His mechanical aptitude saw him shifting to an engineer, where we rose quickly to Chief Engineer of the NSS Exodus. He was promoted to Admiral, and now oversees the station and protection fleet. Lem is an adept miner, although shows some issues with the chain of command. Station Engineer - Transferred after large amounts of work fixing mining outposts. The template shown below doesn't have to be followed to the letter but it must have some form of structure and be similar to what is shown below. This is just to avoid confusion and allow everyone to read about your character easily. It would be preferred if you did follow the template exactly, however you are free to add in your own sub headings if they are relevant. The following can be considered IC knowledge. For it to be restricted IC knowledge to say Security, add [Clearance: Security] before the text. Sec and Medical records are Sec/Medical clearance. Name: Age: Gender: Race: Blood Type: General Occupational Role(s): Biography: Qualifications: Employment Records: Security Records: Medical Records: Personnel Photo (Appearance text): Other Notes:

We're doing some new rounds of mentors. This time a bit of a template is to be included, and some additional things you should have. Knowledge Required: You should be able to fill basic roles - Engineering, Security, Medical, Science, Cargo. Competency to play the head of one of these roles at minimum is needed, multiple preferred. Singularity and supermatter knowledge is needed. These are round enders if people get the wrong advice. General Game Mechanics: A strong knowledge of these are needed. What also really helps: Command roles: Being a good Captain would make a huge impact. Knowledge of command stuff like Space Law, SoP, and Keycard Auths/Nuclear codes helps a lot. Antag roles: like changling, vampire get lots of questions from new players, robust knowledge of these roles is a big help - include this on your app. Obscure roles: Xenoarch, xenobio, atmos, virology are more obscure. Knowledge of one or more of these - or similar roles - should be included on your app. Obscure facts: Telecoms scripting, putting fire extinguishers back in closets, refilling autoinjectors, wiring a bomb to work with a laser sensor, disabling borgs. etc. These kind of things show detailed knowledge. Lore: Detailed knowledge of SS13 lore is a big help, but not 100% necessary. ----------------- Behavior: A clean record is not required. However, having any current job bans will exclude you. Previous ban history is fine - as long as you have learned from this. Good communication skills are required, as that will be your job. Not having english as a first language, or poor english skills won't be held against you - as long as you are able to communicate responses well and politely. Ability to speak other languages is helpful - include this in your app. Roleplay - a good history of this is a big help. We will take it into consideration highly. Don't include this on your app, we'll know. Karma is not taken into consideration. --------------- Template - Used in application forum Byondkey: Time playing SS13: Time on Paradise: Timezone: Main area of expertise: Why you want to be a mentor: Why you would make a good mentor: Previous Experience with similar roles on other servers/games: Ban history: Other Comments:

Deathsquad do not exist. Are you all crazy? Stop listening to anti-NT propaganda. NT are the good guys. --- More seriously - DS are really not a focus for coding, as they're only summoned via adminboose. Once we start it's generally not too hard to adminboose more. The oxy tanks prolly should be double tanks, and in their pocket rather than suit storage. If summoned in CC, they can fill it up. Although if they're living long enough to use the emergency tank...they most likely weren't needed. I'd love to see DS get their own base to launch from and all that, but as they're rarely used, it's not a priority.

Badkiller is a -fantastic- NT rep. Listen to him The Fax was added to the Cap's office because of mutiny mode btw - they need it to get directive X. They already had a comms console to contact them, so it's semi-redundant. I'll take on board some of the items to be added and hopefully get around to it. When it comes to an admin perspective, faxes usually come into the following kinds: Updates on status: Just a general "xyz is going on" - Nice to have, but not real impact Reports on abuse/incompetency - Especially when it comes to HoS/Captain, the NT rep can contact Centcomm about them. A command report stating the captain is relieved of duty can have amazing effects. Requests for orders - Some NT reps do this and I love it. Badkiller often asks us if there is anything he wishes us to have the station focus on - My usual replies are to assist with research, security, paperwork/auditing, or something special. The something special can sometimes be a hint to the round type (especially blob), or lead to an event. Requests for additional help - Asking for gamma used to happen a LOT, but doesn't anymore, thank god. However, ERT and Red Alert can be sent by CC without 2 heads to swipe. Give a good enough reason and it can be done. A shuttle being sent with Hardsuits, Minerals, Beer or Kittens can also be arranged.

