SOP states the following as good grounds for dismissal: Any medium-severe breach of Standard Operating Procedure without proper cause; Any medium crime or higher; Critical incompetence at a given job; Refusal to follow legal and relevant orders by the respective Head of Staff. Legality and relevance of said orders are to be judged by the Captain or Head of Personnel; Creation of an abusive and/or unsafe work environment. Personnel consistently berating, insulting, belittling, or otherwise treating their coworkers like dirt, should be immediately disciplined So when should the HoS, Warden or Security be fired? Particularly with the last two. If you're the HoS or Captain security should be relied upon to follow your orders as you give them, but in firing an officer you inevitably tend to make your security force weaker. When i've played HoS, I've told people to diengage or pull back or stay out of maint and then end up getting robustred/stripped/killed and cloned for their troubles. However, if they manage to make their way back after defying orders odds are good I've lost a good 2-3 officers and I'm reluctant to really lose more for what could easily be perceived as a petty act of vengeance. When there are likely three other major crises going on at once. In addition, when does toxic behaviour cross the line? Is it continuing an argument in sec radio even after you've told them to cut it out? Is it talking shit about other officers or even the HoS/Magistrate over general radio? Also when does misconduct cross the CRITICAL incompetance threshold? If things are REALLY bad, are you better off firing every officer and then trying to replace them? Even if you have to wait ages for more to arrive from central, or want to risk hiring from manifest?

Nah, Manslaughter since the Captain didn't obstruct attempts to heal him, and he died in medbay. -

Recently, working with the HoS to demote the Captain (as magistrate) and have them brigged for manslaughter after lasering a guy to death after 3-4 civilians bluespace peel'd into the bridge. -
Very nice shading and detail on the clothing. What's the story behind the neck scar?

He said/She Said
Streaky Haddock replied to Streaky Haddock's topic in Security Officer's Union's General Discussion
No witnesses to the event, detective for some reason doesn't come when summoned, both seem unharmed. Cable cuffs were found in the CE's backpack but they used them to detain a grey-tider earlier in the shift. Roboticist has come to brig but for some reason won't enter processing, preferring instead to scream and keep their distance even though the CE's cuffed. Roboticist didn't flee at the time, but security didn't bother to bring them in from the scene. The Roboticist had to be summoned to the brig later on. This is a situation that came from a round while I was playing Magistrate. I was leaning towards the roboticist being innocent but all the evidence seemed so very circumstantial and at the time things were too chaotic for me to really get into detail. Later it turned out the Chaplain had wololo'd the CE into trying to kill the roboticist but in this case we knew SOMETHING had happened, but weren't entirel sure what to do with the lack of witnesses or evidence we had. I mean, brigging someone for attempted murder over just cable-cuffs and a totally unharmed potential victim seemed... dodgy. -

So what do you do when security is too disorganised or busy to have the calm, rational sit-down? -
how do you even use those things anyway

A roboticist cries out for help in deliveries and claims the CE is trying to kill them. When found, they are standing over the CE with two stunprods. The CE is found to have cable cuffs in their backpack but that's it and afaik aren't contraband. So what do you do in this kind of situation?

Allow people to choose diona limbs at char-gen as prosthetics. It makes no mechanical difference since species stuff is held in the mob not in the limbs. Considering this is a thing in surgery, I'm presuming it would be a simple enough thing to just latch on to the character preferences code? I'm only really suggesting this because I think plant limbs are cool as hell. So I'm not going to pretend this is coming from a place of intricate code knowledge beyond watching purplegenie dissect a diona and slap an arm on a naked baldie in the admin station.

