  1. In general, murder is not acceptable for non-antags. The rule could use some revision, I agree. The "over a minor transgression" seems to imply that a "major transgression" would be acceptable. That's pretty damn subjective. For some people, that's stealing a toolbox. For other's it's kicking Ian. Or because they're race X. Or they said something mean once. Even with cloning and defibs, it's rare that RP justifies that degree of damage to someone. Especially not hitting them in the head with an oxy tank 20+ times. Psychotic levels of rage generally fall under the "crazy lol" rule there. This is why I really have to say - ahelp before murdering someone. It's rare actually killing someone is required to get your RP point across that strongly at the expense of another's game play. Consider breaking a kneecap, stealing their hat, or just punching them once in the jaw while yelling "You killed Ian, you bastard!".
  2. We've been working on a re-write for the rules for awhile, however last I checked it's 9 pages after culling. Obviously not everything can be directly addressed while keeping it succinct. We obviously need to get some input on things that aren't clear however, and here you haven't made it clear at all what you're referring to. Is there something specific we can either clarify for you, or look at putting in the the rules?
  3. 'Positive, adj.: Mistaken at the top of one's voice.' - Ambrose Bierce.
  4. ...I'd be kinda interested in an offical friendly wiznerd. Give healing wands to medbay, etc. Try to help and cancel out the damage of greifyndor without actively fighting them. Especially if the crew have no way to tell who is really is the friendly wizard.
  5. Maps are built via byond software. It's...not the best. It really need expertise in not just the software for building it, but also knowledge of how the game will react to it.
  6. I think working too heavily with others would be a big problem. A map designed by committee would be terrible for the actual mappers, and most likely leave everyone unhappy. I think it might be do-able over the freeze, so I might have a shot at at least getting some groundwork done on it for the overall layout, and then let people squabble over the exact amount of medkits in medbay, etc, later.
  7. To confirm: Reviews are mixed, about 40/40 for against, 20% meh. Tiger was doing it, but has retired. Freestyla his picked up some of it. Personally, i'm 50/50 on metastation. The bigness is nice for sure. Not sure how it'd be with lower playerbases. Ultimately I'd prefer a completely unique one built with Paradise in mind from the bottom up.
  8. None of their abilities, strengths, or weaknesses, are unique. This was as opposed to several of the suggestions that were unique abilities. Very much this - Taj, Vulp, and Unathi, all have a very slight advantage over the norm, but nothing game breaking at all. Some suggestions here that are terrible, some that are decent. Nothing I find particularly jumps out at me as a perfect fit for both mechanics and to give them a unique feel.
  9. ...I think this is a really really good idea to stop antag clubhouses. It's an elegant solution. I think emagging is a good solution to turn it off - not because it's hard, but because only traitors can do it and only if they spend the TCs for it.
  10. Raising Kidan to 100 would make them non existent. I like where plasmamen are now, actually. Extremely rare, but not unheard of.
  11. We've been throwing around a rule rewrite recently which is...about 9 pages. I think adding basically, "If it's safe to do so" should cover the general intent. However it's one of those things where ignorance of game mechanics is the cause mostly, not maliciousness, which the rules can't easily address.
