  1. I disagree, credits lacking any real value is a LRP system. Most player do not care or even bother using credits, only a few dedicated RP'er accept credits as payment and when you do, it doesn't feel good or meaningful. The current credit system is broken, for example, the vault only has like 7000 credits when gamblers regularly win 100 000 or even 1000 000 000 credits. If rampant embezzlement of station funds by the heads and inflation could be kept in check this could be a great system. Warning, my dreams start here! You could introduce new traveling salesman jobs tasked with selling a variety of goods to the station and sending credits back to HQ, thus removing credits from the economy and giving rich people or departments something to spend money on. One round you could get a Donk Co salesman peddling boxes of the new spicy donk pockets to the crew, another you could have an antagonist salesman from a syndicate affiliated corporation trying to bribe the HoP with fine champagne and designer bags in order to embezzle the stations funds. I think having an economy could create some great RP opportunities. (Here is the champagne sprite is drew as an example of a credit sink or trader item.)
  2. Chaplain will be the best job ever if this is implemented. "God spoke to me today and told me to obtain a 50 million credit space pod, we need to spread the gospel to Mauna-b, hallelujah!"
  3. I would love it if this was implemented as it would make credits actually feel valuable and lead to better RP around work for hire, bribes, setting up your own shop and the fencing of stolen goods.
  4. Here comes 3 sprites depicting a beryllium copper wrench, intended to have the same stats or nearly the same stats as a normal wrench but feel more rare and exclusive. Beryllium alloy tools are much more expensive than steel tools but do not create sparks when stuck against a hard surface and are therefore are used out in the real world when working near flammable material(Such as plasma on a plasma research station perhaps?). My idea for the use of this sprite is that this wrench would be stored in the CE's office, the secure storage or QM's office, and be given out as a reward for good work or stolen by greytiders. I've made two different shades so far and one with a lighter outline, the outlines of two of the sprites are probably way too dark.
  5. I find that most rounds security actually has the upper hand and are not killed en masse and, I have played a lot of coroner lately and most round not a single sec officer end up in the morgue. On the flip side quite a number of antagonists are taken out of the round each shift and only one or two usually greentext. And this is despite many sec officer being new, horribly bald and unrobust. So many of the stories of SS13 involve greytide in one way or another, I dont think throwing a tiny little bone to this essential part of the playerbase or updating the rules to more reflect how they are actually enforced are going to change this dynamic much. When i say greytiding, I am talking of burglary during cling / vampire / traitor rounds mainly. If you are taking a break from chasing a fully powered vampire to extract some assistant from the kitchen, you got your priorities wrong.
  6. Of course you COULD be stricter on tiding, but you could also be more permissible. I think tiding should be allowed on red and security should have to prioritize how much resources they spend to chase the tiders down. This already how it defacto works, the no tiding on red rule is seemingly not enforced at all. Just because disaster strikes does not mean petty crime stops. I actually think greytiding adds to the game by providing tension, unpredictability and low stakes arrests for sec. Me selling the genuine Bob Ross to the bartender or giving all of captains clothes to the clown is not going to ruin anyone's round.
  7. Greys are immune to sulphuric acid. I have never seen sulphuric acid weaponized. How much damage does it cause compared to the more commonly seen fluorosulphuric acid? Both are strong acids, its not unimaginable that greys would be immune to both. Neither seem to be used as weapons very often. Being able to social engineer the chemist in order to obtain fluorosulphuric acid would allow this fragile race a couple of more ways of fighting smarter.
  8. As greys can be killed with a fire extinguisher and receive 25% increased brute damage, they can be killed very easily and sometimes even accidentally. I don't think this is a bad thing. Making us immune to, and able to drink fluorosulphuric acid would be a very small buff in the survivability department but more importantly would allow us to more easily obtain the acid for self defense or murder. I think this is a good idea as chemical warfare fits well with the physically weak but science inclined grey race.
  9. Here are my other sprites i have posted in other threads. 3 pieces of food, 1 drink and an ornate box.
  10. My previous drink sprite attempts were too large. This one is a little smaller, the peach phase is at the top and i've added an umbrella. Let me know what you think.
  11. You might have to make it so harmful reagents get a bigger boost if we expect people to regularly break or remove their livers for powergaming reasons. Also i created a couple of WIP sprites for the hypothetical synthanol beverage i suggested. I might make lower phase a little bigger, tweak the colours and add a straw or an umbrella or something.
