  1. The problem here is in mechanics - if people can choose to say their character is able to resist, then the implants become useless. I guarantee almost every antag will choose to resist.
  2. Lore wise, many of the languages cannot be spoken by other races, due to either unique vocal cord structures, and/or needing a tail or the like to speak it.
  3. Like slipping me, buckling me to it, then rushing me to surgery to remove my limbs? x3
  4. Are no longer on hold! EG, I've finally gotten around to them. Put in new ones, or feel free to repost/bump your current one to indicate your activity.
  5. In a lot of ways I'd really really love to whitelist heads. The same reasons I want to are also some of the problems. It allows a lot of admin bias to come into play. Apart from the work we'd have to do reading over the applications, which would take time away from a lot of other things, I'm most hesitant to invoke favourtism. There are plenty of people who would make a great head that don't play them (I'm looking at you, David Buck).
  6. I'd have it function similar to a doorjack, I like the idea. Changes to the say code caused that - as they need it to speak at ALL now, It'd be nice to see it free to speak common (maybe tradeband and trinary as well?), and cost a small amount for other languages. Or be free. Hesitant. It seems to go against the general idea of them, interacting with the world physically and what not. Especially as the nuke disk is small. Yes.
  7. NT Rep, IAA, Magistrate and Blue Shield I could almost see being their own department, actually. If you had all their offices together it'd especially work. But...well, making a new department for them is a lot of work for no real pay off. And it'd be a department with no real head of staff.
  8. In the early days of blueshield, there was often problems with them thinking they outranked a lot of people. Being listed as command would make it seem they're allowed to command people, which...they're not. Authority over heads I do and don't like, it'd have to be clear. If he had authority over say, the CMO, a blueshield wouldn't be allowed to tell them how to do surgery, etc. The authority they should have is "GET OUT OF THIS AREA IT"S DANGEROUS" and limited to that. They're not security either (although I often authorise them to act like they are if sec is low). ...What about support?
  9. I'd kind of like an "almost all access" option to give people like this at times, not the armoury, AI core, vault, etc, but nearly everything else.
  10. If the problem is stacking of multiple charges, then possibly a better solution is to add crimes that include the lesser, and have more weight on going with the heaviest of the charges. Double jeopardy should prevent the stacking there....although there is nothing in space law about double jeopardy. A lot of the problems of stacking times and taking the highest from additional charges is that it relies on the responsibility of the sentencing party - the original example you posted was if security decides to apply the max charge of everything they can find, eg - throwing the book at you. Some of the additional penalties in minor are 2-4x the crime, and almost always demotion. Medium has 6 charges which "can" be permabrigging. Insulting an officer/misuse of public coms/ec are able to be tacked on to..a lot of crimes. So, I think additional penalties is the problem here. It -really- needs to be defined when it's to be used, and how different it should be from the original sentence needs review. Until everyone's clear on how, when, and why additional charges are given, then none of us are speaking the same language. Edit - also,"Repeat Offenders: For repeat offenders, you may double the sentences listed here." 6 minutes for trespass the second time sounds fine. 30 for insulting officers doesn't.
  11. I've got free time now and have accepted to come back as a Head of Staff. Thanks to Fox for taking over in my time, he'll be handling Code and the Github as Head of Code. Cian and Dave with both be handling Head of Community until one kills the other in highlander. Thanks all for not blowing the place up too many times while I was gone.
  12. This is one of the main reasons behind the ruling when I made it. Lore wise, I've always assumed NT put out various safety briefings, that they produce action movies with ERT members gunning down xenos, etc etc.
  13. I don't find the flashing in rev forces my RP anymore than say...a bullet to the head from nuke ops. As long as I accept that it's a special brainwashing flash thingie, it works for my headcanon at least. IMO it'd be cooler if it was a different object. I've even seen some great RP moments of peoples conflicted loyalty to their former friends who they now have to kill (or exile!). I've had some great rounds that were quite stealthy and not a TDM that it often ends in. I've also seen plenty of rev rounds devolve into horrid, horrid chaos. To the extent that when I logged in and saw 100 players and rev mode, I just noped out until next round.
