  1. Was really tempted to dish out 150 quid for the archeum but in the end held my wallet back and told myself no. Got into all the closed beta events but now my PC is out of action for at least another month so the game's started without me :'(
  2. "RD can we make a H.O.N.K" DEMOTE HE, BLUDGEON HE, BAN HE
  3. We currently go between visible and invisible on the BYOND hub irregularly so if you don't see us up there and the server was up a few hours ago or the day before we are likely invisible unless announced otherwise on the forums. Some people appear to have trouble using the link so here is a step by step guide on how to join a specific IP address on the BYOND hub and to add it to your bookmarks for future reference. To connect directly to the server 1. Open BYOND to the main page and click Open 2. Paste either byond://nanotrasen.se:6666 or byond://80.244.78.90:6666 and click OK To save the server to bookmarks for future use 1. Follow all steps above but don't press OK. 2. Click Add. If you didn't enter the server address previously do so in the url section. Then add a name and click OK 3. Press cancel and you should be at the main page of BYOND. Exit out of BYOND completely and reload it and you should now have a direct link on the main page. You should now be able to join the server at any point when it is online (without having to leave the main page)
  4. Hehe true true. Though I have had chase for well over a year now, and he is my first and oldest character on the server and anyone who remembers him probably won't have an issue with them
  5. Name: Chase Scott Age: 37 Gender: Male Race: Human Blood Type: AB+ General Occupational Role(s): Research Director, Anomalist Biography: Chase Scott is a reknowned scientist and has served in the research division on many ships and stations including the NSV Icarus and NSS Redemption. He has a Ph.D in phsyics and particle theory, while he maintains a masters degree in chemistry and biology. He was part of a team comprised of some of the best scientists and engineers in the known universe that developed the singularity engine, unfortunately he lost his right hand when one of the prototypes malfunctioned in the early development stages. After spending 3 years working aboard the NSV Icarus working on developing new kinda of advanced weaponry he killed his superior officer whom was later found out to be a sleeper agent though whom he worked for was never discovered and the investigations are still ongoing to this day into whether this was a government plot to falter NanoTrasen's actions or if it was a terrorist organization is still unknown. He was summoned to NAB Smythside to answer for his crimes where he explained the situation and was cleared of charges and commended for his loyalty. He was promoted to Research Director and assigned to the NSV Luna where he worked for 4 more years experimenting with bluespace warp and telecommunications as well as some small weapons projects. After his time served aboard the Luna he was assigned to the NSS, now known as NCS, Cyberiad where he worked for 10 more years as the Research Director. The Head of Research on the Trurl who oversaw all research vessels in the Epsilon Eridani star system became ill and died a few months after being diagosed. Chase was the only man capable of taking on the job and was promoted to Head of Research overseeing all research stations and vessels in the Epsilon Eridani star system He isn't the biggest fan of office work so rather than staying aboard the NAB Trurl he generally works aboard his station, the NSS Redemption. On occasion he signs up to work a shift aboard the NGS Cyberiad though it is is rare that this happens. Qualifications Degrees Ph.D in particle theory Ph.D in physics Ph.D in bluespace technology Masters in chemistry Masters in biology & human anatomy Other skills Gravitational Singularity maintenanceSelf defence Self trained in various weapons use, generally used in experiments involving prototype weaponry First aid Has practiced surgery on humanized monkeys to further knowledge on human anatomy, can perform minor surgery in emergencies. Employment Records: 5 years aboard the NSV Icarus 10 years aboard the NCS Cyberiad Currently working aboard both the NSS Redemption and NGS Cyberiad. Security Records: [-CLASSIFIED-] Medical Records: Lost his right hand due to a prototype malfunction. Dealing with a hyperzine addiction. Regular smoker and coffee drinker. Personnel Photo: Entry Pass: Commendations: Medal of Loyalty Nobel Science Award Reprimands: Other Notes: Out of character side note: All chase's skills have come from experience which I tried to show in his biography which I made for him a year or so ago. Eg he would be able to do singulo maintenance because he helped design it. Human anatomy is of the human body so he would know what does what and able to operate in certain situations (note he can only do it for humans, and tajarans in some cases as they have a similar anatomy). Weapons use from experimenting with prototypes, NSV Icarus was a research ship which specializes in combat drones and other combat research so he would have learnt a bit there. That was just to clear some stuff up for the people that think its a bit power/metagamey that he has qualifications in other jobs. Yes it's a lot of reading in the biography part but... fuck it I love writing lore for characters.