  12. My feeling is that when the kidneys are completely dead the toxin reagent should be added to the body every tick, perhaps at twice the rate of depletion(or however slow it needs to be to make dialysis a viable treatment until a new pair of kidneys can be obtained.) It should be a life threatening condition not a minor coffee related annoyance. Perhaps toxin should start being added earlier but at a slower rate. What happens if you add toxin below the depletion amount, do the character still take the toxin damage but no toxin reagent builds up? If it is implemented this way it would closely mimic real life kidney failure as the kidneys filter out endogenous toxins from the blood. As for liver failure, is it possible to code it so that patients with a dead liver eliminate reagents much slower? This snippet from the paradise station wiki indicates that this might be possible: If this was changed keeping your liver in good shape might become a lot more important and allow for some new interesting poison mixes. Im my dream world where these changed are implemented, the Drask race special liver; the metabolic strainer, has more hitpoints. This would potentially lead to some interest cross species transplantation work.
  13. In the real world many toxins damage the liver and kidneys, but in ss13 I've never seen anyone suffer from kidney failure. How does kidney failure even work ingame? If we had more ways people could get hurt it could increase the fun for both the antagonists and medical staff. I suggest: Introducing a new reagent as the principal kidney toxin; Ethylene glycol(commonly known as antifreeze), this is an interesting toxin because of its sweet and pleasant taste, it could give the generic "You can taste the sweetness" message when imbibed. Introducing a new synthanol based drink that is sweetened by ethylene glycol, this makes sense because it is used to cool machines and both toxic and non-toxic glycols have been used in alcoholic beverages to provide sweetness and improve mouthfeel. Since we already have the very potent liver toxin carbon tetrachloride in the game under the name firefighting foam, i suggest it be renamed to its proper name and given the ability to actually cause liver damage in addition to putting out fires. Consider adding kidney toxicity to transfused blood of the wrong blood types. Consider adding delayed liver damage to amatoxin(perhaps this is already in the game?) If kidney failure has not been coded, it could cause a buildup of generic "toxin" and thus be able to be alleviated by dialysis. Since both of these toxins have at least one alternative usage they can be obtained from the chemist with some social engineering. My suggested recipe for ethylene glycol: 3 parts oxygen 3 parts welding fuel 3 parts water 1 part silver Heat to 473k I am willing to attempt spriting the new IPC drink. Should it be a "girly" drink since it contains a lot of sweetener? Help me come up with a name and recipe. If you have any thoughts about these suggestions or know of another reagent you think should cause organ damage, please post in this thread. Here are some snippets from Wikipedia on the toxicity of these compounds.
  14. I have sprited an ornate box, originally intended as a snuffbox(I would like to see nasal or oral snuff be added at some point, but that is for another thread.) What could it contain? I just know i would steal it if i had the chance.
  15. Make it irradiate the patient slightly due to the xrays it produces.
  16. One of the most enjoyable aspects of the game for me is burglary and theft and items like gilded pens, stamps and ashtrays are all fair game for the enterprising greytider. The captain's office and quarters have a good amount of cool items to steal such as the bedsheet, soap, flask and genuine Bob Ross painting, but many of the other offices are quite barren unless the person has forgotten to lock his locker. I just wish these spaces could have a few more ornate fluff items, luxury items or just simply mildly useful but exclusive items that a non antagonist is allowed to steal. I also wish the we could increase the amount of credits and precious metals in the vault, a few thousand credits and a couple of gold bar seems out of proportion to the level of security. Feel free to give your ideas, i will be willing to help sprite if the community thinks this is a decent idea.
