Im not talking only about my exact scenario, I did run, especially after the borg started shooting disablers (I kind of think they were having fun teleporting me around with them). I didn't have a radio to hear anything anyways. But im mainly talking about the law in general, it can be severely abused by security. What I did that round has no bearing whatsoever on my point. My point is that it is a severe flaw in space law that can be abused, and it should have provisions or even just a note on how exceptions should exist. Currently there is no exceptions or excuses. The way it is worded they could lop off anyones head the second anyone even touches one of those items, which is quite simply, stupid. Especially considering how far the server has moved away from more hrp game style and rules. You shouldn't have crazy hrp style space law and regulations on a server where hrp playstyle is a pipe dream at best. People are running around with xray guns and large bombs and death chems and just in general being stupid and dangerous, that doesn't give cause for instant death sentence unless they are using them in a way that warrants it. Simply possessing a literally harmless item shoulldn't be cause for instant perma or execution without any intent to use them in terrible ways. I don't see doctors with syringe gun of sleep chems being given instant perma status, nor scientists with guns or engineers with cans of plasma or blueprints, or atmos techs dragging mysterious air canisters.

Im not talking about hiding items from security. Im talking about valid hunters giving you a perma sentence no matter how it was obtained, whether you have announced you had it and your intent to turn it in, whether you are carrying it into security itself 5 seconds after obtaining it. It doesn't matter because some security guy with a hardon can and will arrest and give you a perma sentence. If you give no leeway in the wording of space law, it will always be used to inflict maximum abuse upon players whether it is deserved or not. You may be thinking reasonably, but most players don't, they are going to be nazis about it and fuck over everyone they can. There are no provisions for turning in items, no provisions for finding items where they shouldn't be, there is no operating procedure that covers anything at all because you guys seem to assume the station is some perfectly static state where shit doesnt get all blown to hell and that everyone is completely reasonable and understanding.

Kidan miners should start with meson optical implant.

So its my fault that a borg immediately opened fire on me as soon as I was seen and it teleported me away? I certainly wasn't hiding it, I was wearing it, and didn't get 10 steps down the hall before it happened. I still completely disagree with you, breaking in to someones office or locker or secure area to steal blueprints or captains gun or whatever is completely different than grabbing shit out of the trash. The way you are viewing the law, even trying to turn it into security would mean I could be immediately put to death just because I had touched it. If an engineer was using the blueprints, even if the CE gave it to them, under your interpretation you could immediately be put to death. Its stupid and it should be changed. Intent is everything. Note how both the rules and space law say "stealing" which requires intent. Possession is not theft unless you are trying to hide it.

I don't think you can actually set off an atmos alert remotely without there already being some kind of alert already present which gives you control. Plus the alarms are trash, 3/4 of the room can be on fire without the alarm going off thanks to the shitstain that is LINDA.

I think its pretty dumb that possession of a hand teleporter or reactive teleport armor or anything else fun you might find in disposals gives you an automatic death/perma sentence. It gives no bearing on how it was obtained or whether or not it was actually stolen or merely obtained via trash disposals. I got a perma sentence for wearing reactive teleport armor I grabbed off the ground and all they had to do was ask for it and I would of gave it to them. Instead they just started shooting me, almost got me killed (saved by a bluespace crystal in my pocket) by getting me teleported behind gravity generator into space. Then when I finally was cuffed, I was given a perma sentence. These are things people hold on to just for convenience or fun, grand theft should atleast require you actually steal the item, not just possess an item.

