  1. Quick question, when it comes to the server lore, is it assumed that everyone has their DNA backed up to the CC servers for emergency cloning? I've seen CC messages saying that they're just gonna clone someone after their body has been lost/destroyed. This does make me wonder what this means for assassinations if they're meant to permanently kill someone.
  2. Permakilling can be one of the most disappointing parts of a round for a person. Not only that, but it's not always enjoyable for the assassin. As it stands, the person given this objective has to essentially remove a person permanently from the round. This often includes decapitating/de-braining the target, cremating them, or hiding them in space. There's not much room for creativity on the assassins part, and it's not fun to remove someone permanently from the round. For the target, it's often disheartening to have yourself abruptly killed and then tossed into space with no chance to retaliate or say anything. So I wish to submit a proposal. Essentially, instead of the target needing to be dead by the end of the round, change the objective so that the target just has to die at least once during the round. This makes it so that the target only needs to end up dead at some point, instead of having to stay dead the entire round. This will give the target a much better chance of getting back into a round while still fulfilling the assassins goal. It will make assassination easier, as the person only needs to die and the bodies won't need disposing of. However, this also opens up the avenue for more creativity when it comes to killing. You won't need to just rush someone and poison/decapicate/space them ASAP. Assassins will have a chance of do something creative with their kills since they no longer have to worry about the target being revived. There are a lot of fun traitor items and assassination methods that don't get used because they're not useful for quickly killing and disposing of a body. I think this change would be beneficial to both parties when it comes to assassinations.
  3. This sounds quite similar to the gangs gamemode of other servers. One worry I have is what the traitors can and can't do. Would science be allowed to max cap bomb engineering? Would engineering be allowed to plasma flood science? I think more concrete objectives would be needed.
  4. Wow. Been ages since I've looked at this thread. Yeah, I'd have to agree on some of the stuff being pointed out.
  5. This could be a fun idea if the guy gets to interact with the entire station. I always worry a bit with events their mainly command focused, since those kind of events sees little to no interaction with anyone outside the bridge. However, if this person is permitted to wander the station and go wherever he want, I think it'd be a fun RP event for everyone.
  6. If the captain gets his mind-shield removed, that'll be an immediate red flag for anyone that walks by with sec HUDs on.
  7. So this is more of a shower thoughts kind of topic, but one I want to hear other people's input on. So lets start with where this all stems from. Genetics. In game, genetics is a powerful tool that not only allows a person to unlock hidden and powerful genes, but also drastically modify your character's body. Everything that can be edited in the character creator can be changed in game via genetics. You're even able to have your gender changed. Which brings me to my first shower thought. Much like how we have plastic surgery in the modern age, people in the SS13 universe could pay money to have their appearance altered via genetics. Although it'd likely be very expensive, there is the added benefit of, with it being a genetic alteration, it's now your natural appearance. There's no surgery required, and all you might need is some mutadone in case any disabilities pop up. And these alterations can also extend to a person's species. Through the use of Stable Mutagen or brain transplants, a person can become an entirely different species. Slap on some genetic alterations, and you can become the humanoid creature of your dreams. However, the easy use of this technology also has a drawback. Or a major benefit. It's possible to make a body double of someone using their DNA. This would likely be a very powerful weapon used for things like infiltration, or for protecting VIPs by having someone else pose as them. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if there are actual impostors among the Nanotrasen ranks that were murdered and then had a person that is an exact copy of them take their place. So what I'm wondering is how reasonable/possible the above scenarios might be. Could a person, if they had the money, have their species and appearance customized? Is your coworker dead and replaced by a syndicate impostor?
  8. Have a vampire use its glass shattering screech while you have a plasma fire burning in the toxins burn chamber, resulting in a plasma fire outside of the burn chamber. Both of us died.
  9. There's certainly a bit of a disparity between the cost/complexity of the job. All the time, I see the job boil down to just building a space pod for yourself then flying around space till you find something. Even then, most of the loot you find is contraband and can't even be used by non-antags. Which is where the other side of the issue comes in. Mechanic is a VERY powerful antag. You get access to off station locations to hide or collect loot, have easy access to space and all locations connecting to space, and can essentially vanish after completing your objectives if security is after you. So essentially, mechanic is near useless to the crew but powerful as an antag. I think that's where most of the pricing comes in.
  10. That feeling when the civi fights to leave medbay before they can be cured of a virus.
  11. Vixx Vaxx Voxxed
  12. The Vox Experience
  13. A while back there was new ambient noises added to several areas. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few new sounds added to lavaland.
  14. Somehow (admemes) through the used of chemistry and genetics, I managed to turn a vox into a tajaran. Well, everything except the tail, that stayed the same, along with them also getting the tajaran tail. They could wag both at once.
  15. Not the bees! Ahhhhhh!
  16. Perhaps a downloadable computer/laptop/tablet program that allows access to security records. Security access required to download it, of course.
  17. See Also: People with lit cigarettes in the toxin mixing room.
  18. Do sec pod pilots not have Security HUD glasses? You should be able to set security records with those.
  19. I do like these ideas, but as is the most common killer of new roles, there’s the potential of self-antaging. If a ‘protagonist’ is given permission to act outside of space law, what are the limits and how far is too far? What’s to stop them from killing suspects outright? With ‘skeptics’ you got the issue of people stealing important equipment for departments, especially taking weapons from security or research machines from science. In general, I think these would be better as admin made roles with people who understand the bounds of their role. I wouldn’t trust people with these roles as random antags.
  20. Got a suggestion for a build. "The Smuggler". It's the cargo tech/ quartermaster that keeps somehow managing to order contraband crates without anyone noticing, and distributing said loot to his fellow traitors. Will likely have a storage implant to hide his tools like his emmag and traitor headset. Also expect him to have a set of tools for setting up hidden meeting spots and supply caches.
  21. Best song I can think of for the Ash Drake is Teostra's Theme from Monster Hunter.
  22. Found a crystal that turns people that speaks near it into clowns. Of course, it was taken straight to the bar.
  23. Actually, this was inspired by Left 4 Dead 2.
  24. A random thought I had recently was how there's a lack of music that plays in game aside from going into space. I do think the game could do with having more music, but this threat is more of to theorize potential songs for a variety of situations. In this case, a song that plays when fighting megafauna, or one that plays for you when receiving an antag role. Assuming there's no issue with copyright, and being able to take a song from anywhere, what songs would you love to see for antags and megafauna?