  17. >Be Beauregard the grey greytider, also a syndicate agent. >Have to obtain the red documents held by Desmond Summy and prevent Grin Fandango the clown for leaving the station alive. >Sounds almost trivial, I think i will make it a bit more interesing >I decide upon a plan to sleepy pen the clown full of sequential doses of 13 Loko, Porktonium and absinthe. >I am in the shower filling my smugglers satchel with ingredients for the plan and is just about to cover it with a tile when Kennard Rose opens the door and sees the satchel. >I take off, get paranoid and decide to get agent ID card under the name Magnum Brzezinski, the civilian >Shit is going down, the Clown is breaking into the armory and Desmond is impersonating a NT naval officer. >I decide to sleepypen some officers to get rid of the ketamine and add to the chaos. >One of the officers wakes up and runs into me outside of the bar, she wants to search me. >I get captured and sent to perma 45 minutes into the shift, losing my traitor items and my set of blue documents instead receiving a fresh tracking implant in order to keep tabs on me. >After a little while alone in perma i figure that i am pretty much out of the round and feel pretty salty about getting captured for such a stupid reason, then two people are imprisoned with me,one of them is fellow syndicate agent Desmond Summy, i talk to them for a while and then HoS shows up with the clown. >The HoS removes Grin Fandango's handcuffs and gives him a telebaton hit for good measure. >The clown is pissed, he disarms the HoS, telebatons and start cuffing him, what a hero! >The HoS calls for help, security storms perma and takes the clown away and threatens him with execution. >I strip my prison clothes and instead clothe myself in a grey jumpsuit, gloves and a leather jacket using the biogenerator. >Clown is given a second chance and is returned to perma, we immediately start plotting our escape. We are going to breach the basketball court, space our selves with suit sensors on and get recovered by the paramedic and cloned. >Desmond has resigned himself to imprisonment but wishes us good luck, he tells me he hid the red documents in a labcoat in scichem. >We start breaking the windows, AI snitches on us, but clown keeps smashing and is quickly taken away not to be seen again. >The CE is comes into the basketball court and is trying to repair the windows, i disarm him and threaten to beat him with a stool until he backs away and i finally manages to smash the outer window with the stool. >I spacewalk to solar, i am loaded with warm donk pockets so it takes me quite a while to die. >Paramedic is busy giving joyrides to a vox, so instead after many agonizing minutes the pod pilot picks me up and dumps my dead body outside of processing. >An officer that seems oblivious to the fact that i am a known EoC drags my body to the cloner. >I pop out, but i am too afraid to go into the hallway and i lack equipment and ID so i enter the morgue and tell the coroner a story about how my friend Slith Skaar has gone missing and asks him to check the trays. >While the coroner is popping the trays i quickly steal a fully loaded tool belt from an unathi suicide victim. >When Slith is not found the coroner tells me i should try PDAing my friend and this is when i remember that you can use a PDA as your ID if you just need a new name. >I asked for a dead guys PDA and receive it, i am now Eave the civilian. >I hack into scichem and find the labcoat with the documents exactly where Desmond said it would be. >The shuttle is called and i hide in the back during the ride to CC. >Greentext >I realize that the escape attempt i instigated probably got the clown executed >Every turned out better than expected

  18. Taser slugs work very well if have access to the protolathe. There is also rubber shot that works well at close range. I would not mind more ammo types though.
  19. The two first sprites are supposed to be blue cheese, wheel and wedge respectively. I think I will increase the chroma of the rind and change the colour of the mold slightly.
  20. Hey, i am working on some sprites to be included in a future suggestion. These are still work in progress and you should feel free to offer critique or even touch or rework them. If you want to see my completed(or nearly completed) 32x32 sprites check out my oat recipes in the suggestions subforum. My thread about oat recipes
  21. Here is my first attempt at a granola(bar) sprite. I saw many recipes included berries, i might add some berries to an alternative sprites to make it a bit more visually interesting. Thoughts? I am not sure how many inhand sprites would have be added, they are so tiny some old sprites could possibly be reused. How would i best work towards possibly this getting implemented? Does anyone know a coder that might be willing to help me out or should i just try to learn byond myself?
  22. I like the complexity of the recipe. You could remove the coffee, but the coffee is easy to obtain. I like the idea of adding granola, more honey based recipies are always welcome, more botanists should be encouraged to take up apiculture. I will start sprinting the granola.
  23. One shift when the botany department were busy growing lube melons i decided to help the poor chef out by growing some much needed wheat in the garden. My attempts at improving the potency of my wheat crop instead resulted in me gazing upon a few stalks of the humble oat; Avena sativa. To my dismay the chefs employed by Nanotrasen seem to have never seen an oat in their lives and have no idea how to cook even a simple oatmeal porridge! I suggest adding a few oat based recipes as well as an oatmeal reagent produced by grinding the oats. Here are the two recipes i had in mind: Oatmeal porridge Suggested recipe: 10u Oatmeal 5u Water 1u Salt Suggested machine: Microwave Oatmeal balls This recipe might not be all that familiar to players outside of Scandinavia, but it is a classic oat based pastry around these parts. It's the perfect food item to make when a radiation storm blesses you with the delightful Swedish accent, bork bork! Here is a snippet from wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Havregrynskugle Suggested recipe: 10u Oatmeal 5u Sugar 5u Cocoa 5u Coffee Suggested machine: Candy maker It's also might also be worth considering adding a bag of 30u oatmeal to the flour locker at roundstart so the chef may cook a few bowls of oatmeal porridge for breakfast. The bag could be a simple palette swapped flour bag(like the rice bag currently is), or i could create a new sprite. Do you have thoughts about my suggestion, critique of my sprites or perhaps another great oat recipes you'd like to suggest? Post below!