Really its only fair considering engineers have access to everything atmosians have except for the firefighting backpacks and the fireaxe which really isnt so great when it is easily disarmed and ends up used against them. Engineers can operate air alarms and have pipe and disposal vendors. Atmosians cant even go into the tool room, cant use engi vending machines, cant open engi lockers, welding lockers, electrical lockers, cant open tech storage , cant set airlock electronics. They also need them to move or change the turbine and have it hooked to power. Really, atmosians are just gimped engineers without gloves. They can't even use the gases they have without getting banned, and even if they could LINDA is too shitty to do anything besides try and light the station on fire. Can't stun/knockdown people with overpressure, instead they get to fight space wind. If nothing else they should have gloves just so they can get into departments in emergencies. Usually when someone yells fire or plasma, atmosians are the only ones who can and will immediately run over there (possibly dragging a near useless scrubber). Then they get to stand at the door for 5 minutes yelling at the AI to let them in trying to get into toxins which the AI can't see you trying to do. Yes it is technically a good buff to them, however at the same time, no one cares if atmosians have gloves, they usually rush into open engineering doors to steal them anyways or otherwise bust into tech storage. Just so they can do their job. Both disposal and air pipes go under doors and through departments illogically. Unless the entire stations pipe system is rebuilt from the ground up to logically go through halls and maintenance and branch off like you would expect they need gloves just to be useful. The only thing not starting them with gloves does is annoy them and make them shock themselves or break walls to get them.

Smoking cigarettes could be fire cult worship and potential source of fire magic or a fire magic catalyst. It would be interesting to say the least and maybe cause some fun as anyone with a cigarette, lighter, or welder is looked upon with great suspicion. People carry these items and smoke already so it wouldn't be as easy to profile who is and isnt part of the cult like you can when examining blood cult users and seeing they have 1,000 scabs.

Maybe it doesnt exist, I always feel like im bleeding out as a kidan though, constantly having to give myself transfusions because doctors don't even consider the fact that I might be low on blood and woosey with bad vision and possible blackouts. As a human I almost never worried about having enough blood even after recovering from near death with surgeries to repair multiple broken bones and damaged organs. On my Kidan I feel like every major injury or surgery puts me dangerously low on blood, it sure doesnt make me feel any more robust if im going to die on the way to medbay even if I win a melee fight. But maybe its all in my head. Kidan last I knew also ran faster from being hot but never found that in the code either, granted I have no idea how the movement code actually works and I havent tested movement in a long while. (im just annoyed that removing or losing my shoes makes me slow as molasses for no reason)

An emergency override card would be pretty neat, if it announced what department door was open by what ID card over either security, or global chat that could help. I mean if the AI sees someone barg into a door over the radio it will immediately check out who and what is going on and be able to start closing and bolting doors. And security will probably also immediately swarm the area looking for a reason to arrest someone. It would be great for an antag to attempt to steal and use as an emergency escape card. Maybe emagging the emergency card could disable the radio announcement and only announce it locally like normal speech or make some crazy noise people can hear. That way it wont ruin doors like an emag and allow a more stealthy operations. Perhaps it could open the door and leave it open until interacted with but not ruin the electronics.

Anyone know where to current bleeding effect on kidan is int he code? I wanted to look at it but couldn't find shit on github. Another user said it works by making cuts not heal which means Kidan just keep bleeding while humans slow bleeding over time. Also, I had trouble finding what I thought Kidan had as higher movement speed when they are warm. White it is neat, you are never really at a higher temperature and the station isn't going allow you to be atmos and turn up the entire stations temperature just so you can run faster. Im not saying it shoul dbe removed, if it is there like I thought, but it is a consideration in balancing traits, its largely useless and unnecessary. That is unless you want to run around with persistent infections.

I still have no idea what AAC is. And multitools are a requirement to even use or activate a number of atmospherics items like gas sensors, air injectors, double input vent (which cant be removed after placement for some reason), atmos computers, and more.
-
Literally anything else. I don't think it is needed anyway because what is it really balancing out? Brute resistance is already balanced by bleeding like a fountain as Kidan. But you could have toxin vulnerability, cold vulnerability, remove scratch punch (which doesnt make sense), or literally anything else.

