  1. Maybe you should have to remove the floor tile you are standing on to do this, just to indicate that you are working at the sub level.
  2. Very. Nothing like having to cause a breach by the busy bridge hallway in order to get at the wiring in the bridge window.
  3. Will the pod pilot fly it to the mechanic to get it serviced?
  4. She also has an affinity for poking around. Especially if you are sitting in her Ripley. Specifically with screwdrivers and a proboscis. I played several rounds Yesterday. I remember that a miner was particularily vocal about not liking the non-human companions. Was that you? And, if so, did you act intentionally off-character (contrasting your tolerant bio) to hint at being a changeling? If so, I'm impressed.
  5. "Oh heavenly father, grant me the will to exact revenge against Bill for my coworkers death....." New objective : "Kill Bill"
  6. Or it could be deep in the science tech tree. Requiring rare minerals. Making and deploying this to save the station from some inbound space anomaly could be a shift objective.
  7. If we are in the situation where lack of medbay personell and abundance station emergency leave less than one doctor per three critical patients, then I think people should expect that things will be hectic. My experience is not just on paper. I play doctor and CMO.
  8. I think that there should be some idle activity in cargo. When I'm atmo, I customize the setup to be better prepared in case of fire, breach or otherwise. I would have liked to do that same thing to Cargo. To set up handlers, stackers, conveyors etc that could handle recycling from disposals and to sort out mining produce. I also think that the station should have overall production goals that could be randomized. This would allow some dynamics between the respective heads of staff instead of being totally introvert.
  9. As a Chemist/Doctor/Chief Medical Officer, I prefer liquid medication to pills. IV is still liquid. The factor added by the OD system is that you need to take the medication in portions as opposed to all in one go. I don't think that is unreasonable and good gameplay to be had. I occasionally play as CMO. In my experience the problem with patients coming in later in the shift is not that they are so many, but that the medical staff has this strange habit of vanishing. Some patients may need to keep taking prescription pills after leaving medbay to recover fully/faster.
  10. Does vomiting rid you of toxins in the system if they were ingested orally? I believe it should and OD on pills should cause vomiting. The cryo cells should not OD, no matter what amount is in the beaker. The beaker is a reservoir/reserve storage, not dosage. I think the OD system is good. This encourages use of IV, which I think is underused today. To one-shot inject a patient with the entire recovery medication is a bit far from how medicine is practiced. It sounds, though, like there are some balancing issues still to be worked out. But I like the idea of patients in bedposts getting their IV and being monitored. It would also give the nurse more interaction. But it seems that it is easy to lose the overview. And it seems that the doctors should have better access to panels showing the chemicals currently in the system. Maybe the dialysis feature on the sleeper should include a reagent scanner for common medication. Maybe blood samples should be easier for a doctor to do. Maybe there could be a wristband or something that patients wore in the medbay that basically worked as full suit sensor, but the data was available through medical PDA. It could also be used to indicate actual patients on the medical HUD. Maybe the sleepers should have a feature to work as a dosage machine (kind of IV) for medicine manually added by the doctor.
  11. I don't think the pod weaponry should require red alert. A pod is the first line of defense and its reasons to fire has very little to do with the other considerations that go into red alert swipe. I do think that there should be an onstation safeguard/weapons override to avoid an antag hijacking the pod holding the station ransom.
  12. Atmo/Engineering should have a pod with RCD. It seems strange to have atmo people crowbar'ing emergency shutters from pressurized areas.
  13. Sounds more like nanites. Nano-robotics. IRL, I think the future of microelectronics will involve hybridization of organic and tech. For instance using the body motorics, metabolism and brain of an insect, but manipulating its senses and instincts to have it respond to an artificial/augmented perception of the real world. No reason why a bacteria will not be employed the same way.
  14. I just had another round where I would like to being able to see wiring/piping through walls. There was an explosion by the bridge and the whole area that is normally grills had been partially replaced by walls. However, there is wiring there, too. There were cable pieces in the debris, but bismantling the walls to inspect the cabling would cause loss of atmo.
  15. Right, got you. I would assume that this would be pressurized already at shift start. But ramping up the pressure to 4500 would of course demand more gas.
  16. I do not agree. If a drone uses it to spoil plot, then this is bannable. A safeguard would be that the action can give off a distinct error sound from the drone that would cause the antag to adminhelp it.
  17. I still do not get it. BW said that he disables the pump to external (not distro) because it wastes air?
  18. The dilemma with emagged airlocks is more pronounced with drones since it cannot interact with humans. It would make sense that the drone would replace the door (/electronics) and leave the door bolted for the external world to fix (ie organics). This is one of the instances where I would wish that the :b communication option was in place. Sometimes, the drone will need to flag an inability to fix a detected problem. Elevating the concerns to whatever handles it. Most automatons in factories do this. It doesn't mean that it "interacts" with the any more than an atmos alarm does.
  19. I did not understand the need to turn off the pump to external. Is it to prevent the piping from the pump to the ports from achieving 4500 pressure? Isn't this already stabilized at shift start? The ports do not consume anything unless something is actually hooked up to them, correct?
  20. Conceivably, the facility could also be used to check wether or not a subject is human. The tests would not be humane. Thus opening up more RP elements along classical ethical dilemmas. Possible additional gameplay elements: Round End score penalty if done to a human. The facility would stop working if it was used on a human subject twice (lawsuit/union safeguards). It might need two heads swiping cards.
  21. (I thought I had suggested this somewhere before, but I was unable to find it) A main theme within the genre of sci-fi is the organization that doesn't mind breaking a few eggs to make the omelet. It certainly is a prevalent theme in the Alien series. I think that creatures such as. Xeno. Changeling. Vampire. Ninja. Wizard. Carp. Space bear. other...? ...should give some RnD benefits when captured. If xenos are discovered, then CentComm may instruct NT Rep and Captain that they would like a live specimen for pickup or that the specimen should be contained in a xenobio holding cell. Research may involve things putting the specimen in nearly critical condition (suffocation, heat, cold, tolerance for chloral hydrate, etc). The rewards should be substantial. Researching a vampire could lead to ways of exposing/tracking/fighting other vampires. Exploring the border of ethics. A body could be produced in genetics to allow a captured facehugger/egg to burst.
  22. Drones still do not have a T-Ray scanner. Is this a conscious choice due to some in-game reasoning that eludes me?
  23. I have three kids, where one is two years old. Sometimes, I just want to log into SS13 and click a bit with distractions in the background. Even when responding to calls, there is minimal RP. Being emagged once in a while is exciting. I assume that the main motivation for hiding it is to throw off potential griefers because the drone is a griefers dream. Could that be achieved in any other way?
  24. If I enter round straight from start screen to observer mode, would it be possible to spawn as drone without having to spend 10 minutes as "dead"?
  25. The amount of karma and how the round scoring works are just tweaks. A full karma is fine by me, I just didn't want this thread to turn into a "karma inflation" discussion. Give two to every head of staff, for that matter. I just want people to actually mind when the station is not working, when it is in danger and when resources are being wasted (wether it is mining flow, research activity, supply points, officer/engineer time or something else). The intention is not that nobody should break space law. Just to have the general population caring about the well being of the station. Most LEO will tell you about the 90-10 rule. 10 percent of the population is causing 90 percent of the police work. These days I find that too many of the non-antags see nothing wrong with being generally un- and counterproductive.