  12. Don't forget hemophilia, overbites, and double-chins, Emperor.
  13. One thing is whether or not objectives can be greentexted, code wise. Mutilate used to be an objective but was basically bugged for that - it could only check at the end of the round, so you had to mutilate them and make sure they don't get healed. The simple way is ofc, to kill them, so that was pretty tough. I'd like to see a working version of it, something along the lines of, "Send X a message from the Syndicate. Make sure they leave the station alive, but suffer injury X in the course of the shift." Steal + grief is obviously not really able to be checked by the code. Sabotage I really like as an objective, and I've been sometimes giving "Sabotage X department" as an objective to players I think will do it in an interesting way (Eg, not just bombing the place or killing everyone in it.). Making that specific to some equipment could be checked by code and quite good. Easy enough to do once. Harder to keep it from being repaired. I love the idea of checking areas for mess/vandalism. +1 pt per graffiti, +5 per for blood, etc. Great for conflict, doesn't scream "EXECUTE THIS PERSON HE"S A SYNDIE.". Also, conflict for the janitor! Steal objectives are pretty good now, especially as a secondary objective - jumpsuits and magboots are gone. Each head has an item to be stolen that's usually on them. Jetpacks and the void suit are the only ones left I dislike. Die a glorious death I love in theory. Kill the Captain+Die a glorious death is the perfect opportunity to suicide bomb. In practice, a lot of people have used it badly. It's also impossible for the code to check how glorious something is. Atm Traitors have 2+escape, which is working well.
  14. So much this. Who really fucking cares what colour someone is? From a "realism/immurshion" standpoint - the idea that people wouldn't be dying their hair/fur in 2500+ is ridiculous. What's reasonable, anyway? Only colours naturally occurring on earth species? Earth mammals? Is the Cyberiad the only place in the galaxy with hair dye? This isn't about realism or anything though. This is about complaining about other people. It's about feeling superior to them. No, the worst kinds of players are those who make the environment toxic. They're the kinds who barely even play on the server but clog up the discord and forums with either outright hostility or passive aggression. I'd take 10 neon-green tajaran who are at least nice to others, in exchange for 1 of those players.
  15. Only a comdom would arrange such an event :^) and it was super fun to learn the cult were just sneaking around, I didn't know they actually took part in the game to get their objective, that was really neat Ikr. What shitbird clown would organise that. (rematch soon?)
  16. First of all, it was never a rule. The rule was clarified at one point. Video game and fantasy names were never banned. The idea that Paradise thus went suddenly downhill when the rule changed is bullshit, because no such change happened. Secondly, if you want to be taken seriously, then the whole line of " so righteously offended that someone might take away their bright colors and snowflake names and their fursuits" should be left out entirely. A vast majority of video game and fantasy names are not furry related at all. They're obviously not snowflakes either, as there's literally another version of them out there. If you are actually livid over this, then you're taking things wayyyy too seriously. I'm not sure how someone I very rarely see on the server could be so livid over the change. It's good to know you care so much, I guess? Lastly - I agree. I think people should be making their own characters and not just copying other ones. Where to draw the line is tough though, as pointed out that people IRL are named after fictional characters. I'd love to see a higher standard there.
  17. Yeah I'd like to see them, or maybe a weakened version, as a legal self defence tool
  18. https://github.com/ParadiseSS13/Paradise/pull/5592 It begins.
  19. I do think removing their ability to infect monkeys would really stop the snowball effect. Forcing them to take out a player for every xeno they need to add rather than being able to start with ~6 xenos secretly would hugely stop them swamping the station.
  20. I have to agree here that losing against xenos isn't fun. The single click nature of the leap and stun just make it unfun and frustrating. For most of the crew, there's no defence against it, and it's generally no fault of your own. I do agree 1v1 fights against a xeno should be suicide, but not such a...quick an unsatisfying suicide. Apart from nerfing of leap, I think the biggest change that could be made is to make it so monkeys can't be infected. I can't remember seeing a xeno nest not in viro for quite awhile. Otoh, I wouldn't be against removing xenos, because quite frankly, there's a server that does xenos better than us.
  21. Yeah, I don't see anything good about this. Apart from just looking silly, it's a bad combat mechanic, and really, really, favours those with a low ping.

  23. How do I attach the trolley to the ambulance how do I robust people how do I get banned how do I get unbanned if a shuttle leaves from centcomm at 1/10th the speed of light and the nuke is going to go off in 5 minutes then who ate all the donuts on the bridge?
  24. I really like this actually, especially as something for the magistrate to do. However, a lot of specifics would have to be written up for how such things are judged.
