Please keep this thread as a guide of how to use the new paincrit system, and not for feedback on it, memes (even if that one is FANTASTIC), etc. That can all go here!

Here's a thread to talk about the newcrit system, specifically opinions and subjective stuff like that. Actual bugs should go on the github, discussion about how to best use it in the guides post. As always, be excellent to each other, remember it's just a videogame, etc etc

Internal Office Memo 3324572: Message To: Comms Officer Jenkins: Message Sender: Asset Protection - Novus Lem Message Title: What the fuck happened to hyperzine Message Body: Jenkins, if I find you're holding out on the last hyperzine stash in the galaxy I will sell your organs to the Vox, kill you, clone you, and repeat this until they have so many organs their ships will be made out of your goddamn kidneys you understand? What the fuck happened to all the hyperzine and why are you not delivering coffee to my office anymore you better not be using company resources to chat with those shitkicker losers we quarantine from functional stations by putting them on the cyberiad. I know I know, they're the only ones impressed with your "comms officer" title, but if we wanted you to have self esteem then we would order you to rather than using one of your clones for a pinata.

For all wiki request and issue reporting, please make a thread with an appropriately named title in this section of the forums. This is the preferable format that the threads should follow. Page URL(If applicable): Description of your suggestion or issue report:

Ok, time to chill out. You're taking this way too seriously. You're talking about increased access for a janitor, not liberty or democracy. For the record though, this server isn't a democracy. We're not really interested in giving the janitor more access. They can get into areas if let in easily enough, or ask the AI. Part of the challenge of the janitor is just that - getting into said places.

Ansari has become a maintainer, as some of you might have noticed on the github! He's also stepped down from CM to focus on this. DarkPyroLord has been granted leave as a Christmas present, stepping down as CM and going on leave. Guiltybeans has stepped down as a CM back to a regular GA. Normalyman, Shadeykins, and Dragonslayer/Shatteredcoyote/Terry/too many names has become our new CMs! Dumbdumn has stepped down from Headmin, and FreeStylaLT has been elected to replace him Brandon, Denth, and Shockpoint, have passed their TA terms, and are full GAs BryanR, EvadableMoxie, Breenland, and 6thechamp9, have been signed up as TA's Neca should do these posts more often.

And this is why you don't necro posts from 2017...

Claiming it's impossible to have a traitor onboard because there's a cult/slings/etc is a great way to get an admin to spawn a traitor with you as the target ?

Very much the case. A good team of robust people working together is worth 100s of TCs worth of gear. Huge amounts of fluke ops fail because someone couldn't even make it to the station without dying. As with wizard and other rare antag modes, getting experience with nuke ops is incredibly different. VR would be fantastic for that, as is just running various training events so people can get the basics of how to use jetpack etc.

The Law of Fives is one of the oldest Erisian Mysterees. It was first revealed to Good Lord Omar and is one of the great contributions to come from The Hidden Temple of The Happy Jesus. POEE subscribes to the Law of Fives of Omar's sect. And POEE also recognizes the holy 23 (2+3=5) that is incorporated by Episkopos Dr. Mordecai Malignatus, KNS, into his Discordian sect, The Ancient Illuminated Seers of Bavaria. The Law of Fives states simply that: ALL THINGS HAPPEN IN FIVES, OR ARE DIVISIBLE BY OR ARE MULTIPLES OF FIVE, OR ARE SOMEHOW DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY APPROPRIATE TO 5. The Law of Fives is never wrong. -