I honestly like dealing with the grey tide. People thank you for taking care of them, keep you suitably busy all round, no one has to be killed and knowledge of all parts of space law and SOP is handy as opposed to meaningless. -
Your Ultimate Bureaucrat
Streaky Haddock replied to bryanayalalugo's topic in Department of Bureaucracy's General Affairs
Zsi here. Internal Affairs. I try to expand my scope beyond just security and focus more on the interdepartmental relations aspect of IA. Find out why things aren't getting done, getting people to talk to each other, sending faxes to make sure heads of affected department know the issue and what the solution is. I tend to CC in the NT Rep on every fax since it's in their interest to know what the heads know. also fuck you wolf D:< -
Reasons for doing paperwork
Streaky Haddock replied to bryanayalalugo's topic in Department of Bureaucracy's The Break Room
Beacause I have a shitty memory. Also, because it's nice to include all the details in a handy reference file rather than explaining the issue six times over radio. -

I ran around as a Durand shooting revolutionaries as a brig phys. In my defence, none of the officers were capable of getting to the gamma armoury. -

Name: Zsi Age: No record, but physically mature. Gender: Male Race: Grey Blood Type: AB+ General Occupational Role(s): Service, Law/Security, Science, Medical, Command Biography: Arkship IIb is not forthcoming with its crew records, so practically nothing is on the record about their life or employment onboard the vessel beyond what Zsi has told us. They were formed from Zeta-G clone stock and raised by a research analysis commune. Zsi has stated in his employment interview that he feels 'comfortable' as a result with paperwork and various aspects of xenobiology, standard operating procedure, and medicine. He shows a fascination with the various species of the galaxy, which is to be expected from one of his culture. In shifts on board the Cyberiad he has shown a comfort in following and executing orders if it's in-line with what he expects from his superior officer. Grey Arkships are notorious for their highly disciplined and regimented structure in all aspects of daily life. He has, however, stopped the question orders and verify facts when he receives one that doesn't line up with his expectations for the role. This is at odds with a personality normally comfortable in an authoritarian environment and during debriefing, often claims a sometimes condescending, sometimes sincere motive 'just to make sure'. Whilst on the Cyberiad he demonstrates an easy-going personality which sometimes borders on the ambivalent. He has a tendency to dedicate himself wholly to the role he's in. He has difficulty 'loosening up' and with no clear objective or goal to direct him towards, tends to grow morose and wander aimlessly. Fortunately for Nanotrasen, Zsi doesn't appear to be a specimen who handles freedom and liberty well. Qualifications: No formally recognised qualifications beyond a letter of assurance for professional quality from Arkship IIb for service to Nanotrasen. Employment Records: ??-2561 - Born and Serving on the Grey Exploration Vessel Arkship IIb 2561-Present NSS Cyberiad Security Records: November 2nd 2561 - Convicted of Manslaughter of a Command Officer. Due to extenuating circumstances, he was demoted to Officer, sentenced to a spell in the brig. Compliant and contrite throughout the process. Medical Records: August 28th 2561 - Detox for Caffeine Addiction September 1st 2561 - Detox for Caffeine Addiction September 12th 2561 Detox for Caffeine Addiction September 26th 2561 - Hospitalised for extreme water burns over 80% of his body. Was brought in next to a charred plasma-man body. September 29th 2561 - Retrieved from an unauthorised quantum pad expedition on board the cyberiad, deceased on arrival. Corpse quarantined as a highly virulent strain of brainrot was found in his cells and the body destroyed. He was then cloned from backup. Harmed by water. Personnel Photo (Appearance text): Very little genetic deviation is present in the face of this Grey. Large black eyes, an almost identical face to many other Greys that come and go from the Cyberiad. In this picture he is wearing an alien face shirt. A purple hive tattoo wraps around his back. His neck slouches forward a little, giving him a laboured and nervous bearing, though this is just a trait of his species. Long fingers and thin-sinewed arms hand down by his sides as he stands in front of a measurement wall which seems to show him to be about 5'11 in height. It's impossible to notice every sec call as an officer, and you inevitably end of round chat is how blind and stupid and callous you were. So how about a 911-esque PDA alert system where crew can send a message to all security personnel that flashes their PDA. It automatically takes their location and uses the PDA's name and job to send an alert to officers. This is so when security chases down and kills the changeling, they can look at their PDA and see a laundry list of everything else they missed. HoS, Captain and Magistrate (and maybe the RD/CE if this can be done from the messaging server) can blacklist PDAs from this service. Would this be a simple function to code?
