  1. Due to repeated problems that havn't been solved, we have changed how they work. http://nanotrasen.se/wiki/index.php/Implants Long story short, they are -only- mechanical now. They do not make you loyal to NT - they instead prevent people being brainwashed by Revs or the Cult of Nar Sie. IC reasons follow. Breaking News! A class action suit by former NT employees has been won, with over 200 doctors providing proof of long term brain damage and mental degeneration in those implanted. In accordance with rulings by Sol Gov, NT has discontinued the use of the controversial implants, and replaced them with a less intrusive "Protection" model of implant.
  2. So, Centcomm was messaged by a Captain asking for the nuke code. I messaged him back a fake code and began watching. He brought it into the bathroom and tried arming it. Novus Lem teleported in from Centcomm to ask what he was doing. When asked why he was trying to nuke the station, he said "Because I'm braindead." Intrepid Ace Reporter Tiffany Madison was quickly on the scene after Novus made sure he was braindead.
  3. The thing there is that if they're using disarm to defend themselves, they shouldn't really be arrested - although it's tough for security to determine who threw the first punch, etc. It is rare that self defence actually requires doing damage to someone - there are no stand your ground laws here, push and run is all that's needed most of the time. Perhaps a "brawling" charge, for charging two people who both seemed to be willingly engaging in a fight together? I don't like the idea of giving reduced punishments to people who are being shits because they might get revenge on people for it. It's a pretty bad precedent.
  4. Both seems redundant - they'd be a minor crime at most. Defining the difference between a minor and normal assault seems tough without it being up to the choice of the officer/warden. I agree that 10 mins for one simple push seems excessive, but when it comes to punches, you're doing actual damage. A simple solution if you don't want to be brigged from 10 minutes is not to punch people. I don't know how to word minor assault to cover that beyond saying "just one punch" which has problems in itself. And again, it feels very wrong to me to have both punching and pushing be the same crime. When it comes to disobeying orders, that's a matter for the HoP - you can obviously be demoted/fired for it. But having sec taze and throw you into a cell because you said you couldn't be bothered wiring the solars seems stupid to me. If it's a case of refusing to follow orders leading to death or harm, then that's a space law thing, but too often it was used in a stupid power play.
  5. Karma is not meant to be at all related to "winning" or achieving in game goals. Karma is to reward players for making the game more fun for others. Rewarding karma for winning completely undermines this. People should be encouraged to make losing fun, not to win at all costs to gain karma points. I could see perhaps a tally for how many wins/greentexts you've gotten, but this will never, ever, equate to karma.
  6. Oh shit, I better send puppies and booze quickly.

SUPERHEROES! - First person to find a wishgranter gets to pick weither to be Owlman or the Griffin and gets appropriate objective created - Wishgranter then teleports randomly on the station - Next person to find wishgranted becomes unchosen archetype with an opposite objective having the same target - Once both archetypes are created, the wishgranter is automatically removed from the game. Fixes Ninja Gear re-implemented from coderbus. - Still removed for play Addition of blood color - Greys are purple - Kidan are orange - Vox are blue - Diona are green Life-Proc changes - See https://github.com/ParadiseSS13/Paradise/pull/511 for details. Cyborg Rebalance - See https://github.com/ParadiseSS13/Paradise/pull/511 for details.
  8. The problem I have here is that if you're gonna get done for assault when you push someone, then you may as well punch them repeatedly. The charges remain the same as long as you don't be seen to be attempting murder or use a deadly weapon. So, a 5 min minor crime for minor assault make sense to me. But it seems definitions I think of would include being HONKed once with a bike horn.
  9. Glory to NT. This thread is for discussion of the new space law. So far reception has been overwhelmingly positive, which is great. But here is where I want problems to be brought up and discussed. The first is as follows: Disarming/pushing is counted as assault, or assault of an officer. Pushing someone down IRL has the risks of them hitting their head while falling etc, this isn't the case here. Pushing does 0 damage. However, stun-locking someone, especially by tabling, repeated pushing, etc, is really damn annoying. Disarming an officer of their weapon is also rather severe - just like grabbing a gun/baton/tazer from a cop IRL would be...really bad. This means that punching them several times also has the same charge as pushing them down once, which feels wrong. The best solution I can think of is to re-introduce battery/minor assault as a minor crime, which would be defined as something like, "To push or disarm another person without lawful cause, without actual damage being caused."
