

THIS...ASAP...PLEASE AND THANK YOU! https://github.com/ParadiseSS13/Paradise/pull/7025 My favorite part is the fact that processing isn't directly next to the lobby so when the text log is already flooded from a crowded processing room we also don't have noise from the lobby. I'm okay with the separated cells. You rarely need more than 3 at a time and I imagine most Warden's will opt to use the cells closer to processing. I also like that if you want to break someone out you HAVE to do it from the lobby instead of the hallway that is rarely used leading to the courtroom in the current design. The fuzzy cuffs and ballgag being in the same wall saves some work too. Would it be difficult to add a defib to brigbay?

Apparently it's a game that is good for parents with small children. The ability to pause it whenever and the rounds that can literally take days or weeks to complete helps kill time while watching the same episode of Blaze and the Monster Machines for the one millionth time.
-
Honestly...I learned how to do this by accident one time because I was having a UI problem where I had to reconnect (hence sleeping for a moment) and when I reconnected, I had dropped whatever I was holding on the floor of the pod.

Maybe it's time we think about removing secborgs

Figure since we are here because we enjoy playing open ended games with bad graphics and cumbersome UI and mechanics that I'd throw this feeler out there. Anyone like playing CK2? I have all the expansions so can host a match where we have access to all the content, and if we establish some sort of a play group we can save our progress and have a continued round over the course of weeks. All the expansions, no mods, for those who are up to the challenge. Any takers? I have done everything I can enjoy doing in this game on a single player basis but I've always wanted to try an extended round with multiple players. (Yes, Tetra has existed in this game as well, god help me)

EDIT: I was originally against this but then re-read the second half. Add something to SOP regarding how much searching is allowed based on if it's code green, blue, or red. SOP is supposed to be enforced IC unless it's a horrendous breach of it...like if you are imprisoned for being searched improperly, you need to contact IAA. I honestly think this is more a matter if play style. Lots of traitors get caught because they are using the high contraband items that at inexpensive. Stop relying on these items...or stop buying them at the start of a round and walking around with them for over an hour. You don't NEED to be tapped into all comms, or have an easy hack tool, or an agent ID on you for half or all of the round in order to succeed, and if you want to use these items, treat them as you would any other high level contraband...and be aware of and prepared for the consequences if you get caught with the items. Would you walk around for half the round with a syndicate bomb in your bag or would you summon it the moment you need it?

I'm literally talking about the mechanic to increase job slots for any job. Not just security...and again, the same equipment restraints could effect any department, but creating more job slots itself is easy. HOP on command comms "Can I add more (insert job type)." Captain or department head responds yes or no. If yes...click + next to said job type on computer. The equipment can be sorted out by the department. For sec specifically there are 10 lockers in the locker room. Plus one in arrivals checkpoint. I've never seen 11 total officers. There is enough gear. Medbay could use more HUDs and crew moniters, that's for damned sure.
-
It's not that hard to increase job slots in terms of people who spawn at arrivals...literally just clicking boxes on a computer...I just don't think many HOPs know well enough to do it. For any job it's alot less time and effort for the HOP to increase slots than it is for them to give people jobs who are waiting in line.
-
In my experience HOPs rarely increase the number of sec slots unless the server population is massive and even then, most of the time they don't. Sec is usually working with the same amount of officers whether there's 80 people or 120...and alot of that extra 40 are bored greytide who give sec more pointless crimes to waste resources on. Wish there was a way to scale how many jobs were opened based on population for common jobs (anything with 4+ slots at round start) but I bet that'd be a pain in the ass to implement. I've also never run into a situation where security runs out of HUDs, and even if we theoretically did, science could make more. Also...as much as I work sec, I rarely run into situations where having little gear when I spawn at arrivals is a problem...and the only time it's been a problem is in rounds where the station was already screwed anyways. I like @Doukan's thought of: This makes sense for any job. It's why doctors don't have HUDs and health scanners, it's why engineers and miners don't start with hardsuits.

...and a double from me lmao

My best advise is do what I do. How can you beat the system? Obviously if you get caught with an emag you are screwed, and yes I know an emag makes life easy, but as you've pointed out can also make life hard. Just need to break into a certain area? If you get caught hacking a door with no contraband on you, you'll be brigged for B&E, maybe trespass. You'll still get a second chance. Do not carry items on you that can get you thrown in perma unless you are in the middle of committing an act that would get you in perma anyways. It's better to store the items in some secret location and possibly lose them then to get caught with them. I guess I'm saying only use an emag in situations where you need the speed of an emag, like breaking into a highly restricted location, or busting in somewhere quickly to kill someone. Both would get you shoved on perma anyways. Part of the problem may be too many traitors just viewing an emag as "standard equipment" like it's something you always need to have.
-
I did also say at the bottom of my post that I'll just do a backpack for hallway searches...and again I can't speak for all of sec but I don't "always" do "everything" I can, I was just explaining what I do when I do a full search. Using that as evidence that all of sec does this all the time is the equivalent of me saying all antags always powergame just because some do. Powergaming begets powergaming. Sec will blame the antags, antags will blame sec. What came first, the chicken or the egg? I do wish it could be different because I think in a perfect world nobody would powergame and it would make the quality of play better for everyone, but you can't expect better behavior from one side without getting better behavior from the other side. And neither side is ever gonna give. Rule of online gaming. Someone will always find a way to push the mechanics of the game to the max and make it worse than it's capable of being. One of the things I've learned playing sec alot is to cope with people doing asshole things that ruin the round for me. If I didn't want to deal with it I could opt to do something other than work sec. I'd advise the same for antags as they suffer the same problems from the opposite end.