  6. Qinetix nailed it with that reply really. It is true you shouldnt have to wear a hardsuit unless its needed. Aside from that I don't really see the use. Ce's till now have gotten along fine without one and I don't see it being needed in most situations.
  7. Shift click/examine ID and it does.
  8. Just on the general lore of this, machine people are as they sound... Machine People aka full robot. A cyborg is a being with both organic and robotic parts (in this case a robot body and a human brain). -Giving them robot encryption key would ruin every malf AI round. -Surgery on self would be OP. -EMP should do damage. -Own radio.. maybe? -Flash should have same effect as it does to borgs. -Roboticists required to heal/ -Hacking would be OP unless it took a long time and required panel to be open, possibly a unique hacking system? -No need to breathe? Machine people are fully synthetic so should feel no need to breathe. -The cell idea i like but if it were to be implemented have the power consumption rate pretty low. A side note, i haven't really played with machine people too much as of yet but i read somewhere, i think it was bay, that emagging machine people makes them loyal to you. Im not sure whether or not thats in our code but i think it would be a nice addition.
  9. i actually kind of like the idea of replacing cargo points with the accounts. As it is now economy isn't really a high priority but when work begins to be done on it i would like to see how this plays out
  10. if medical cyborg had those tools it should at least have bone gel and setter, and another note it would need someone to put the guy on a table, roller bed etc others i have no real problem with except the standard should not have sec vision it would have no need for it
  11. i actually quite like this idea, i think some servers do this but they don't actually publish the statistics they just have it for admin review
  12. i blame the 2x2 sprite i wasnt able to click you as my head covered you
  13. well the shuttle made it to centcom, though its missing something.... cant quite put my finger on it.
  14. emaged medborgs get pacid spray
  15. on the topic of batons i feel the telescopic baton needs to be nerfed also i mean if your in a full hardsuit and you get hit my it, i cant really see it knocking you down or at least not with 1 hit anyway. Same would go for ert armor etc
  16. eh whoops, sorry admin room (50 sized explosion)
  17. We need to do this! But yes as roland said it will be a long round and frankly we dont have a strong enough regular player count to do something like this. I would say we could work on mapping this and get it coded in and ready to use and whenever we have reached the necessary requirements to do the event, we add it in. We have 45 players on the other night so i doubt we will be waiting much longer
  18. Go Go Mech Team! (there was another Marauder and an Odysseus in the 2 area's that were blacked out as in wasnt in my, durand, field of view)
  19. welcome aboard, good to have you!
  20. pAI should be able to examine things for one Be able to talk on all the radio channels that its master's headset is linked to. be able to know whats happening in its surroundings, eg x was stunned by y with stun baton
  21. i told myself i wouldnt bother making this thread, nice job doing it and you have some patience indeed
  22. could always add a smelter to the research outpost. That way you don't have to nag the hop to give you mining access and you can go straight from the outpost
  23. Hi guys my name is cian and i live in ireland, some of you know me at this stage i imagine. I play on ss13 quite a lot as ever since i first played it i was instantly hooked, that and my laptop cant run much better than it My in-game character usually goes by the of Chase Scott, you would usually find me in a head role normally CMO, RD and the odd time CE or HoP. I know this game quite well and always try and help people when they need help with something, if ya need help with anything including learning to play gimme a shout. Hope to see ya on the server Peace out!
