Stationeers (a genuine SS13 inspired game)
Rapture571 replied to flimflamm's topic in Other Entertainment
I am suspicious of this game. I’ve watched many hours of developer streams with the admittedly adorable and gregarious Dean Hall and I’m left feeling unsatisfied. So far it doesn’t seem to have the depth of Space Station 13... I haven’t seen any Air Alarms, Surgery, Handcuffs, A.I., Cyborgs, Paper, Pens, Cargo etc.. The power systems are looking great though. I haven’t completely given up on Stationeers yet but I haven’t made a purchase yet either. -
Serious question; why do people ‘play’ and loiter in front of the bridge?

Inquiring minds want to know his orientation for research purposes and.. uh. Stuff. also how does ‘that’ work when you’re a slime person? ?

Supply Notifications - This controls supply notifications and dialogue over a corresponding channel. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Software Master File: The software master file is an entire directory of all programs and corresponding subroutines and can be called up for review and alterations by command and engineering staff, except for atmospheric technicians. Engineering staff, except for the chief engineer, can only review specific subroutines and cannot access the software master file or access it as a whole. The software master file can be called up at anytime by stating any combination of words relating to wanting to see or examine a specific subroutine or program. Opening the software master file will temporarily suspend all programs and subroutines and will only be overridden by the Rapture A.I. in the event of a station emergency such as a compartment decompression or a collapse of the electromagnetic containment field surrounding its assigned station's/interstellar vehicle's reactor. As such, this mode leaves the station and Rapture A.I. rather vulnerable and can only be executed at green alert or its equivalent. Below is an example of predetermined dialogue and activation: (Command Channel) Commanding Officer: "A.I. what are your subroutines?" (Command Channel) Rapture A.I.: "Captain John Doe: Intent; Recall Software Master File and Temporarily Suspend All Program and Subroutines?" (Command Channel) Commanding Officer: "Wait.. what? Sure.. I guess..." (Command Channel) Rapture A.I.: "Recalling Software Master File..." (Command Channel) Rapture A.I.: "Temporary Suspension of Autonomic Functions Imminent due to Recall of Software Master File. Several Minutes may Elapse. Standby..." (Public Channel) Rapture A.I.: "Autonomic Functions Temporarily Suspended. All Programs and Subroutines Temporarily Suspended. Maintenance in Progress." *(Command Channel) Rapture A.I.: "Software Master File. Subroutine Review; Subroutines by Program. State Program for Specific Subroutines within that Program or State Specific Subroutine for Review. Programs by Priority; Communications, Command, Engineering, Security, Medical, Science, Service and Supply. To Add a Program State a Title or General Directive Name. Default Programs Cannot be Deleted. To Add a Subroutine State a Title and Specific Action or Group of Actions. Certain Subroutines Cannot be Deleted. All Subroutines are Subject to Current Active Law Priorities. Only Programmers, Navy Officers and Commanding Officers may Modify Rapture A.I. Program, Subroutines or Laws; Station Engineers may Review any Program or Subroutine. Refer to Current Station's Standard Operating Procedures for Specific on Handling of A.I. Software and Hardware per NanoTrasen Guidelines. Rapture A.I. Technology Patent Owned and Trademarked by NanoTrasen Galactic and Subsidiaries with Special Permission for Programmers Responsible." *The above introduction will most likely be staggered and not one un-ending chain of speech. To skip introduction just say 'skip introduction' or any combination thereof. The introduction can also be withheld unless asked for specifically. (Command Channel) Chief Engineer: "A.I. I wanna delete the subroutine 'Engineering Notifications'. If I hear about another air alarm I'll scream." (Command Channel) Rapture A.I.: "Subroutine 'Engineering Notifications' Permanently Deleted. Will be Unavailable at Next Start-Up." This permanently deletes the subroutine from the A.I. Software Master File and causes it not to exist at the next start-up sequence. Alternatively some things can be temporarily suspended on a per shift basis and this does not require the opening of the Software Master File. Alternative Scenario: (Command Channel) Commanding Officer: "A.I. I want to make a subroutine where you set-up the telecoms scripts every shift. Turn on 'Theme Jobs', 'Theme Names', and 'Louder Command Members'." (Command Channel) Rapture A.I.: "Processing..." (Command Channel) Rapture A.I.: "Subroutine Transcribal in Progress. Program Editing in Progress. Standby..." (Command Channel) Rapture A.I.: "Subroutine Transcribal Complete. Communications Program Modified. Closing and Archiving Software Master File in 30 Seconds." (Command Channel) Rapture A.I.: "20 Seconds." (Command Channel) Rapture A.I.: "10 Seconds." (Command Channel) RaptureA.I.: "Software Master File Archived. Software Updated. Update Available Upon Next System Start-Up." (Public Channel) Rapture A.I.: "All Programs and Subroutines Resume". All dialogue and actions can be edited but the Software Master File can never be deleted as it is melded with the cybernetic interface of the Rapture A.I. and contains all programs and subroutines. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Software Master File Upload (Shift End): At the end of every shift the A.I. will upload the software master file to central command and then download it at the beginning of the shift stating all programs and subroutines (if that subroutine hasn't been modified or deleted). This is automatic and requires no intervention or activation. Note: IC round things won't be allowed to be transcribed onto the a.i. character because its just not realistic and against the rules. Also, please don't steal my ideas--such as they are-- you may think them crap or good, either way they come from my head =D Also, if you read stuff this far you're a total nerd like me, thanks! =^-^= Reprimands [only to be added by an Admin]: Commendations [only to be added by an Admin]:

Hello and thank you for the links and the explanation. I’m on a smartphone so I’ll try it when I get home. Also, excuse the name—its what happens when you come up with a name at 9 years old and never drop it. I probably should’ve made my Byond name Rapture as well but alas.. I did not Also, follow up question, is it possible to edit your own posts on the forum?

Hi, I’m new to this station. I stopped playing Space Station 13 awhile ago and am hoping to find a nerd home here. I really like Star Trek, Some Star Wars, Sci-Fi and synthetic A.I. Characters a lot. I play as Nero Saurs sometimes (a character I made up for EVE online ages ago). P. S: Currently looking for a place to write out a description of my A.I. Character’s programs and subroutines (part roleplay part practical) and I have found the doubling spacing of the character forum to be.. inadequete for this. Any suggestions would be helpful. thanks for reading, -Greg