Players should be punished for declining anesthesia.

I do like the idea of a random chance of them screaming/twitching causing the tools to slip. Balance issues arise when it comes to people who are unable to receive it, and ghetto surgery. From an RP perspective, I like to scream I'm being tortured (over comms is also great) if they forget. Unless it's Novus Lem, who refuses it, screams throughout it that flesh is weak, and pain is an illusion. -
I am willing to dole out some karma here for exceptional work

http://i.imgur.com/MjKf9BV.jpg This is the station during a meteor event round, where people had to evacuate out to the other stations while it lasted. Note: Clean your keyboard before doing lots of bombs, or a size 25 turns into a size 255.

This is a fantastic guide. Thank you a lot. I love a good journalist. I miss Ace Reporter Tiffany Roberts. I also happen to give karma to journalists often when ghosting around...

The toxin damage is pretty minor, and you can add anti-toxin to it if you really want to get rid of it. I've seen plenty diseases eradicated pretty quickly - generally few people notice or remember them. And thats not counting the diseases eradicated via laser fire...

Leadership being karma appointed would make me much happier to hand over station control to the ERT Leader - which technically they do have. Mech pilots I don't like the idea of, unless we drastically changed which mechs were available, as the current ones are...very powerful. I like Caryl's gear list there and it's basically what I was thinking.
-
A few overhauls are on the drawing board for ERT. Jobbans from ERT are possible. As a karma role - it'd mean fewer ERT. An idea i've had is to make parts of ERT karma locked. Standard - Free Medical - 5 Engineer - 5 Security - 10 Leader - 15 Or something along those lines.

I have updated the rules. Post shuttle violence is no longer allowed. This should be fairly self-explanatory. The thunderdome will be made more accessible soon, where a free for all will be allowed. We'll also look at expanding the dock area at CC to allow a bit more post-round RP. If you have feedback on this, post on the general discussion/suggestions forums.

A chemical/tracking implant actually stops them ventcrawling...

Personally I put everything on the one table and alt+click it to get what I want

Not easily by far. And if we could, they'd have to differ as to who is online at the time. But being on invisible and not having huge amounts of players is making it much easier, and multiple rounds are going by without a single ban or even PM to tell people to knock it off. If there's any heat of the moment bans you think are wrong, I'd especially like to know, PM me about them please. I'll investigate them and it'll be taken confidentially if you wish.

A few things to clarify - I do not think all groups need to be protected, or deserve protection. If a Nazi is offended we allow Jews to play, that doesn't matter. If a homophobe is offended that we allow gays to play, I don't care. These rules are not about preventing offense. They're about creating an environment I wish to play in. I don't want to play on one where faggot is routinely used as an insult. This is bias, and I won't pretend otherwise. The rules reflect my bias in many ways, from my bias against excessive violence, to my As for banning - When terms like faggot are used, a warning is usually given to the player. Sometimes we get "fuck u faget" in return, which results in a ban. Mostly, we get an apology and nothing further happens. Some people disagree with us, and a ban only results if they do not agree to follow the rules. They can disagree on the policy - as people are doing here - which is fine, as long as they follow it in game.
-
I highly approve of paranoia, and play some very paranoid characters myself. Although I also love playing some naive ones. When it comes to traitors, if it is a tator round, roughly 1-10 people will be a traitor. Of those, maybe 30% will have an assassinate objective, which then has a pretty low chance of being you. I'm not saying don't be paranoid if you enjoy it, but treating everyone as a traitor trying to kill you isn't always a good idea.

We're introducing the rank of mentors. Their job will be to answer adminhelp questions about game mechanics, rp, rules etc, to allow the admins to focus on rule enforcement, bugs, etc. PM me your application if you think you'd do well, or suggestions for people you think would do well. A clean record, good rp, long time on the server, and robust knowledge of game mechanics is what we're looking for.

The global announcement rules has been changed. Please take time to read these. In particular, self antagging rules have been clarified.