I can confirm I search all the crevices. Remove backpack, empty both pockets, check in any other containers in backpack, check PDA for both messages and uplink, examine ID, take off headset and test. I don't know how to check for a storage implant, but would if I did. Sec shouldn't be randomly searching you (meaning searching you without you having committed a crime) unless it's code red and you are outside your department OR if there has been some sort of announcement that nobody is to be in maint and anyone found in maint will be searched (it's usually code red at this point anyways). I can tell you that lots of the time sec searches people seemingly randomly it's because the AI caught you doing something sketchy and notified us. Can't speak for all of sec but I'm also alot lighter on people who are pleasant and cooperative, I sometimes even forget to check all crevices then, but if you are being an ass and super upset you are being searched, I'll be sure to check everywhere because there is probably a reason you are so upset. If I stop you for a hallway search and you say "yea sure, go for it" I'll probably just check your bag and be on my way (note I will ALWAYS cuff you for a search because I've had too many ass bags agree to a search then stun me and either kill me or run as soon as they know I habe the UI in front of me removing their bag...speaking of powergamers :P). If you force me to chase you and tase you then spit fire at me, I'll drag you to processing and strip you.

Here's a new one. Hot off the presses. I'll name this one "Riot or Wrong?" I'm an officer, early on we catch a traitor with a pen sword and emag who attempted to kill someone. We put em in perma. Captain orders we borg them. There is some opposition amongst command that delays the borgification but it finally is complete. The opposition was made public somewhere along the way and riots began in front of the bridge. It was really confusing for a while but at some point security needed to don riot gear to break up the crowd. We told them to disperse, some refused, we began arresting, uncuffed rioters began dragging cuffed ones away, a civilian who, as far as I knew wasn't a rioter, started dragging a cuffed rioter off. I tase and cuff them, another officer gets the rioter, I start bringing the civ to the brig. Here's where it got...interesting. in LOOC they say "Why am I being arrested? I've committed no crime, answer or I'll AHELP" I stop and IC I say "you are being arrested for helping a criminal, you tried to drag away a cuffed rioter that we were arresting" I can't remember what was IC or LOOC at this point but from this point forward there was a mixture of the two with them telling me that's not a law, I'm not allowed to search them. Despite them being SO cooperative I say I'm going to search them and if they have nothing on them they get off with a warning. I find a stunprod on them. Tell them I need to brig them for weapons possession. They keep arguing IC and OOC that I can't do this, so I say in LOOC "Alright I'll amuse you, I'll AHELP this" I end up MHELPing explaining that I've arrested a civilian that was helping a rioter get away, am I allowed to arrest and search them? Mentors get back saying "yes, aiding and abetting." So I've now confirmed with mentors I'm in the right, inform the civ in LOOC, they continue arguing. I confiscate the weapons, bring them to a cell, and say all I'm gonna brig them for is weapons charge, 10 min. I COULD have given them another 10 for helping the rioter and lack of cooperation but I felt bad cuz they were already in a bad mood. Before leaving I say in LOOC "while you are in your cell, go read space law, look up weapons posession under medium crimes, then scroll below capital crimes and find aiding and abetting" They respond in LOOC "Fuck you, I've read it enough...I'm right..also 'while you are in your cell?' ICKY OOCKY!" I respond "ICKY OOCKY? Like asking me why you are under arrest in LOOC? or arguing the arrest in LOOC?" He's says "FUCK YOU" admin turns off LOOC Sort of felt like I needed to report their behavior but again, they were already having a bad enough time, so I didn't bother. Already felt bad enough about all the stuff I put the guy through already but, I've got a job to do. Pretty sure the admins were already dealing with the situation. I never got bwoinked so I'm all good. Just another day in shitcurity. AS FOR THE RIOTS. The round ended with the AI being pitted against the captain, AI obviously siding with rioters. Security was divided, some trying to arrest the captain, some trying to help captain. I believe the HOS remained neutral through the whole thing, and kept a fairly cool head despite the situation. Good HOS. Karma for him. I didn't know what the hell to do so aside from a few confused tase and handcuffs, I was just trying to prevent violence. I believe the captain ended up getting spaced. Shuttle was emagged. GAME OVER YEAAAAAAA!!! If anyone wonders why someone would primarily work security, notably I've read someone saying "Anyone who works security primarily is a masochist"...once you get adjusted to the stress it initially causes, and are adept at dealing with all the various situations that are thrown at you, it leads to a hell of alot of interesting stories. Seclife. EDIT: I explained this story to my spouse, and we've now decided any time we get in an argument where one of us is clearly wrong, when the party who is wrong realizes they are wrong they are to end the argument by saying "FUCK YOU! I KNOW SPACE LAW!"

You say "ZN, I see your backpack SBR and raise you duct tape" well played. Haven't run into any vamps that smart yet. YET! Security evolves, vampires evolve The constant battle between sec an antags trying to out think each other lol
