  1. Is it the liver damage that makes you take toxic damage or is it just the alcohol? Because again, my liver and kidneys were literally dead (as damaged as possible) and I was having no ill effects from it. I think the liver and kidneys take damage from toxins but I don't think the liver and kidneys are the cause of any negative effect. I'll experiment on my monkeys more with alcohol and gasses n stuff.
  2. I wish autopsies were just more...necessary. Early on I played coroner a few times. Did autopsy reports where I wrote the cause of death, signed it, attached a photo for EVERY corpse that came in. I prepped and tagged every body appropriately. Even stored all thier stuff in lockers and returned thier IDs and PDAs to the HOP. Was super excited that security might need the reports at some point but every shift it resulted in me carrying a folder of lots of effort that nobody was ever gonna see or need to the shuttle. It was sometimes interesting RP wise but I lost the drive to do the detailed reports.
  3. I had a match the other day where alot of misfortune happened that resulted in both my legs being replaced with robotic legs but I had broken hips most of the round. Due to the robotic legs it didn't make me walk slower like it normally would. I wasn't suffering periodic damage. Just kept getting messaged about bones moving in my hips. Sometime later I finally got surgery to fix my hips and was informed that my liver and kidneys were completely dead. I carried on the rest of the round suffering no ill effects from this. Decided I'd test this out and went onto snowstation. Completely removed all the lower body organs from a monkey, then set it up side by side with another monkey with all the organs in tact. Gave them the same amount of toxin. Same results on both. They even metabolized charcoal at the same rate. If your brain is removed you die (duh) Damage to your heart and lungs or if they are removed it causes you to suffer oxy damage. Your kidneys and liver should have some link to causing AND curing toxic damage. Adding such a function would do two things. It would make these organs more realistically necessary, and it would also make it so people don't need to find charcoal when suffering a minor amount of toxic damage.
  4. I understand now. We'll done. If you respond to this say the next number. I cannot.
  5. ...don't try to explain it...my head may explode. I appreciate the effort tho.
  6. I only know two languages, English and bad English. Also a handful of words in French and Spanish after years of schooling. Quatre
  7. Birdtalon counted 4 and 8 in the last sequence. If I knew I coulda counted twice I could have gotten this WAY higher. UNO or does Anticep's previous post count as 1? There IS a 1 in there. I'm lost. So maybe DOS?
  8. The science outpost is ONLY used for cult unless there are some people in science who literally just use it for the hell of it cuz they feel bad about it being neglected. Personally any cult round I've been a part of where the base is anywhere on this asteroid consists of 60+ minutes of boredom. It's nearly impossible for sec to deal with a base there (hence why it's used) so everyone just has to sit back and wait for either the shuttle or slaughter the while the cult slowly does nearly nothing to make the round interesting for anyone but themselves. ...and on a server that is regularly pushing 40+ civilians we could use with what sounds to be about 2 dozen extra jobs.
  9. Oh! That was you? And I quote "Oh you poor thing! I'd give you a hug if it wouldn't horribly maim me" ????
  10. Alright another story from me about one of my own flukes that led to a memorable shift. This is actually the longer version of the Major Crime part of Tetra's security record. I go to join an early low population shift that is about 10 minutes in...depleted security force...I decide that having SOMEONE as HOS is better than nobody, so I take the job. This was my first time as HOS aside from 1 or 2 shifts where I was Acting HOS for a short while. I'm very inexperienced and inform command of this but they (which was literally just a captain and HOP) are glad to have me. Mostly had only dealt with cultists and traitors at this point. There are vampires on the station. Okay I've got this. Call the chaplain, get a tank blessed, 2 fire extinguishers in processing, we are good to go. My officers bring in our first vamp. Due to my experience with cultists I proceed to force feed this vamp enough holy water to de-convert a cultists. Despite emptying both extinguishers on the vampire they continue to burn. After we clean up that mess the magistrate bring me aside and informs me that I'm being demoted and arrested for manslaughter. I'm unhappy with this but accept my punishment without much resistance. Served the rest of the shift in perma. My officers did a good job making me comfortable, didn't put me in prison gear, giving me cigs and a botany bag. Kept me company and even still consulted with me about things. Eventually got a few vampire roommates that attempted to eat me and led to a lock down, one of them being executed, and the other agreeing to be a civil roommate with me. Appealed to central after working with IAA. Denied. I was super salty about this at the time but looking back now, just yet another unique experience given to me by SS13.