The reason people don't do ghetto surgery isn't because of infections or germs and such, its because ghetto surgery causes more damage than it heals. Go into ghetto surgery with hairline fracture, leave ghetto surgery with multiple damaged organ, a caved in rib cage, and brain damage from the tools failing every other try and breaking bones somehow. "whoops, slipped doing eye surgery, now your skull is broken, whoops slipped on skull surgery, now your brain is damaged, whoops slipped on the very last step, now your skull and brain are just mush"

Kidan definitely need glasses or passive eye effects that remove the need for them. They can't mine for shit without mesons, if they don't get glasses they need some sort of meson mining sense, perhaps giving them racial mining scanners due to their antenna that show the ores through the rock. Security is also shit without huds or glasses, portable flashers completely fuck them over in their own department. Even if you walk past the flashers, other people won't and will trigger them blinding you anyways. The brute resistance itself is already countered by the bleeding. If you don't have styptic patches with you and you start bleeding, even if from a single hit, you need to beeline for medical or you will start passing out and die. Never has the brute resistance helped me because if I take enough damage for it to have mattered, im bleeding like a stuck pig and passing out. Its a stupid debuff anyways because ive never seen a bug bleed to death or even bleed at all. Kidan should be tanky characters but that is completely nullified when you are passed out and bleeding. You could also give them normal punches, bugs don't have talons. Their debuff should if anything involve decreased poison resistance. Also, why are they vegetarians? Ants don't eat only plants. Nothing worse than going to the kitchen only to find all the food is burgers and steaks which make you throw up. They can't even eat jerky from vending machines. Give them either glasses or passive mining meson sense. (possibly a temporary spell-activated meson sense?) Reduce bleeding effects, either to normal levels or possibly reduced bleeding, in its place give them decreased toxin resistance. Remove scratching punch, thats just silly. Let them eat meat. Make the autoinjector chem get them high, like the lore says. The caffeine at least was fixed awhile back I believe, I was almost killed when some security guy forcefed me shit tons of coffee. I really wanted to like Kidan, but ive regretted the purchase since day one even though I try to play them regularly. Their debuffs are stupid and crippling and their buffs aren't useful at all.
-
I would be okay with these if it let us change some other things on Kidan. Wearing glasses or having Kidan modified glasses for one. Increase toxin damage to Kidan, makes up for increase brute resistance. I wouldnt even argue against even higher toxin damage for even higher brute resistance somehow.

Or make it so revive has 50% chance of working but whoever applies the defib takes significant burn damage. 2 uses of improvised defib could soft crit the person using it.
-
I could see balancing this with having your gun heat up and do small burn damage and eventually explode in your hands if you let it get too hot.

Airhorns should require the use of airtanks and higher pressure airtanks should create louder sounds. Make the airhorn the size of whatever tank is attached and possibly spew out whatever gas is inside. Also make overpressured airtanks give super load airhorn sounds while near empty tanks are little air wimpers. Helps prevent airhorn spam (unless you are prepared with many tanks) and gives a use for atmospherics, to make super pressurized airtanks like people want for pneumatic cannons.

Ive used disposal chutes in the past for airlocks, they do require air to operate buy only use like 3kPa or less from a single room temp tile. The real problem is convincing people the chute isn't going to launch them into a jail cell or some kind of death grinder.
-
Atmos techs can't either so they can't get air alarm boards, of course atmos doesn't even have access in there either but ive never had anyone complain.

As for laser shotguns, arent there laser slugs you can make in science?

Isn't SS13 pretty much single core? There is no need for an I7 when an I5 will do the same thing. I have a 4690k i5 and can overclock ti with stock voltages up to 4.4 ghz, I can still add an extra .2 volts and get higher, although I might want to switch to water cooling at that point. Even with the 4.2 I keep it at for Dwarf Fortress my air cooling keeps it below 80C at all times and the chip is rated for up to 100C with 120C as the factory tested temp limit. Unless you can utilize more than 4 cores the I7 is a waste of money.

Ive always assumed CentComm stamps were admin stamps, although this does give the potential for forging CentCommd ocuments as an antag. Now im hoping its not fixed/changed so I can utilize this in the future...