  14. Giving yourself all access as the HoP, while there is an active Captain, without their permission, is a crime. The HoP is loyalty implanted, so would pretty much always avoid committing said crime. However, I've often created a separate ID, with the name/job of "Emergency Override" with all access, which is then stored in my PDA or hidden in a box in my locker or under Ian's hat or something. Generally I do this if I think the Captain is a comdom, or about to die, or there's a red alert, etc. The difference I see is that 1 - I don't accidentally gain access to something I shouldn't 2 - It's clear when I use it I'm using it for emergency reasons 3 - It's less likely to be stolen 4 - It can be easily given to someone such as the HoS or a blueshield YMMV, of course.
  15. Hi all. Due to IRL circumstances and a lack of time, I have decided to step down from my position. Fox's return as head of staff is with my blessing, and with him here I feel confident that Paradise is in good hands. Hopefully I'll have the time to be around soon, but until then, I wish you all great luck in the rounds to come, and thank you all for helping create this community. I never imagined it would be anything like this and you've surpassed my expectations. Glory to Nanotrasen.
  16. Love the art. Best of luck!
  17. Well, Paradise is a year old now. Which coincides with Ponies's birthday, oddly enough. When I started this server, I wished a server where I could have more control of the code, map, and the way the place is run. I expected at most 20 people at a time. The admin team started small, and a surprisingly large amount of players came across. Since then, we've been constantly in the top 5 if not #1 server by player quantity. We've changed the code and map huge amounts, added numerous staff, and have our own wiki and forums, which you people have done amazing work on. On top of that, some of you have even clicked the donate button which we put in mainly as a joke at first...I'm continually shocked and grateful that people appreciate the work we've put in in a financial way! The most generous donation has been the server itself, the beastly hardware allowing us to handle over 100 players at a time - something I never imagined would happen when we first started Paradise at all! So thank you all - players, admins, and banned griefers - for your contributions once again. This wouldn't be possible without your support.
  18. I don't have any screen shots of my space station on this computer but I'll just chip in with a, "YAY KSP!"
  19. Generally this in an RP concern. Reporting such things to Centcomm would result in black marks on your record, and may be a reason why you appear on the Reliable Sources ™ report at round start. HoPs etc may use this as grounds to not promote/transfer people. Depending on the round type, and/or current events, it may be a reason for ERT or other NT...assets...to chase your character. The NT Rep and IAA will generally be in charge of discrediting them. Reports to Centcomm will generally result in a reply telling them to discredit them, and possible command reports telling the crew that the DS do not exist.
  20. Due to the extreme amount of work it would take and the possibility of errors, no karma will be rewarded again. Apologies for this, but currently fixing the bans, fluff items, wiki, forums, and other things have to take priority. Additionally, if you messaged me (or anyone) in the forum recently, please re-send them. Especially if it was about fluff items, as I'll need to re-do them.
  21. http://80.244.78.90/wiki/index.php/Iden ... ntagonists Has been updated. It covers what can be assumed IC knowledge. Of particular note, Vampire's has been updated with the official CC response to them. Feedback is appreciated on suggestion forums.
  22. As that would require an admin with permissions to be logged in for it to work, I don't like the idea of it. Objectiveless antags have been discussed, and due to murderboning, dismissed. I do like the idea of "contact syndicate HQ" as an objective however - as it is a difficult one, and can lead to more fun, but as long as there is no guarantee of a reply it'd work. Perhaps, "Transmit the following code (purple waffles) to the Syndicate by emagging the command console"?
  23. The Cult of Nar-Sie is a terrorist organisation, just like the cult of Steve jobs.
  24. Maint access shouldn't be too hard- just get a job. The intention with civilians was to have them as non-crew, since assistants generally act that way anyway. This allows the AI to not care about them as much, and security to be able to tell them to leave areas, etc. If they want more rights, they can sign up and get a real job. We intend to expand dorms/bar/chapel areas to be one big civilian area. Some of the passive antag ideas I love - things like gangs though I see being problematic.
  25. One Directive X is a death order, and that one is being worked on due to that. It's not going as intended. The firing/account seizing ones have generally worked much better.