  10. This, and assault being a 10 minute charge, seem controversial, and understandably. Previously we had battery and minor assault. ...I'm actually gonna make a new thread in suggestions as I was intending to do before. Bear with me.
  11. Yeah that one is prolly best to adminboose.
  12. We are now using a modification of /TG/'s space law! http://nanotrasen.se/wiki/index.php/Space_law is the link. Feedback is appreciated. This should be more streamlined, less open to interpretation and easier to understand.
  13. Soon we'll be switching over! This is the new set of laws. Once we're comfortable with it, it'll be official. For now it's a shift-by-shift basis. http://nanotrasen.se/wiki/index.php/Space_law I'll make a new thread about this.
  14. Style>Substance.
  15. CBF deciding who gets this.
  16. Hi All. Due to the way we've shifted around github stuff, and the time constraints of our coders, I'd like to request one or a few people to help out with changelogs. You'd need to be able to read the merged pulls, summarize them, and make a post once a week or so about the current changes. This won't be paid or reimbursed in any way except for our love. Which is not redeemable for cash or karma. We might be able to work out a forum title and/or the ability to post it specially. If you're interested, contact me and/or ponies about it.
  17. Yeah I will try to fix it up. A quick definition of the difference between order and injunction is an order is your co telling you to do somehing, an injunction is sec telling you not to do something
  18. The unwritten rules page on the wiki seems a good place to clarify this stuff. Please post some examples and questions here and I will try to put some rulings on the page
  19. I have to say I have a lot of respect for anyone who skirts space low to better clean the station.
  20. Official Notes: In her capacity as Chef, she assisted a diplomatic mission by serving Eggs Benedict to a Vox Armalis. These were rated as "delicious" by the ambassador. It was not as impressed with the taste of the plate, but this was a cultural learning experience in the value of not eating the plate.

holy shit how did i not look at this thread for so long? I'm seriously in awe.
  22. I'm not at all saying the communities feed back isn't important. But recent polls have equated the voting % in the poll as "x% of players want this". And this is simply not the case. at all. The polls represent those who not just have decided to make themselves heard, but also who have the time to read over every thread, and to pitch in and form an opinion. I rarely myself get time to do it. The same goes for a lot of other staff and players. Just because someone doesn't have the time to read all posts on the forums doesn't mean that they agree with the majority in a poll of 10-30 people. And while the feedback of the community is important, this is not a democracy. Should 51% of the players want ERP to be allowed, it wouldn't happen. Even if it were, a poll on the forums is not a fair way to vote. It can easily thrown. Again, I'm NOT saying that we don't take the polls as feedback, but do not equate 20 votes out of 30 in a poll to the wants of 66% of the playerbase.
  23. This'd also allow a lot more variety for human females beyond "bearded lady", I like it.
  24. The forums of this game is actually what convinced me to try SS13.
  25. I've seen more and more posts recently with polls - which is great, however I'd like to address how these are viewed by the staff and players here. While these polls can be useful to gauge the opinion of people in the thread, please acknowledge they are a -very- limited sample size. In a few recent ones, I've seen the threads authors claim that the % in the poll is representative of the communities wishes. This is only the case for the people who have bothered to vote - which means they have signed up to the forum, are actively reading the threads, and the issue interests them enough to weigh in on. They also have to have formed an opinion about the issue, which generally should take at least a few days. Aesthetic changes may be faster, and changes to balance that require the meta-game to catch up can take longer. For many of these polls, there are less votes than there are admin, let alone players in our community. Please do not confuse the % of votes in polls with the % of the community that feel the way about the change - especially with such small sample sizes and short times after the change. Polls are a useful indication and summary of the thread, and I'm not saying they shouldn't be used or done, and they are most definitely taken into consideration by the staff, but they are only taken into consideration. They are not a true and fair representation of the communities wishes.
