BREAKING NEWS! Janitor becomes griefiest job ever!
-
They are robots, why not let them make robot sounds?
-
Agreed.
-
I just want someone on the crew list to give a f*ck about IPC repair. Location is irrelevant.

Chapter Master, 40k Dwarf Fortress

Did you check out that wiki link? It has a manual and a faq there. -
The primary trouble with admins is that the best way to get them is for someone competent and person-savvy to select the best people from the playerbase. A good 70-80% of players are not admin material, and selection has to look at a lot of different values that a person has. As your playerbase shrinks, your pool of potential admins also shrinks. Speaking from experience though, unlisting has largely been a bad idea. You need to have the server pimped somewhere in order to keep fresh blood churning through. If you don't have that going on, the server WILL die. Whether it's listed on the hub is immaterial - it doesn't matter if it's on the hub or 4chan or reddit or wherever else. So long as it's generating an influx of new players that's greater than the outflux, it'll keep the server alive. If nobody knows about the server, it will simply shrink and vanish. Old players don't stick around forever - there is a constant amount of attrition regardless of how well the server is doing. You are a wise little man.

B.U.P. let him go. A Vox is not worth getting in trouble over.

For me it is more that I just wish I could get a quick response to let me know something happened. Some rounds I make an admin help and never hear back. I respect the admins and understand that they volunteer for all this stress, I mean no disrespect. I just was asking for a sign to know that I was heard and not speaking to an afkmin.

I can understand streaky's frustration, which I believe is what he means. The trouble is with most people that either you play and understand IPC, or you don't play them and think they should just suck it up. I have played IPC for quite some time and I saw an issue with the fact that it took two months to convince the coders to remove a feature that made IPC overheat in almost any outerwear, so much that it made any job that needed a hardsuit unplayable. Most responses were from players telling the IPC players to just play a different race.
-
Why have a built in admin help section if that is not the way to contact them?
-
I very much believe this too. Nothing is more frustrating than watching an issue continue IC after reporting it, never to get a response. Or to have a bug that is not responded to a report of.

I have seen a couple rounds recently with people bending and/or breaking the rules when I play, as no admins are on. Admins are important to the game and I have zero idea how they are selected. All I know is I left a thriving server for a couple months only to return to find many admins gone, and the average sever population halved at least. I understand lack of admins is not lack of players, but as stated and quoted before, lack of admins was given as a reason for the unlisting. Unlisting IS a cause for lack of players. Less admins -> unlisting -> less players.

The embassy removal was mostly a joke. The huge wasted space there bugs me. It may have been shoved in, but I feel that the prosthetics would be very fun and have room for expansion.
-
90% of the time doctors refuse to help me, telling me I need to see the roboticist. About 60% of the roboticist I deal with tell me to see a doctor. Heck even if they agree to help, I still have to walk them through it. I would love to see someone more devoted to fix IPC, but making it more complicated without that job would be a nightmare. Most people never know how to restore an IPC and I have never been revived. Maybe call the job "prosthetics specialist" and have them install all artificial limbs as well as repair IPC? Lack of space is easy to fix. Embassies are wasted space right now. Remove them and have space for all your needs.

Pathfinder is basically dungeons and dragons 3.5 edition with rule edits and additions. If you like pathfinder, chances are you might like d&d.
-
I really like this and would love to have someone that gives a scrap about repairing IPC. Cruelest irony is the race nobody wants to deal with also has to rely on others for repairs.
-
I have been looking and one of the arguments against listing is the lack of admins. I just suggested we get more admins.
-
It seems the issue is that we have no players, since we are not listed, since we have too few admins. I suggest we get more admins. I know it is way more complicated than that, but I wanted to give my suggestion.

I play on roll20 right now and it is great. The ones I play only need a microphone, your face is not necessary.

Everything I write would be in trinary.

ALL HAIL LORD SINGULOTH.

I wrote this on break at work. If I messed up any lore or anything, please feel free to let me know.

Name: Eldrin Age: 78 Gender: Male Race: IPC mk 1 Blood Type: 10w30 synthetic oil General Occupational Role(s): NT Recruiter, sometimes Quartermaster. Biography: Eldrin Kanthos was a human that worked for NanoTrasen some time ago. He was a veteran turned miner. He showed leadership qualities needed by the company at the time and served as a cargo technician during his training before becoming a quartermaster. He served for several shifts in such position, taking classes on the side to be certified in handling secure materials. Certification in hand, he transferred to the science division and worked his way up to become an... adequate research director. His last post with NanoTrasen was his first shift as captain, before the unfortunate loss of the station and all hands aboard. All records cease of him after this point. Else in was one of the last mk. 1 model IPC created before the line was discontinued. He awoke with the memories of signing the papers for his first command as captain, disoriented in this mechanical shell. He spent the first few years investigating the man thought himself to be, getting conflicting answers. He had been told he was the man in question, an MMI in his head as a new cyborg type. But other times he was informed that he was an experiment in digitizing the human mind. And once he found rumors that the day all hands were lost on the station that there had been a power surge shorting the backup cloning system that put Eldrin's soul into the mechanical body. Recent repair runs have shown him to be calmer and less concerned with the past, and more focused on his job. [security clearance] The newest batch of loyalty implants seem to have desired effect. Qualifications: Class D exosuit certification, hazardous materials certification, secure resources certification, Navy level classified document clearance, and military grade weapon familiarity. Employment Records: Has served almost every shift as a NanoTrasen recruiter, only working as janitor or cargo technician when the unions are on strike. Security Records: Has been shown to have wild ideas of IPC liberation and representation. Loyalty implant in this unit occasionally shorts. If unit is suspected of defective implant, report immediately and keep distance. Known to be unstable without functioning implant. UPDATE: Eldrin has now been freed and is no longer owned by NT. Medical Records: Unit is of obsolete design, and very fragile. Multiple instances of limb loss and/or complete mobility failure. Unit has been recommended for chassis upgrade on several occasions, but denied every time. Record updated by corporate to show that unit is being used to clear out stock of old parts. Personnel Photo (Appearance text): Standing at 5'10", this unit is fairly consistent with the dimensions of his model. Plating on unit is dull from many abrasions and buzzing and whirring can be heard from old motors and gears protesting against moving.
