It would be nice to get the syndicate cargo shuttle to actually function, but given how finicky shuttle code is, we're fine without it. I approve of removing the mining gear for the sake of discouraging syndicates from exiting their base - however in the case of an ash drake or bubblegum being lead to the base, perhaps have some sort of emergency kit so that they can escape? Unless the intent is for them to die with the ship, which is fair. Creating a section to let you practice engineering or atmospherics would work, but it would have to be a space ruin to do so - your worry further in the list about the atmos canisters creating a much bigger boom when the bomb goes off won't be a large issue if it's isolated in space. Otherwise, giving them the space and equipment to practice more on-station roles would be good. Cryopods would be a nice idea. Getting the implants to work would be wonderful, yeah. I suppose it wouldn't be as relevant if the syndibase became a space ruin though. The emagged teleporter beacon is a great idea. My only objection is the syndicate comms agent, and that's just because removing it would be kinda lame. I understand the comms agent role is abused to be stupid over the common channel, but punishing traitors for something out of their control by removing an IC advisor isn't a great idea. Unfortunately I have no suggestions to replace this. Removing their ability to change the PDA server password would be very good, though I'm not sure how to achieve this. I say it would be neat to implement a working shuttle and the teleporter because I can imagine that, in the case of a traitor requiring additional gear or ordering a crate, they would have to enter the base to retrieve it, or would have to send their stolen goods back on the shuttle in order to have their objectives be valid (or create new ones that tie in with the base) - at least on the rounds where the syndicate base exists. This is just me dreaming of a neat thing that's not totally feasible, mind you.

Thank you so much everybody for submitting responses! (Excuse the lack of consistency in response numbers as the list goes on; somebody just submitted a new response as I was screencapping all of the charts lol) I hope the survey was interesting to fill out; I tried to bring up as many contentious issues as I could. An important thing I forgot to mention was a lot of these questions were intended to collect data for me to use when making a new high population map, hence why they sound a bit weird if you take the rest of the station into consideration. It was really helpful though, I appreciate the responses I've gathered. Each of the spoilers contains the categorized questions and their responses, as well as (some) summaries of additional comments people left on certain questions. Have a fun read! Overpopulated: Medical Overpopulated: Hallways Overpopulated: Security Underpopulated: Chapel/Library Underpopulated: Engineering Underpopulated: Arrivals Wrapping Up: A lot of requests for Security rooms in each department Escape needs to be bigger Maintenance overhaul would be nice Medbay needs a major overhaul; treatment areas are chaotic in high population Encouraging more use of RP elements (courtroom, interrogations, etc) would be beneficial Someone really wants night lighting removed Science is apparently quite boring and stale

I think I'll give it another day or so before I publish the results.

For the record, remarks like this aren't helpful nor are they relevant to making a new map/changing the old one. Please don't abuse my decision to make this form anonymous by being hateful in the additional feedback.

https://forms.gle/KDjKdu3f4gJFQSF89 So having seen the results of the July 2020 community survey, it was brought up that some areas of Box feel overcrowded in high population, and others feel underpopulated at all times. I've made a survey to sort of go in-depth on what people would want if either a new map were to be made or if single departments were to be revamped. Feel free to discuss, add suggestions, etc.

i think you'll have to fight one of @Spacemanspark's characters for him

this is malphas; he's a demon prince with a convoluted backstory and basically is the "good guy" of an event i'm gonna try to bring to the server

SGW, He visited the station again today. He's getting bolder with his attempts to recruit people, and he actually succeeded this time. We need to get KR and the others to rally together soon, before he gets any more followers or souls. I've written a report of what happened; hopefully it helps us figure out what we need to do to stop him. If he gets any more powerful, we might be too late. I'll keep in touch. Adrien Volvol Date: 20th June 2564 | 8:10AM Location: NSS Cyberiad Subject(s): Chill; Shaun Bode; Rube Koster; Duke Silver Incident: As I boarded the station with the clean-up crew between shifts, I headed to the Chapel. Apparently someone had set up an elaborate sigil and placed candles in the center. I couldn't get concrete prints for who made it; seems like a bunch of people's blood ended up mixed in with the original lines. According to witness reports, a floating raven mask appeared in the middle of the rune and began spouting his usual jargon. Well, usual to us - I'm sure the crew had no idea what to make of it, at first. It seems the Chaplain was convinced that it was his Void god initially, but he was twigged off to birdbrain's true identity by the fact he made them pledge their souls to him. He got the mime to remove the candles trapping him in the ritual, and...well. The poor Chaplain didn't stand a chance after that; video recordings of the Medbay indicated that the mime and two civilians turned allegiances on a dime, beating the guy to a pulp. In the chaos, it looks like all of them got away unpunished. The mime even dragged the guy back to show off the corpse to crowface. I can't believe what people are saying happened next, but guards on the Trurl seem to verify it - and those guys don't lie, generally. Chill turned into a goddamn xenomorph, got on the escape shuttle, and survived the trip back. I assume that was his reward for being a loyal servant, but - how? What was the goal, here? I didn't know the demon was able to transform his followers like this. The more I look into this, the more I wish I'd stayed out of it. I'm not a demon hunter; I'm a detective. Thank you for the great event! It was nice to do something as a reward for someone's hard work setting up an interesting set-piece. Hopefully it was fun for those involved. This is the kind of thing I want to do, and I'm excited to share some of the stories and characters I have in mind with those willing to see them.

It's actually the same amount of materials, just the glass is split into two. By default it's one stack of twenty, so now it's two stacks of ten. Also I'll change the door location and add a second fuel tank.

Oh! The welding tank is on the wall in my surgical area.

I mean if people like the idea proposed on that response, I'd be happy to implement it as opposed to my idea. My only critique is that the green circles in my map aren't common tools; they're "one and done" pieces of equipment that I rarely ever see anyone pick up again after roundstart. The little surgical room is cramped because everything is accessible from a tile away, although I can see the reasoning behind why that would look clunky for a more roleplay-oriented feel. Of course, I highly encourage Robotics mains to pick and choose from both renditions so that we can merge 'em both into a cohesive room! Both have pretty decent ideas.

honestly i just want them split into separate job roles so people aren't beating the shit out of each other over their spots. joining as a xenobiologist specifically to do xenobio and then someone with the job title of "toxins specialist" barging into and taking over the xenobio lab is really, really obnoxious.
-
love this idea, absolutely. i think it should be separated into its own scientist role though, if it gets implemented - as, honestly, so should the rest of science, but that's a different kettle of fish.

So I'm a madman and I decided my next major project should be Metastation. Spark is exceedingly excited about it.