I have one log that shows otherwise. -
We've discussed persistent economy many times, and there are some huge issues that are in the way of it ever occurring: 1: If money can give any form of in game advantage, than a persistent economy means that older players get more advantage, making things even harder on new players, in a game that's already hard on them 2: If it can't give any form of in game advantage, it becomes kinda useless and just there for looks 3: In the case of crashes, grief, etc, how people will be reimbursed etc for their money needs to be looked at. If the consequences of grief can now impact people over multiple rounds, it will hugely encourage said grief. Crashes and other bugs are annoying to deal with, but if they had repercussions for people over multiple rounds, it would be huge amounts more work for admins. People already get angry enough about crashes and grief - having long term repercussions would make this 10x worth. 4: Meta - both grudging and friends. If you're able to rob people, then targeting them over multiple shifts etc becomes a lot more of an issue with long term consequences, and friends giving each other money etc becomes an issue - especially because of how annoying that would be to track. 5: Antags. If I'm an antag HoP, can I rob station accounts for myself, and then benefit from that the next round? And a host of other problems involving antags... 6: Self-Antagging - is stealing $10 as a non antag ok? $20? $1,000,000? These are just a few of the things that have come up. All in all, SS13 and Paradise haven't been written in such a way that anything is persistent beyond the library, and to make such a change would be huge amount of work, that would also increase the current workload for admins, and make any future PRs with an impact on the economy incredibly touchy subjects. I'd much prefer if we look at making credits more useful and harder to get, before we look at any form of ability to take them from one round to the next. That would need to be done anyway, so should be done first.

Oh, and ether and morphine (and how to best use them against clowns.).

...only mistake I've found so far. This is incredibly well done. The only suggestion I can really think of is a section talking about the different damage types.
-
I haven't heard anything about that. Not a single head or maintainer has approved it currently, and there are objections noted. Not sure where you're getting these ideas from? You are correct that 17 thumbs down is of little value to us when it comes to balance, however. I wouldn't exactly call that popular opinion, as that isn't even half the staff in number. Popular opinion is not what we look for in balance, as that leads to all the scissor players screaming for nerfs to rocks, and that paper doesn't need any buffs.

Hi all, As some of you may be aware, a few days ago 6 people were banned for metagaming, including two mentors. More bans may follow as we continue to investigate. Needless to say I'm incredibly disappointed, especially with the two mentors we placed our trust in. Not only does this completely violate the letter and spirit of the rules, but is a personal insult to have our trust violated by people who claimed they wanted to help new players by mentoring them. Taking advantage of our trust and their positions to supposedly help the community is incredibly low. This occured on a private discord server, whose owners seem quite upset that someone would reveal that it's being used to metagame. I've seen terms like "metagrudge" and "witchhunt", being thrown around at the people they suspect revealed them, as well as people being put in "quarantine" to avoid further leaks. This is pretty blatent admission to me that they have no issue with said metagaming - just it being revealed. . We will have absolutely no tolerance for that at all, and I personally find it pathetic that they think that those who were "undermining integrity of server" were those who revealed it, not those who metagamed in the first place. The evidence provided to us was concrete, and I have no reason to doubt its authenticity - especially seeing as there have been admissions of guilt from some of the parties. However, if people wish to dispute that they were breaking the rules, they're more than free to appeal. We've acted on the information we are given, but are happy to discuss such things. I'd also like to take this chance to remind you we take allegations like this seriously. If you suspect something like this is going on without proof, please let an admin know - we won't be banning anyone for unfounded allegations, but tipping us off means we can look into it with the many tools we have. As long as you're not clearly using this to attack people you dislike, then it's ok to be wrong here.

A single toolbox hit to the head should also have a risk of death, a single gunshot to the head a huge one, and NT should have enough space suits for everyone on board. Just because it's realistic doesn't mean it's how we should do things in the game - we're not going for that degree of realism. Fun>Realism.

Currently the amount of air on the station is basically unlimited. I've tried to empty atmos tanks (without just breaching them) before and barely managed to get half of it out over the course of a round. Combined with the amount of air in various tanks and cannisters, there's enough spare air on the station to refill it a few times over. Make the breach bigger, and it'll be faster. Escape is a fairly large room - add a floor breach or take out a good number of the windows, and it'll be much faster. I like my atmos dangerous, but a single window breach causing the deaths of basically everyone in escape would...not be fun - especially with generally how unavoidable it is if you're just sitting there waiting then are suddenly sucked out a window. ???

One of the big reasons for anti-validhunting rules is that non-sec hunting antags aren't held to the same standards etc as security. Again, it's really easy to assist against vampries and cultists as a chaplain: Ask the HoS to let you join security.