  24. Hacking is really easy once you get the basics What you will need: Insulated gloves (budget work but they have a high chance that you will still get shocked) Screwdriver Multitool Wire Cutters Crowbar Doors There are many different wires, if you are just looking to get the door open the only wires you will need to find is the test light wire, bolts light and the power light if you want to just cut the power to the door and crowbar it open. The best way to find wires is to screwdriver open the doors panel and use the multitool and pulse each wire taking note of what each does, it is best to use the 'note' tab to note down what each wire does. Now to be able to crowbar a door open you must get the test light to say 'off'. If the bolts and down you will need to find the bolts light to raise them. Sometimes pulsing wont work for whatever reason and the solution is to cut the wire and mend it and pulse again, if the test light is off usually you cannot raise or lower bolts until it is back on. Other wires such as the ai control wire are usually useless unless the ai is malf and you need to stop it using doors etc. Pulsing the power wire will disable power to the door for one minute before backup kicks in, cutting disables for 10 minutes until backup kicks in unless of course you cut the backup wire as well. While a door has no power it can be forced open with a crowbar. In the event of a blackout a crowbar is almost always needed to get around. Vending Machines There is really only one reason to hack vending machines and that is to get the 'illegal goods'. To do this you will need to pulse each wire until it brings up more things to buy, pretty simple. If you had to pulse other wires that didnt get you the illegal goods then its best to cut every other wire and repair them so the vending machine doesnt break and launch things at you etc. Machines This to is to get illegal items. Pulsing will only allow them for a few moments so you will need to cut this wire. The wire you will need to cut will be the blue light wire. This is generally only usefull on autolathes.
  25. Okay your off to set up the singularity. Required items Hardsuit and helmet Magboots Optical Meson Scanners Cables Screwdriver Wrench There are several things you will need to set up and it doesn't really matter which order you set them up in but this is the order i usually follow/ Setting up the Particle Accelerator First off you will want to go into the PA (particle accelerator) room and use your wrench to secure every piece of the PA to the floor, including the computer. Next you will need to place cables in each and then use your screwdriver to close each of the panels. Go to the computer and run scan to make sure all parts are working. Radiation Collectors Next you will need to open secure storage. Get either the CE or the AI to open it, the button is in the CE office. Go to the tank dispenser beside secure storage and dispense 5 plasma tanks and get the 6th beside the radiation collectors. Get the plasma canister from secure storage and turn its output level to max. Now you need to be careful here, place the tank inside the canister and open the valve until it fills, close the valve and remove the tank and put in a new one and repeat the process until all the tanks are full. BE SURE NOT TO OPEN THE VALVE WHEN THERE IS NO TANK INSIDE OR ELSE IT WILL LEAK PLASMA. Put a plasma tank into each of the radiation collectors and turn them on and lock them with your id if you want. Setting up the field Next get your hard suit on, you are going outside. Make sure you have an oxygen tank and a mask and have them turned on. Toggle your magboots and enter the airlock. Activate the cycle. When you get outside you are going to need to turn on each of the emitters located at the corners, be sure not to walk in front of the laser it will do quite a lot of damage to you. Turn on the shield generators as well and the emitters will power this, be sure not to walk into the field when it is up as you may die. Creating a singularity When the field is fully up go back inside and into the PA room. Assuming it is set up right and there are no parts missing it will give you the option to turn on the PA and to set the power. Turn it on and set power to 2. Be sure to be wearing the meson scanners or you may go blind looking into the sing. Setting up the SMES's While you wait you can go over to the SMES's and set them up. To do this turn charging to auto turn input level to max and output to 150,000. It should only take 2 SMES's to power the station so you can have them all set up the same but on one of them turn output off so it just charges but doesnt output, this can be the backup if you run out of juice. Finishing off the singularity Go back into the PA room and the singularity should be in its 3rd stage (pink colour) or in 2nd stage (red) and about to enter 3rd. Once its pink turn the PA power to 0 but leave the power on. The singularity is now set up and it should begin to charge the SMES's. Leave the PA room and close the blast doors and leave it as it is. Check on it every now and then to make sure its okay. Thats all there is to it if you followed the steps correctly then you should be powering the station and not have the rest of the crew yelling at you to get the power online