    Gun System

I'd be super psyched to simply see this added. Instead of needing to type out /me points her gun at-- *target runs off*
  12. Dunno how hard this is but...if we wanted this to be part of the current map...convert the court room to some sort of lobby for this operation and convert labor camp to use as the outpost. Two birds with one stone? I realize the labor camp would have to be modified massively to handle this. Hell take one of the derelict stations that is away from the NSS Cyberaid and turn it into this. ...or is the goal not necessarily to make more jobs but create a separate server that is a "sister" to this one for the sake of reducing overall population on Paradise?
  13. I love this idea. If Blueshield gets one I don't see why Magistrate can't
  14. I'd be more psyched about antag preferences varying from toon to toon. Turning OOC on and off is easy. I might be in the minority here but I have specific toons I queue for specific roles...and I don't queue for antag with all of them so it's annoying to have to go into preferences any time I switch toons to toggle antags on and off
  15. I also think there should be some sort of guidelines about the HOP opening more security and doctor slots when the population grows. I went to join a round yesterday that had a total population of over 150, 60 civilians, 4 officers total, and I wasnt able to join as an officer because there were no more slots. Sec can't trust hiring from crew so more slots NEED to be opened so we can get "pre-screened candidates sent by central" who are mindshielded. Those are the types of rounds I join as a civilian and apply to be Medbay Guard but that only works if the HOS is familiar with me.
  16. Super robustness from being a former Colonial Marine too ? Welcome to Paradise
  17. I'd like this if it's not a pain in the ass to implement...but I already manually do this so not a huge deal if it doesn't come to be.

    Gun System

I was just curious. From the responses it sounds like the system was at very least a bit buggy and imbalanced. It's probably more work than its worth to fix it. Probably more useful to have the people who actually know how to code the game work on more important things.
  19. Welcome aboard

    Gun System

That's why I'd love something like this...I wish when I didn't tase n cuff n tried talking it wouldn't be like "You are under arrest for----" and my target either runs off or stuns and kills me while I'm talking. BUT...I could see how people could abuse the hell out of it...and I'm sure that's why it doesn't exist anymore. This is why we cant have nice things lol
  21. Ohhhh I thought people were saying "switch to a system like LINDA"...I read wrong. I'm noob at both game and reading ?
  22. I'll be the noob. What the hell is LINDA? Obviously an atmosphere system from another version of the game but what's the difference to the current one?

    Gun System

Ahhh gotcha...I figured it was something like that. Thanks.

    Gun System

Forgive me if this has been addressed in the past. Under "Guide to Combat" on the wiki the "Gun system" mentions that guns have both a manual and automatic fire mode. I've tried activating auto fire mode the way the wiki describes and as far as I can tell it's not a mechanic of the game. It would be useful for either taking hostages or officers being able to say "freeze!" and not just taze and cuff before asking questions. Was this mechanic never added or was it removed because it caused some imbalance and/or it didn't function properly? From the wiki: Gun System There are two ways to use guns, the auto fire or manual system. You can switch between these with the F6 key, or the gun icon on your HUD. Manual Fire - This is the default mode for firing guns. Simply click on the tile you want to fire and you'll fire in the direction. Click on someone adjacent to you will cause you to hit them with your gun, unless you're on harm intent, in which case you'll fire a point blank shot at them for extra damage, as long as you have ammo.Taser guns have a special extra long stun when adjacent, regardless of intent. To fire at someone on the ground, click specifically on them, or the shot will go over them. Auto Fire - This gun system is useful for taking people hostage. When you turn this on and aim at someone a reticule will appear on them and they'll get a message stating to stop doing anything. After 2 seconds, if they interact with anything, you will automatically fire at them. You can allow them to walk, run, or use items using icons that will appear on your HUD. Clicking in their direction or on them again will fire at them. You can click another person to switch your focus to them. Click your gun again to stop aiming at your target.
